MMA – ‘Imagining victory was the driving force for my practice.’

- Your thoughts on making the semifinals (round of 4)?
Although it was a teamkill, I can’t help but be glad. Ryung and I are good friends and so even before the game, we promised to do a ceremony. Also since we promised to congratulate whoever won the game, I was able to play the game without any worries.

- You showed off many comeback victories recently.
I don’t think I have had that many, but if I had to pick one, I would say the best one was against Supernova on Xel’Naga fortress. People tell me I play better when I am unaware of being behind. I think it is because I can be very aggressive when I am in the dark about being behind.

- Do you think you had moments where you were behind in today’s games?
In the 3rd set on Xel’naga caverns, I was a bit behind but I was able to win because I secured my 3-o-clock expansion. But I do not think I was particularly far behind in any games.

- This is your 2nd teamkill.
It might be because I already had one team kill against GanZi, but the 2nd one doesn’t feel that weird. It also could be because my opponent was Ryung, but I was not nervous at all.

- You showed off a ceremony involving HwaToo (**A card game. Also known as Hanafuda in Japanese. Fun game, but not as fun as SC )
Ryung and I exchanged our thoughts about each other’s ceremonies and he said he would do a Tuna ceremony so after wondering for a while, I decided to do a ceremony involving HwaToo for my old ID ‘CchapSeungEu.’

- How about the cockfighting (**This is a Korean kids game, where you stand on leg while holding the other with your arms and hitting up against each other until one falls or or losing the grip on the leg being held up) after the match?
That ceremony was for the fans. It was Ga-yeon’s idea.

- If you were to do that (cockfighting) against another team’s player, who would you want to face?
I never thought about that. But I am friendly with LosirA and Clide so I think they would be ok.

- Who do you want to face next?
To be honest I don’t care who I have to face. It’s not because I am being confident, but they are both terrans so whoever has the better skill will win the match. However, Marineking has had good momentum recently so he may be a difficult opponent right now.

- Are you pressured by the rise in your status recently?
I think that pressure if good for me because it becomes like a medicine for more practice. Because you have to practice hard to be successful, I am taking it all in with open arms.

- Are you imagining your victory for this championship?
It is something I always imagine before falling asleep. I think imagining that victory has been the driving force for my practice. I want to feel the same thing I felt as when I won the MLG.

- Has anything changed in your approach to these matches?
I do not think anything has changed. I don’t think I can because my calendar has been so full recently. I just know that this schedule keeps me so motivated.

- Have you realized your newfound popularity?
I am feeling a bit of it. I use twitter and after winning MLG I have gained a lot more followers. I think I have gotten a bit more popular with the fans.

- You may have to face Alicia in the finals.
Alicia is really confident against terrans. So I believe his chances of advancing are pretty good.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank Ga-yeon, BoxeR and coach Cella. I have gotten here by beating GanZi and Ryung, so I will take that to heart as I face my round of 4 match.

MarineKing – ‘If MMA doesn’t fix his weakness, I will win handedly.’

- Your thoughts on making the semifinals (round of 4)?
When I looked at the brackets, the only name that popped out to me was MMA’s. I have gotten to this spot pretty easily, and as I predicted, MMA has advanced as well. Now it is about time I face the person that I thought I would have to face.

- You had a perfect victory against TheBest.
I don’t have a lot of confidence in my TvT matchup so I tried hard to shore up that part of my game. And after a while, I have gained some confidence. I have had many games against TheBest before, and I know his style very well so I was able to win easily today.

- How did you practice for today?
Recently during ladder practice, I have been favoring tech play as compared to fast expansions. And since TheBest’s style usually involves him reacting to what he sees in the early game, I decided to go back to my fast expansion play revolving around defense.

- You blocked the banshees very easily in the 1st set.
I thought he would get a fast banshee, but I was a bit panicked because it came a bit faster than I expected. I was able to block it luckily because of my opponent’s miscontrol.

- Do you feel like you had any dangerous moments during these games?
TheBest was a player that I thought I could beat without having too much trouble, so I had a lot of confidence during the match which translated to the games played out so well for me.

- This tournament seems to have many less steller names left over.
In the round of 8 bracket, you may think the name value of the players is a bit less than steller, but in terms of real skill, these players are not any less skilled than the most famous players. I believe that is why this bracket is the way it is, and I cannot relax and think I will win just because all the past winners have all fallen.

- Finals, eliminated, finals, eliminated, you have repeated this pattern. Will you get to the finals this time?
I believe as long as I can beat MMA in the semifinals, I will have a good chance at winning the whole thing. But if that pattern is a kind of jinx, I believe I can get to the finals this time.

- You have a good chance at getting to the special league finals.
I plan to practice focusing on the Super Tournament. I will use image training to come up with new strategies rather than physical practice for the Special league.

- Your prediction about the semifinal match?
I have beaten him before in a tournament setting so I believe that will be a big plus for me. I have beaten him plenty of times also during practice so I will come into the match with great confidence.

- How do you think you will play out your match against MMA?
Ever since getting into the round of 16, I have believed that I would be facing MMA in the semifinals. During that time, I have found MMA’s weakness. I will show what this is during the semifinals. If MMA doesn’t fix this weakness because coming to face me, I will make sure to win handedly against him.

- If Polt can advance, you may have to do a teamkill in the finals.
On the other side of the bracket, if Polt is the best player, he will advance, I also believe he definitely isn’t far behind anyone on that side, so I think he can definitely advance. I have not had to do a teamkill yet, but if at least one of us from the team can win the championship, I believe I can play the match without worrying.

- You will earn number 1 on the prize money rank if you win the championship.
I believe the heavens are calling on me to win this championship.

- You must have been watching all the big name players fall, what are your thoughts?
The heavens were facing away from me before, but now it is shining for me.

- Tell us, which player falling made you the happiest?
MVP is the most difficult opponent for me, so when he fell I thought that my chances of winning the championship went up dramatically.
