Nice write up. I'm wondering if competitive play with transfer to HS for beta or will it wait for release to be more stable and balanced?

Also, I think I read in an old interview that Blizzard's standards for the map marketplace are going to be extremely high, to a point where perhaps even Blizzard DotA would not make the cut.

A lot of those upgrades seem overpowered as shit.

They will need to make the campaign really hard to justify them lol

I mean, in WoL you can beat brutal with mass marinez, probably can beat HOTS with mass roach unless you need antiair a lot.

wow this was a huge surprise! im not sure about a lot of the zerg changes though...theyre getting further and further away from the world and lore established in the original SC and BW.

i also, after posting, realized i had serious typos and custom maps are also multiplayer. duuh me. just woke up and had serious brain latency.

but besides the multiple bitching (booya) about my poll, its interesting alot of people may pay for "modification" like maps from third party companies, which is, if you put a bit thought into it, what blizzard is propably aiming for since they mention the "app store".

they will propably charge a fee for every sold map/mod an make a shitload of money if third party companies put something out that will get a lot of downloads. like an app store/steam etc. its a distribution platform for their their engine i guess.

and this is what i tried to figure out wich my poll did, so i you could have just answered no - no money T_T and not being a tool.

HoTS is going to be awesome! Really like what I'm hearing so far. The marketplace seems like a great addition and really should encourage for some high end maps/mods/games to be made.

awesome preview guys, and even though I don't play as Zerg im kinda super hyped for the new SP stuff... though kinda bumed that they are cutting down on the number of SP missions... as didn't they said they would all have an equal amount of SP missions for the 3 races??

But here's to hoping we see a decent bit of the MP @ blizzcon and I get into the beta :D

1 of their 3 units.

The Baneling upgrades look pretty boss, especially the Splitterling. The Zergling upgrades also look pretty scary. However, I do agree that the Roach's upgrades are dull, except for their leech life ability.

Any tournament that has begun as WoL, or begun qualifiers as WoL, will stay WoL. Any tournament which is yet to start or start its prelims, will switch.

That is my guess anyway. For WC3 you could see them using the original game for an extra year because they had already announced/started prelims etc, but most tournaments switched pretty quickly IIRC.

Now I can see why WoL's gameplay is rather enjoyable while the story is sub-par. It seems like they try to find fun ways to play a mission first, then plug in some credible story behind it.

Really excitet for the campaign. I think it's very intresting that they said they're considering to remove certain units that are "not so cool".

I really hope they change corruptors. The whole idea of a flying worm thing with no visible wings and snake tales just seems wrong to me.

I'm glad they are taking a bit more time for multiplayer since WoL story line seemed half assed to me except for the important parts (which there weren't that many). To the haters who think this means less emphasis on multi-player.... They never really said that and I'm pretty sure they have slightly different teams for each. What they said, at least what I took from this article, was that they were trying harder to improve multiplayer to attract less hardcore players. Don't know where it said try less hard to balance and make multiplayer fun.

Really looking forward to units added and deleted from multiplayer. As a SCBW Zerg I would like some of the old feel back to consider the race again. (squad raiding more as opposed to unit balling in late game). As a current Protoss player I hope they take out or fix dark shrine vs Templar archive business or at least put something useful in darkshrine like an upgrade. Maybe even a secondary unit for both Templar paths. Currently it seems overly invested in early game.

I also hope they don't fuck this up like they did with expansion to Command and Conquer 3 where they made each faction split into 3 and have 9 essential races with small variations between each faction. That pretty much rendered that game even more unplayable than it already was. I'm sure d.apllo can agree with me there. Since D. Browder is in charge it's a pretty possible threat.
