Why can't they just set up a monthly subscription for access to all the GSL content? I'm getting tired by them charging people for every event they host.
This. Just charge us $15-$20 a month, it's a lot more convenient and Gom will probably make more money from it in the long run.

$25 is too much imo, 15 bucks is more appropriate.
Anyways just bought it!

Have spent $150+ on vods (including NASL and MLG)

didn't flinch at the price. GSTL all summer baby

Buying a DVD(or blueray) movie is 20-25$.
GSTL have a better entertainment value for me, and is longer than a 2hours movie.
So relatively, 25$ really isn't that expensive for the amount of quality entertainment you get from it.
But it also depends, if you buy it at the end of the season just to see the matches that matters, you'll be losing a lot of value.
But if, like me, you buy it to watch it at decent hours because you have a daily job, and most likely will watch at least 50% of the matches, it really isn't that expensive...
It's far from the format it was before, where I bought the first GSTL pass for 5$ only because I heard the finals were f.ing awesome(and they were). But with this new format, there are a lot of chances that I buy the whole pass, from the start, instead of waiting for the finals and then pay 25$ to watch it when I'm told it's f.ing epic.

have bought every GSTL
this won't change
i look forward to DRG-MMA 2.0

Hmm any cheaper price if you bought previous versions? Like was $5 per event if u bought the previous one or something?
$25 is a bit steep though "/ even though i have a job and plenty of money i dont think for a company that said they only charge for HQ/VoDs because they use the money from this to "improve" the stream so why change from $5 to $25 0.o doesnt make much sense!

i get the price they're putting up with the expenses they'll be having with the new format, and i think it's either fully worth it, or an acceptable price with support of e-sports built in.
this being said, while it is a lot of content, you won't realistically have the time to watch all of it unless you're a diehard GSL fan and usually only watch GSL of the tournaments, and are willing to make a serious investment of time into it.
it's like this, the old GSTL was 4 days for 5$, but you got the full bang for your buck for those 4 days due to the small timeframe and intense action, which made it both more accessible and more tense. while this is 25 days, there will be heavy diminishing returns on the value of your buck unless you have the intention and/or the ability to watch it in its entirety.
and there's always the living conditions differential. 25$ is shit to say a German (random relatively well-off country) with an average job, but for say a German unemployed student or a guy with an average job from a country where average wages are significantly lower, it's a lot of dough for some starcraft.
and whatever you make, 15$ extra just to have no ads, when their ads are already the most unintrusive ads to be found in sc2 events is damn right ridiculous.
i won't be buying this one, but i get people taking it without flinching and i see myself purchasing one in the near future if the conditions are right.
still, i do think a price of ~15$ would be more in their benefit, since i for one would pay that just to support them even if i'd be able to catch only a few select matches. they have to really think about this one.

Well like some of you I have bought every single GSL open season and regular season, and I honestly feel it's a little bit too much this time....
|
If i could afford it i would for sur epick theses up. I don't see it as a huge deal tbh. Yes its a little more expensive. But consider this. 2 days a week over the course of 10 weeks. thats 20 days.
now assuming they are doing 2 sets a night. Thats could be around 14 matches a day. Which over 1 week is 28. times that by 10 weeks and you get around 280 matches.
We are not even paying 10 cents per vod at that price.
|
For some reason the GSTL sounds a bit expensive to me as well. I'm not going to have enough time to watch it all anyway so I'll just pick up the GSL. If they have a cheaper package just for the finals I'll probably pay for that.

$5 gets you 4 days of GSL, $25 gets you 25 days of GSL.
it makes a LOT of sense.

In all seriousness GOM please just make a flat monthly subscription fee.

Its more days sure, but the quality of games is sure to suffer. I think there will be quite a few walk all kills, or blooding of new inexperienced players, that lead to less entertaining games.
Not to mention 10 of those days have one Bo7 instead of 2.

Hey would you look at that, a dollar a day. before you were paying $1.25.
Um, yes, that is correct. You honestly think they'll be able to make the GSTL nearly as exciting over 2 months as they did over 4 days?

They should have a GSL/GSTL package deal.

Will there still be a free LQ standard stream?

Why would there be walkovers? This is a Korean offline league. There were practically never any walkovers in BW proleague.
