That's 20 days worth of matches for $25.
Remember the previous GSTL? That one only lasted a week, between 5-7 games total. For $10.
Guys are you totally overreacting to sticker shock. I'm buying this, this is more value for the money.
I'll say this again just to make it very clear - you paid 10 bucks for 7 days(?) for the last GSTL. This $25 covers 20 days of GSTL. Is everyone clear?
Because seriously you guys are reacting as if you're paying $25 for 1 week of GSTL which is totally untrue and a knee-jerk reaction without getting all the facts straight. You forgot to count the last 5 days of play offs.
Yeah I was too late, you caught me before my edit. But thanks, because this just goes to show how even more worth it, this is.

I'm surprised that they're charging $25 for the cheapest subscription. Since they were combining three team leagues into one longer league, I was expecting $15. $25 is an amount where I have to stop and think about whether I want to pay for the subscription where $15 was probably an instant buy.
In terms of number of games, $25 isn't out of proportion to what GOM has charged for the week-long team leagues. The NASL has shown that more games isn't necessarily better. Teams that lock up playoff seeding may not try hard in the final weeks. Some teams are going to play without their star players when they have to prepare for an important GSL match or travel to a foreign tournament for the weekend.
I also have some concerns with the casting. How will Wolf and Torch(if the CSN guys are to be believed) make terribly played games entertaining? Nothing is worse than when casters force themselves to be enthusiastic when it's obvious the players are playing bad. Yet with the GSTL casters auditioning for permanent casting jobs, we will likely see Wolf trying to make TheBest's banshee control seem exciting.
In the end, I will probably pay for the ticket since Gom has had a history of well run events. Gom has done a lot to allow Korean players to play in more foreign tournaments and for foreign players to compete in the GSL. It is just disappointing that the trend of lower subscription costs seems to have ended.

Not an issue with me, i don't pay to watch GSL when there are so many EU/NA tournaments that are much better/more macro oriented and even with better player sometimes that i can watch for free.

On a side note...I've never bought any of this...I buy the ticket...get HD quality and anything else? VODs right? And when do they "go away"? LOL or can I access them whenever I want them forever lol? Or is it just a DL system so Im keeping them to watch?
Thanks, sorry for the GOMnoob questions ^^ You get the HD VODs for the season you buy. If you decide in the future to stop buying the pass, then you will still be able to see the VODs for the seasons you bought the pass.
Ah nice. Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know! Glad it works the way I thought it would. Im now happy!
Thanks

I think they've priced it a little too high, but i'll probably get it without ads anyway. Need my fix of tastosis! Really hope they are going for 1080p, that would be really awesome, and kinda justify the price too.

btw how about adding a poll in the op ?

Yeah, would be a good idea..

Really hope they are intending to up the quality. If they increased that... I dunno, its still an equal amount of matches for twice the price as before. But if they increased the quality...
No, I still think GOM isn't doing us a good service.
|
Depends. Will it be tastosis only? If so: AWESOME If it is contaminated with other casters: Ill pass
|
I have bought every GSL ticket so far, but I think I might skip GSTL now.
|
I think the intenstion of raising price is resonable, since there are two foreign teams playing and you will see them every week. GSL have spent their money to make this happen (Teams house for FXO and several expenses for Thorzain and Naniwa) and I believe the price is understandable. This doesn't mean I like the price, but you still need to understand what they have done for us foreigners.

you actually get more value for your money with this, i dunno why people are complaining

I wish people would realise just how ridiculously inexpensive eSports (including the GSL) are.
$25 for about 200 hours of entertainment seems a pretty damn good deal to me.
|
And for some reason I was thinking about some in depth analysis of how the next GSTL would impact the players and teams and such XD, like as in the price they would have to pay for playing or something
But that's besides the point. $25 is reasonable :D, I'll gladly pay that haha, that's pretty cheap for all the games. I mean the normal Code S/A/ up down season is so cheap, it kinda balances out, right ? I'm so pumped for the new, more PL style team league for SC2, I'm sure it'll be super exciting!!!

I think $20 is my limit being a poor student... depends who is casting though would probably pay $25 for Tastosis but I don't think they will be casting this event so I will probably pass.
|
The price does make me think twice though. If it was $19.99 I'd buy it straight.
|
I don't have a problem with them charging $25 but, it seems that they've been stagnant on improving the stream quality. Once they got the low and "high" quality stream running consistently they just stopped improving it or didn't bother. Tastosis constantly say how all the money from the stream is put back into so I'm just wondering or would like to hear an answer on why the quality hasn't improved from about season 3.
If it's a matter of bandwidth/price, I would hope they had been looking for alternatives up to this point to at the very minimum provide the paying customers 720p quality stream. It just seems like we'll be stuck with crappy "high" quality stream until people make it an issue.
|
Yeah that is a bit steep imo... Also like a few posts above me said, who will be the casters? It's not worth it at all if it isn't Tastosis casting..

- You will see a lot ceremonies from the MVP team as well as DongRaeGu
- You will see Cella a lot with the SlayerS team - and maybe even a BoxeR all-kill!
- You will see the manner zerg Sheth showing his skill against top Koreans.
- You will see the rest of the FXO team in their fight against the worlds best players.
- You will see Thorzain and Naniwa and even possibly the great Swedish protoss SaSe (he's got a Code A spot) against the best players in the world!
- You can watch GSTL two days a week during the entire summer.
This for the cost of $25 or $40 without ads.Just take my money GOMTV!
Very much this post. I'm 100% getting a ticket.

I will gladly pay the 40$ and would be willing to pay more than twice for the (in my view) superior content they deliver.
I pay for watching every big tournament and league that has the option, because I know that if I want to keep watching high quality content, there has to be revenue. And I'm happy to contribute my share.
