If Blizzard adds the Marketplace system, then I believe that most people will avoid buying the custom map.
First of all, less popular custom games are already struggling to find enough players. Secondly, if Blizzard restricts players to those who own the mod, then there would be a smaller pool of players. Some custom games with, say, 100-1000 downloads will have a extremely hard time finding players. What good is a mod if you don't have anybody else to play with.
Blizzard+custom maps= fail
Secondly, I agree with the collossi being such a bad unit design. It is fast and it is very polar with its ability. Nothing exciting like reaver micro (not even close). In team battles, mass collossi owns every thing on ground. I'm not saying that it is OP, but I am saying is that it is a bad unit design that makes the game more boring to watch. Honestly, I think collossi unit design is so bad that it cannot be fixed. In addition, Zerg needs a better way of dealing with seige tanks. In SC1, they had dark swarm. The only thing I can think up that they have in sc2 is the mind control. I don't know, give the zerg dark swarm and lurkers back or think of something new because I'm tired of losing with 6 bases, maxed out armies to 2 base terran with a maxed out army (I know, don't let them get maxed out but I am too greedy).
.....
Make infestor/broodlord and laugh in the terrans face?
If you have 6 bases and you dont have infestors/broodlords you are playing zvt very incorrectly.

While I do agree with you Jinro, I don't think its best for you if you continiue posting in these threads =/. People will just use the comments against you and label you as a balance complainer unfortunately.
( And 6base Ultralisk/speedbane is more lolworthy personally, like a terran-vaccuum cleaner ).

Thanks for an awesome writeup

Whoever is doing the 3D models for Nova and Kerrigan needs a punch in the face. I dislike the way that person models faces so much. Dr. Ariel Hanson looks alright, why can't the others be more like that?
|
i'm a bit confused. They say there will be new multiplayer content in the expansion, does this mean there will be a new multiplayer platform? Can you still play against other people without the expansion?
|
I have to say I do not like the new Kerrigan looks. It is a kind of afro-american. Skin and hair particularly. It is not that I am a racist or something but rather that I loved the red-haired hottie version Maybe loose the hair - like in the sc2 zerg icon or undo the rasta.

There will be separate ladders for WoL and HotS. So yes, you will be able to play on the WoL ladder (but not on the HotS one).

1- Will be any difference between permanent and temporary WoL owners? Only permanent ones will be able to use HoTS expansion? Also will HoTS have this temporary/permanent account system?
2- How this "marketplace" will work and will it affect the map pool for ladder games? New implementations money related looks pretty bad, even worse since SC is already a paid game.
3- Any chance of region merge?
4- Lurkers? (lol)
I am expecting this new expansion but at the same time I feel I'll be dissapointed when it comes up.
They were answered. 1- Yes. No. Probably.
2- Zero effect for ladder games. The market place is for people that make a "new" game with the sc2 editor. Its not for every map maker that makes something different in a map and wants to sell it. Right now, I cant remember any map that I've seen that would be able to apply to be a premium map, at least by blizzards definition of what a premium map should be back when they first announced the idea!
3 and 4 (I assume you're talking about the lurker for MP) werent featured in this preview because the preview was about SP. If you want my best guess from everything that I've been reading about the issue region merge if its ever to happen wont be in HotS and the lurker would be a nice surprise but I still wouldnt let my hopes get high. You'll probably use it in SP but apart from an idk answer they didnt say if there was a chance for it to be in.

Saying that colossus beats everything on ground is saying that it is op. You can't say that something annihilates everything but it's not op.

I see that, continuing on with Wings of Liberty, the female characters all look pretty boring, with perfect, dull skin, inexpressive eyes and boring hair.

Starcraft 2 has to be the most disapointing sequel in the history of PC games. Hopefully this expansion can change some of that.
It sure doesnt look that way tho, looks worse and worse....
Also why have the official trailers and in-game movies become so bad? It's just not manly or cool at all any more....

It's obviously not designed to appeal to the likes of teamliquid members - more like they were thinking of their eight-year-old kids. SC1 had a lot more depth and maturity to it. SC2 has about as much depth as Justin Bieber's voice.

Yea the fact that Starcraft 2 is the Justin Bieber version of Brood War also really diminishes the status the great players get.
I feel like "Woho you've become one of the best Starcraft 2 players in the world? Congratulations you have now retained a status compareable with a real pokemon grandmaster!!"
I used to be a hardcore fan. I grinded ICCup, watched all the proleague, MSL and OSL matches I could on a daily basis.
I'm so sad

Oh, so HotS will be the next warcraft in space? With the new and improoved UPGRADEABLE Kerrigan being a hero and all... Next thing you know you'll have the ability to resurrect her in mid-battle at a xelnaga church or something...

Naah... Don't think so. I understood it as a friendly hint to try a different unit composition if he is not able to break his opponent siege line while up by four bases. Free pro advice on TL

I feel like the in-game model of Kerrigan's "memories" w/e her name is does not do Samwise's badass concept art nearly enough justice

just one quick question:
will there be 2 different ladder for wol and hots with 2 different GM division per region?
i wish you can choose from start screen with part of sc2 you want to play like sc start screen. That would be pretty simple and clever solution instead of seperating these 2 parts.
|
I don't understand all this questions about the ladder. Have you guys played other games? New game = new ladder. New expansion = new ladder.
