Or how Pillage could hack himself to GM with 69-0? its true that you don't have to lose games to get into GM league. But also, Pillage does not actually have a 69-0 record. If you check his record, he did lose a couple games but for some reason the system didn't pick it up even though it shows in his match history.

Remember there was a hotfix deployed a few weeks ago that changed the MMR thresholds to even out the league population percentiles on NA. About 1-2 weeks ago that same hotfix was deployed for the other regions. Regions like RU and LA that had a majority of players in Bronze were having their Bronze populations drop by 1-2% per day, a sign that the hotfix was working. About one week ago, though, the populations stagnated. These are initial placements. If league changes were active, we would be seeing LA and RU in particular continuing to drop significant numbers of players out of Bronze day by day.

Thanks for the insight. It's good to know that there is evidence to show a problem exists and that we're not being deluded by our own desires to be promoted. ![]()

I have a feeling league moving isn't as easy as changing a few variables with how complex and stupid bnet 0.2 is.

It's either a bug or a forced block to fix some other bug, but I won't be surprised if the league reset soon for some reason. Lastly: 1) MMR is still in effect. That means that as soon as it gets fixed (or reset*) you will get promoted/demoted and even skip leagues if necessary. 2) Bonus pool is still increasing at the same pace, normally, that also means that GM players are still being kicked from GM league as soon as they reach 181 bonus pool. But they cannot get into another league after that! 3) Blizzard didn't tell us about it, so they could also fix it at any moment and not tell us anything, so don't be surprised if you get promotion/demotion at any instant. Edit: reset*: I mean league resets, season 3.

I don't see the point. If I'm just playing mid and high platinum, and the games are somewhat challenging, I really don't care if I'm in bronze. Bring on the diamond players. Edit: I'm 12-7 over my past 19 (still all vs slightly favored)...so I expect over the next 30 or so games I dip below 50% and start seeing even matches, then get moved to platinum, or diamond if I'm really lucky :^)

I was placed into Bronze and then won my next 18 games without promotion. After I lost 2 games and then won 1 more, I was immediately promoted to Gold, totally skipping Silver.

Also I've played 80 games of season two now, been at rank 1 silver since like game 10. I'm playing against rank 1 golds and low plats and still not promotion, so maybe it does have something to do with the hotfix if your account was one of those that would have been disconnected previously. The difference between high silver and low plat is smaller than you think. Just keep playing.

Coming up from portrait farm, I have yet to play an evenly matched player (all slightly or completely favored), so while my ratio has fallen to a lowly 70% or so over the past 50 games (against gold and platinum, and now only against platinum), I am still in the bronze division I joined when I dropped ~80 games in a row. The promotion system just waits until you are going about 50/50 against evenly matched opponents, which requires quite a few losses versus favored opponents (or else you would just keep playing favored ones). I think this is why most people say you have to lose a bunch in a row if you're on a streak and just want to promote. I don't see the point. If I'm just playing mid and high platinum, and the games are somewhat challenging, I really don't care if I'm in bronze. Bring on the diamond players. The thing you see before the game is an idication of how many points you'll receive or lose for winning or losing. You and your opponent can both show each other as favored. This is one of the main examples in Exalibur's Thread. (it's comparing your MMR to your opponents converted point total) You can surely tell by the QUALITY of your opponent, but not by what b.net says the game is "worth". If you start playing people on your level you'll know you're close to evening out. Essentially the system matches you based on MMR, and then compares your MMR to your opponents points to decide how much the match is actually worth because the system wants to put your MMR and your Points to relatively the same area. This isn't on topic but your post doesn't really help. I agree with you thought, people are way too caught up in ranks, but on the other hand why shouldn't they? They've put in the time and effort into playing and being better, I like to have something to show for my efforts.. I have the "Grandmasters Not Yet ranked" (been about 2 weeks). I plan to play some more 1v1's tonight, im like 10-1 in the past few games in the top of my gold division. In 2v2 top of my platinum random teams i've lost 15 or so out of the past 20 or so games. I will try to continue these trends and see what comes of it.

I will try to continue these trends and see what comes of it. I agree, you and I are saying the same thing about player quality: While maybe only 10% of my opponents I feel really are outclassing me in games (and my game is improving pretty quickly itself...I think that some in that group 80 games ago I would just roll now), every single opponent is listed as slightly or totally favored, so I accumulate ladder points very quickly. And like you're saying, when the majority of my opponents are on par with me or better, I'll be ready to change leagues. As far as having "something to show from my efforts"...for me, the thing to show is how skilled my opponent is. If I were only matched with one-basers who have 20 workers all game, I'd be pretty angry with bnet. In that regard, bnet does a very good job, as I'm slowly getting closer to having consistently challenging games. I would play on ladder just as much as I do now if there were no leagues or rankings. In fact, I'd much prefer a flat server rank based on nothing but MMR, but Blizzard would never do that because of the idiots out there who think that being in gold or platinum league means anything when they probably still have an MMR in the lower half. Those types would hate to see that they're player 523,345 out of a million. But I'd have much more fun if I saw myself move up 923 spots with a big win, etc.

The ladder is bugged right now. That is probably the best explanation of your situation, OP. Unlike the posters who overreacted and blinded posted irrelevant answers, I give you a source: http://sea.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/127572802 TL;DR: Yes the ladder is bugged. http://sea.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/127572802 Read that.

There's nothing strange about that, it's not as though there's some huge rift between leagues.
