Trickster– ‘My goal is the semifinals’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 32?
There is much left to go, so it feels just alright. I practiced thinking that I would absolutely win.

- You showed off a mothership build in the 1st set.
It was a build that I prepared previously. I used it once long time ago, and since my opponent is pretty new, I decided to use something unusual. I was pretty surprised when the hydra rush came faster than I thought, but after blocking that I knew I had won the game.

- In the 2nd set, you must have had a tough time after your robotics were destroyed.
I thought I could block him. And in the end, my opponent overextended himself over the hill and lost most of his forces, that made the game much easier for me.

- Your next opponent will be a terran.
It doesn’t matter which one of them advances. I don’t like terrans.

- Your goal for this season?
If I can make it to the round of 8, I may have a chance at facing Fruitdealer. I want to face him in the round of 8. If we face each other there, we can guarantee that our team will have a player in the semifinals. Our team record hasn’t been so good recently, so I hope at least one of us will make it there. My personal goal is also the semifinals.

- Is your toughest challenge on the way to the semifinals Fruitdealer?
It is terrans. As long as I don’t face many terrans, I will be ok.

- Your ambition going forward in this super tournament?
I usually practice with my teammates. But this time I will change my mind and request some practice with other team’s players. My plan this time is to change how I practice and prepare even harder so that I can get good results.

- Any last comments?

TheBest – ‘I plan to restart from the beginning.’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 32?
I was pretty sad since I was losing so much recently. I am happy I could win today.

- Your reason for your poor performance recently?
I don’t think I prepared very well for my previous matches. Instead of studying my opponent with my team, I played around by myself too much.

- How did you prepare for today’s match?
I practiced with my teammates and fixed parts of my game that were lacking.

- It was a mirror match, were you under any pressure?
I am not too confident against other terrans so I was a bit nervous before the match.

- You were previously in code S, but now you fell all the way down to the preliminaries (code B), how do you feel?
That was pretty bitter. But I plan to start fresh from the preliminaries. The shock of that happening lasted only for that day.

- Choya, the playing coach, also fell to the preliminaries.
Strangely, I always seem to play my match before his match, and if I lose, he also seems to lose, and if I win, he also seems to win.

- What does this super tournament mean to you?
It doesn’t have any special meaning. It is just a chance for me to give it my best.

- Your goal for this season?
I just want to make sure to carefully prepare for my next opponent, one at a time.

- Your next opponent is Trickster.
I like facing zergs more than protoss. But I thought that would happen.

- When will you get over this slump?
I feel like every moment has become a challenge for me. I will try my best each and every time.

- You seem to have stopped using SCV rushes.
It is easily blocked. I am putting my effort into playing regularly.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank my teammates who helped me practice.

Genius – ‘I want to beat Trickster in the round of 16’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 32?
After the open seasons, this is the first time that it has been a full tournament, so I want to get as far as possible. I am happy that I was able to win today.

- Were you under any pressure because of your poor showing recently?
I think some of that was me being overconfident. But somehow after all that I feel good because I have kept my spot in the top league.

- What did you think after the brackets were posted?
I was really under alert when I faced Nada the last time. And this time, I also felt like I may lose, so I practiced a lot. I was really nervous.

- How did you feel after playing the match?
He (BoxeR) indeed played really well. I am not usually the aggressor even when I see my opponent through my observer. So, in the 3rd set, I decided to be offensive.

- What was the 2nd set like?
I was having some fun at the end so I was going to let the nuke land but my colossus got the ghost.

- Your team was able to come in 2nd in the team league.
I didn’t think we could get 2nd on our first time in the team league. So I am not disappointed in our result.

- Did you have a chance at an all-kill in the GSTL?
Nope. That would be just overconfidence. I practiced while watching DongRaeGu practice, but my skill just wouldn’t follow my thoughts.

- Any player you want to beat in the super tournament?
If I keep advancing, I could face Trickster in the round of 16. I lost all my matches against him in the past, but this time I want to win.

- Do you want to face MC?
MC is so good that he would be pretty hard for me right now. MC may be beginning to have some overconfidence issues, but I hope he plays well.

- Any personal challenges left?
The round of 16. If I face Trickster, I really want to win.

- The atmosphere around MVP (team) is really good recently.
We aren’t doing anything special. To be honest, I am just being treated as a rival by my teammates. All the code B players on the team keep making cracks at my skills being just a façade and ask me why I haven’t fallen yet. I hope they stop. (laugh).

- Any last comments?
I hope Noblesse can also get into the round of 32. I want to thank Dream and GuineaPig for helping me practice. Watch out for our team in code B.

Min –‘Reputation and legend, I will get it all.’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 32?
I don’t think I should be happy yet. Before the match, I was chatting with the observer and July. And the observer was joking to July about how he doesn’t greet people properly so he was still lacking as a person. But to be honest, I am also very lacking. I am not too happy about being the middle of my 20s as a progamer without any real results. I hope to get as far as possible this time.

- You must have been pressured to face July.
I have already faced MVP last time, so I felt rather more comfortable this time.

- How did you prepare for today?
When a player practices for a match, they usually become a bit sensitive to all the little things. This time I think I practiced so much without rest that my practice partners became sensitive too. I think we practiced 20-30 times on each map and tried to get even the minute details worked out.

- You didn’t get to play a huge role in the GSTL.
I am a bit disappointed. I wasn’t able to do much in the last GSTL either. So I regressed a little, and I was afraid that I wasn’t even pulling my weight for the food that I eat.
This time I was confident that I could beat Genius in that match so I requested that I be sent out. I guess our 1/13th of our team league victory can be attributed to me.

- Are you jealous at all at MMA for taking all the spotlight?
I am really jealous, but I don’t envy his position because he still has to go to the army. I think of him as a great colleague to work with. And someone that really gets me going as a friend. I want to become better than him, but after this GSTL I have come to really respect his him. That last match was wonderful.

- Your goal this season?
Everytime MMA gets to the spotlight, me and Ryung talk together about this in our room. We don’t care if we get called ‘lucky’ or ‘too much macro’ as long as we can win the 100 million won prize money.

- Your next opponent is Genius
I feel like I am looking to increase both my reputation and legend. I was really worried about what I would do had BoxeR won the match. Which is strange because I talked about the same thing with MMA and Ryung when they could have faced BoxeR (in code A), and BoxeR fell both times. It feels like every time I talk about something like that, it happens to me in the future. When Alicia had to face MVP in the up and down, I made fun of him, then my code A opponent turned out to be MVP. I guess I should be careful of what I talk about in the future.

- The toughest challenge left for you this season?
The round of 32. If I can get past Genius and get to the round of 16 safely, I feel like I will have found my reason for being a gamer. The round of 16 is really up there.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank Sleep, Golden, and Drughead for helping me practice. I was practicing while decreasing our sleep schedule, and they helped me without any complaints so I am really thankful. Sleep sent me a text this morning that if I didn’t mention his name in the interview today he wouldn’t practice with me anymore. But if I did he said he would help me practice for all my other matches. (**This next part was confusing and I don’t know why he’s mentioning the name thing…) My little brother is in the army right now. My original name is Hwang Min. I changed it. My brother also changed his name from Hwang Shin to Hwang Ju Myung. Everytime I hear the ID Hwang Shin, I always think about how good it is that he is not named that anymore. I hope he has a good time in the army. (**My guess is this name can mean something that can be made fun of. So if his brother still had the name, he would be made fun of in the army?)
