its true that you don't have to lose games to get into GM league. But also, Pillage does not actually have a 69-0 record. If you check his record, he did lose a couple games but for some reason the system didn't pick it up even though it shows in his match history.

There's certainly mounting evidence that suggests that there's an issue.

Remember there was a hotfix deployed a few weeks ago that changed the MMR thresholds to even out the league population percentiles on NA. About 1-2 weeks ago that same hotfix was deployed for the other regions. Regions like RU and LA that had a majority of players in Bronze were having their Bronze populations drop by 1-2% per day, a sign that the hotfix was working. About one week ago, though, the populations stagnated.

Thanks for the insight. It's good to know that there is evidence to show a problem exists and that we're not being deluded by our own desires to be promoted.

If this really is the case I hope they're fixing it. I'm kinda mad since I've been playing a lot of games (and won them). Yet no promotion.

Hopefully it gets sorted asap.

Blizz may have also had to lock ladder for a few days for some kind of upgrade server side.

I have a feeling league moving isn't as easy as changing a few variables with how complex and stupid bnet 0.2 is.

Jinro brought enough evidence to prove it, I have no doubt, even though there's no official statament about it.

It's either a bug or a forced block to fix some other bug, but I won't be surprised if the league reset soon for some reason.

Lastly:

1) MMR is still in effect. That means that as soon as it gets fixed (or reset*) you will get promoted/demoted and even skip leagues if necessary.

2) Bonus pool is still increasing at the same pace, normally, that also means that GM players are still being kicked from GM league as soon as they reach 181 bonus pool. But they cannot get into another league after that!

3) Blizzard didn't tell us about it, so they could also fix it at any moment and not tell us anything, so don't be surprised if you get promotion/demotion at any instant.

Is there anyone reading this thread that actually has been promoted or demoted in the past few days? It's anecdotal but might still give us an idea of whether this is really happening.

I was promoted from plat to diamond about 2 weeks ago. It took longer than normal, and it was 2 weeks ago, but take that as you will.

I think a clear indication is when you start losing games against evenly matched players. Coming up from portrait farm, I have yet to play an evenly matched player (all slightly or completely favored), so while my ratio has fallen to a lowly 70% or so over the past 50 games (against gold and platinum, and now only against platinum), I am still in the bronze division I joined when I dropped ~80 games in a row. The promotion system just waits until you are going about 50/50 against evenly matched opponents, which requires quite a few losses versus favored opponents (or else you would just keep playing favored ones). I think this is why most people say you have to lose a bunch in a row if you're on a streak and just want to promote.

I don't see the point. If I'm just playing mid and high platinum, and the games are somewhat challenging, I really don't care if I'm in bronze. Bring on the diamond players.

Edit: I'm 12-7 over my past 19 (still all vs slightly favored)...so I expect over the next 30 or so games I dip below 50% and start seeing even matches, then get moved to platinum, or diamond if I'm really lucky :^)

Yeah you need to lose some in order to get promoted.

I was placed into Bronze and then won my next 18 games without promotion. After I lost 2 games and then won 1 more, I was immediately promoted to Gold, totally skipping Silver.

Evenly matched does not mean that you are the same skill level. The thing you see before the game is an idication of how many points you'll receive or lose for winning or losing.

You and your opponent can both show each other as favored. This is one of the main examples in Exalibur's Thread. (it's comparing your MMR to your opponents converted point total) You can surely tell by the QUALITY of your opponent, but not by what b.net says the game is "worth".
If you start playing people on your level you'll know you're close to evening out.
Essentially the system matches you based on MMR, and then compares your MMR to your opponents points to decide how much the match is actually worth because the system wants to put your MMR and your Points to relatively the same area. This isn't on topic but your post doesn't really help.

I agree with you thought, people are way too caught up in ranks, but on the other hand why shouldn't they? They've put in the time and effort into playing and being better, I like to have something to show for my efforts..

I have the "Grandmasters Not Yet ranked" (been about 2 weeks). I plan to play some more 1v1's tonight, im like 10-1 in the past few games in the top of my gold division. In 2v2 top of my platinum random teams i've lost 15 or so out of the past 20 or so games. I will try to continue these trends and see what comes of it.

Promotions often take more than just 50 games... especially if you're winning 95%. Many people misunderstand how the promotion system works. Many think that the higher your winratio, the faster you get promoted. Not necessarily true.

im top in bronze 4v4. about 40 wins. i go on 10 win streaks and then go 2-1 vs gold + players and no promotion. im gold 1v1 and dont understand why im still bronze 4v4.

I agree, you and I are saying the same thing about player quality: While maybe only 10% of my opponents I feel really are outclassing me in games (and my game is improving pretty quickly itself...I think that some in that group 80 games ago I would just roll now), every single opponent is listed as slightly or totally favored, so I accumulate ladder points very quickly. And like you're saying, when the majority of my opponents are on par with me or better, I'll be ready to change leagues.

As far as having "something to show from my efforts"...for me, the thing to show is how skilled my opponent is. If I were only matched with one-basers who have 20 workers all game, I'd be pretty angry with bnet. In that regard, bnet does a very good job, as I'm slowly getting closer to having consistently challenging games. I would play on ladder just as much as I do now if there were no leagues or rankings. In fact, I'd much prefer a flat server rank based on nothing but MMR, but Blizzard would never do that because of the idiots out there who think that being in gold or platinum league means anything when they probably still have an MMR in the lower half. Those types would hate to see that they're player 523,345 out of a million. But I'd have much more fun if I saw myself move up 923 spots with a big win, etc.

I just love the people at the beginning of the thread telling the OP that his "MMR confidence must increase" or, "you need to lose some games at the end of a winning streak" like they know what his situation is without an inkling of knowledge of what's going on. I imagine that a lot of threads turn into flame-wars because of posters like this who post answers to questions when they haven't researched at all into the problem or even really read the specifics of the OP's situation to know that their advice isn't helpful.

I have been winning a lot of games and I just met a diamond (I am in plat) beat him and then the game after I met a gold, beat him too. Checked both their profiles neither of them had a loss/winstreak. I find this kinda strange
A game where the first thing you do is scout with a “worker”. Does that make any sense? Who scouts with a “worker”? That’s like sending out the janitor to perform recon, what general would do that? Retarded game.

So you played a low diamond and a high gold player. There's nothing strange about that, it's not as though there's some huge rift between leagues.
