GanZi –‘I want to become the top SlayerS terran.’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 16?
Alicia just recently took out previous champion MC and started the league-breaker (i.e. ruining brackets) trend. We all took it to heart when we decided to become that. So I am glad I was able to fulfill that goal.

- There is a nickname going around, “league SlayerS.”
I think we are hearing that because we are showing good performance. I hope that the fans will cheering us on amongst all the great players out there.

- The 1st set must have been disappointing.
Overall, I focused on the psychological aspect of that game. I thought about how I could trick MVP by imagining being in his shoes. But it also felt a bit daunting just to be facing him. I was being a bit too cautious because of that and if not for the forces in my main at the end, I would have won. After my loss, I was pretty mad at myself. I didn’t get to show everything that I had prepared for this match. I tried to play the 2nd set so that I wouldn’t have any regrets and I was able to get a good result from that.

- You had some problems in the 3rd set.
From the audience standpoint it may have looked dangerous, but the only thing that can come at that timing are marines and tanks, and I had some hellions saved up so I thought that I could easily block it.

- The SlayerS terrans are showing a lot of mech builds lately.
GuMiho first showed off the hellion based builds in the GSTL, and it has been received well in our team. And through our research we have developed some good builds from it. I believe that the future of TvT may shift more toward mech builds.

- Were you under any pressure facing someone like MVP?
I practiced a lot, and I thought about the match a lot. I have faced many opponents in the past with styles similar to MVP that I tried to use some mind games to my advantage.

- You beat MVP, your next goal?
I want to beat MMA. As a teammate I believe in him, but in the individual leagues, my belief drops down to 50%. (laugh). However, I do think he will advance.

- You may have to face Ryung in the round of 8.
This is my chance to cement my status as the top SlayerS terran so I welcome this chance with open arms.

- Any last comments?
Both BoxeR and Ga-yeon have been a great help to me mentally. I want to thank them for lighting the fire in me for the 2nd set. BoxeR has been having a tough time recently in these tournaments. But just though his hard work, he inspires us all and becomes a great strength for our team. I hope that he can get some good results in the future. I want to thank our coach for putting forth so much effort even though he is tired. We will do our best to become the best team.

MMA – ‘I am happy to have gotten a comeback victory.’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 16?
I am so happy I can’t even speak. I thought that I was going to lose all three of those games, but I am really happy to have gotten the comeback victory.

- It seemed like you showed your best form when you were behind.
Strangely, I feel like I focus better when I am behind. I believe it is because of that.

- It seems like you have a lot of comeback wins.
I think it is because my skill is still lacking.

- How do you judge your 2nd set comeback?
I sent my medivacs in two different directions and was able to do some good damage with them. My opponent did not have the additional expansion, and I held the center position that afterwards, I knew I could win if I played it slow.

- You were also behind in the 3rd set.
I don’t know how I won because I lost so many scvs to hellions. I somehow won the game after just playing the game out. I believe I won because I did not give up position on the watchtowers.

- Your next opponent is GanZi.
GanZi really plays well in the in-house league. I will practice hard so that I can show some fun games. I hope that Ryung can also advance today as well.

- Are you worried at all about your entry to MLG?
I am more excited than worried. I want to get there fast so I can play some matches. I have heard there are many fans in the U.S.

- Which of the foreign players do you want to face?
I believe all the foreign players are very good so I don’t want to face anyone in particular, rather, I want to face all of them.

- MLG is different from the GSL where you have to play many matches in a row.
BoxeR has been filling me in on what I will need to do. Whenever he has time, he has given me a lot of advice.

- Any tips for TvT?
I believe the basic thing in TvT is to think like there are no watchtowers, and make sure to use scvs to scout and gain greater visibility before moving your entire army. (**Basically, positioning)

- Any last comments?
I want to thank Ga-yeon, BoxeR, and coach Cella. I always say this in interviews but I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. I want to also thank everyone in the SlayerS family, fOu’s GuMiho, TSL’s Heart, and Clide for helping me practice.

Ryung – ‘I want to face zerg once more.’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 16?
I was able to advance pretty easily after winning the 1st set. In the 2nd set, I was thinking about what I would say in the interview. I was overconfident and I thought I may lose that game, and then I really did lose.

- Your two teammates both advanced earlier today.
I was a bit pressured when I saw the GanZi had advanced, but then I saw the MMA also advanced after a comeback win. So I was 10 times more pressured than usual to win the match.

- The SlayerS terrans are showing their strength.
As terran players, we often talk with each other a lot, and we understand each other’s styles, so it is inevitable that our skills go up. BoxeR still puts forth the most effort out of all of us. Through his work, he creates an atmosphere where players can greatly improve his understanding of the game.

- The SlayerS terrans have been showing off their mech builds recently.
Personally, depending on my opponent or my feeling, my builds can vary drastically.

- Your next opponent will either be JookTo or Keen. (**Remember, the Bomber game was played today because of his entry to MLG not because he is in this group, Ryung will be facing the winner of the JookTo vs Keen match)
I want to face JookTo. I have gained some confidence in my TvZ while practicing for today’s match so I want to face a zerg once more.

- It looks like MMA and GanZi will be facing each other, thoughts?
If MMA plays like he did today, GanZi will beat him.

- You won’t be able to face MMA is he loses.
I beat GanZi pretty often so he will be easier than MMA. So since I want to earn more money than MMA this time, I hope that GanZi can advance.

- Any last comments?

NesTea – ‘Queen activity is important in zerg play.’

- Your thoughts on making the round of 16?
Bomber was the code A champion, so I wanted to keep my pride as the code S champion by winning. I feel content that I was able to win.

- It seems like you passed your toughest challenge.
I believe you have to think of your upcoming match as your toughest challenge every time in order to practice hard for them. Bomber was definitely tough. But I will not take my next match lightly and prepare hard for that as well. I do not think there are easy opponents.

- You showed off some bold droning and expansions in the 1st set.
I didn’t see any signs that my opponent would be moving out. I had burrow and was waiting but he didn’t come out. I had some units waiting around for an attack, but I was even thinking about not making those. When you do not mess with each other in the beginning, you get fun games like this one.

- You were able to finish off the game in the 2nd set with some great burrowed banelings.
I wanted to use burrowed banelings from the middle of the game, but I kept forgetting. I got a bit sleepy waiting for the game to begin. I had some moments in the game where I missed opportunities because I was a bit tired.

- Your next opponent will be either TOP or Choya.
I want to face Choya. I think if he isn’t nervous and plays like usual, we will have a fun match.

- Who do you want to face in the finals?
I want to face Marineking, but as a zerg player that always makes me nervous.

- What do you think about the phrase ‘I am the only zerg.’
I like hearing it. It makes me feel like a ‘lone wolf’. I think other zergs are good too but they just haven’t showed off their skills on broadcasted matches. I have been lucky to have done that. But no matter how well you play, you can always lose when you are zerg.

- What do you think about the new uniform?
I quickly looked at the forums on the community websites, and I heard that it reminded them of a hamburger place. I don’t exactly like bright colors personally, but I will wear it with thanks because of Googim’s sponsorship.

- Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion about ‘cheese rushing’, what do you think about it?
I think it is split between the player’s perspective vs. the fan’s perspective. As a player, you have to do what it takes to win. Of course, when I lose to it I get angry, but it is a strategy that is inevitable. And of course if someone used it constantly, as a fan I would lose interest because it isn’t as fun. In the end, it is a necessary evil. GSL has done a good job about trying to eliminate close distances on maps such as metalopolis so it isn’t that bad. When a zerg blocks a cheese rush perfectly, they are ahead, but it is just hard to block it perfectly.

- If you were to give an advice to zerg users?
“Pumping” is important. For most zerg users during the middle of the game, their queens are unused, and sometimes even for me, I look back and I have a queen with full mana. But when I am focused, I don’t have any queens with over 40 mana.

- Recently, people believe that roaches after the midgame lose their efficiency.
You can use roaches if you want to lose. Of course, there are no units you particularly have to use after the mid game. But I think they (roaches) are expensive and not worth the cost.

- Nada said that the changing of the guards can happen very quickly, what do you think?
I also think things can change very fast. The game itself is easier to learn than SCBW and I believe the competition will only get fiercer in the future. I believe you can quickly catch-up especially if you play terran. To me, I think LosirA plays terran better than zerg.

- Any last comments?
I think MVP will be a bit sad since he lost today. I hope he can cheer up because he can just play better next season. I want to thank my coach for always taking care of us. I also want to thank our sponsors the Googims company and Coca-cola.
