Thank you for informing me. I am sure you know better than me what I can and cannot afford and also you seem to know exactly how much I am willing to pay for a certain product. I don't know what I would have done without your very reasonably and mature phrased input.

That's an excellent point. For $25 I can't risk it will be all-Wolf like the last one. I have nothing against him, it's just he can't make bad matches fun to watch like Tastosis can.

The price doesn't seem terrible, but that hinges completely on the answer to this question: Who's casting the GSTL?
|
I think the new GSTL format will provide some series which are watered down compared to previous GSTLs. If I understood the group phase right there can be matches which will not change who can participate in the playoffs. For this reason I don't like traditional group stages.
I watch GSTL more for the story line than for actual matches – while we had some really close matches which were exciting to watch. But with the GSL season running at the same time, the Code-S players likely need to practice so GSTL will again show mostly unknown players. With the group stage, it also gets more predictable which team will come out on top.
But with the current schedule I would rather skip GSL and watch GSTL. A GSTL series is more like a movie (considering the story line and length) like some GSL group stages.

more and more leagues have these pay-per-view options and if you`re a hardcore fan, watching starcraft in a decent quality becomes an expensive hobby : /

That is actually a good point.
I will wait to see who casts what first. Lets not forget we still have to pay for Code S if we want to watch that as well

25 for gstl + 10 for gsl = no ty

It is more about the entertainment which is provided with the cast and the overarching story line of a season. One can find SC2 matches in even better (technical) quality for free, but one does not get the GSTL experience.

Which may not be a similar experience anymore due to the new format.

They should offer a discount if you buy GSL + GSTL together :/

Woot just bought the no adds version.
God i've spent a lot of money on this GSL thing.

Yea for the majority of american college students it isn't much. But you realize some people make much less money in other countries? Not everyone is guaranteed to make $1000/mth working at mcdonalds or even has a job of any sort.
Anyways, I probably still will purchase the pass. I just can't turn down an opportunity to watch thorzain/naniwa/fxo vs koreans. I think Moonan is megatalented and will surprise. But the price is steep. I can't help but feel they know foreigners want to watch and they think they can gouge money from us.

i won 80 bucks in vegas because lebron james sucks at basketball, so I'll just use that ^^

I will probably buy the ad version - $25 is a fair price for the content I think. I have bought every other GSL event so can't stop now, and some of the early seasons were super expensive compared to now. Although, it would be nice to know the casting situation because even though I have no problems with Wolf, I would much prefer to see Tastosis doing the majority of the casting.

I don't have any problem with the ads either though. Hardly noticeable.

Wow, maybe they think since FXO is playing in it more fans will want to buy the premium. With the price so high I doubt that will be the case.
|
I just bought a ticket for a football game.. = 90 minutes+extra time, that cost me 30 quid and thats one of the cheaper premiership clubs. The quality and quanitity you get from gstl is actually completely worth it, people are getting so mad over this.
Edit: oh and remember that theres the free stream aswell, its not like you HAVE to buy it
|
I think I'm gonna stop watching gstl tournaments now. Not because of the price but because I just don't have the time to watch every tournament. Right now I'm watching all the matches in each gsl and I'm thinking of toning it down to ro16 code S and up and ro8 or ro16 code A and up. I just don't have the time to watch the gstl over a 10 week period.
