1-15 hours per week (tho more towards the lower end of that the last months), really depends on my schedule and how I feel like. Ladder mostly.

~3800 masters last season

I'd say mechanics and just learning how to read your opponent are the most important for just 'getting' into masters, to climb higher you need to work on execution etc

Perhaps you shouldn't ask how many hours masters play per week. Perhaps you should ask how many hours did they play per week to get there. Because maintaining a skill level requires much less time and effort than obtain it, unless you're talking about top top, but even there it's debatable. So it's no surprise a lot of people putting stupid low amounts of hours per week.

I don't find this to be accurate in the slightest.

It's not only inaccurate, it's like the exact opposite of what actually happens, and I seriously doubt the guy who posted that is in master's.

Anyway OP, I spend about 60-90 minutes on weekdays and maybe a couple hours on weekends playing.

Not this weekend tho cause im at my parents' house for easter^^

I guess most people in Masters get in Masters by just outplaying people in a macro game? bahahahaha don't be so hilarious.

I'm not being "hilarious" - this is exactly what happens; either macro games or shorter games that end with a powerful 1 base push. Either your definition of "cheese" is way too broad, or you are not in master's league.

I rarely see Ts or Zs cheesing, Protoss' do some retarded 1 base shit like every second game against me though.

I guess I inflated my %, it's more like 70%, my bad.

I agree with Chill, I've been 6pooled/proxied twice since I reached master, where as in the lower leagues it's almost as common as in 2v2s. I suppose if you call 4gate cheese you get cheesed 33.3% of the time, if your a protoss player yourself.

2 hours, sc2 is a really easy game and with basic understanding of RTS you should be able to get a good rating in masters with minimal effort.

? Masters is top 2% so actually only 2% of everyone can be masters. If everyone had good macro/micro there would still only be 2% in masters.

I play about 3-4 games a day, masters.

Don't buy coaching lessons unless you are well off financially, make sure you watch educational videos and lots of replays when you are not playing. There is no way around getting good other than plenty of practice and game experience. You'll reach master eventually if you play often enough, even if it's not in a year's time. There is a reason why progamers have to work so hard as well in order to be good at this game.

Under two hours. I played WC3 at a high level and put considerably more time into it.

The biggest 'secret' isn't being able to spend time to mass games, or crunch strategies, it's just being able to learn from your mistakes and analyze what you did wrong. If you can regularly and cleanly analyze and fix flaws in your play, you'll rank up way, way faster.

Since season 2 I must have been cheesed like 3 or 4 times in 100 or so games.
Unless you count 1 base terran pushes, 2 base protoss/zerg all ins as cheese ?

anyone who played RTS at a decent level before, wether it be broodwar, wc3, dow, cnc,coh and kinda understands how RTS work should ahve no problem getting in. There are just alot of players who dont have alot of experience and thus lacking mechanics and alot of players from WoW/non rts games who simply dont get it yet,

i play like 4-6 games a week on my main acc which is masters (which ive fought like 2 people so far this season who have cheesed in my 50 games, i define cheese as trying to win before 6minutes or by 1 base players pulling all their scvs to attack)

then like 6-12 games a week on my friends acc that i only play when were hanging out together trading off games.

id estimate i play around 2 hrs/week on my acc and 3-4 hrs/week on my friends acc.

I play less than 2 hours a week on my main and 1 hour a week on my smurf EU account. I work full time and go to school full time. In a few weeks our semester ends though and I'll be able to play much more.

I probably play like 10 to 20 games per week, which is like 3 to 6 hours

Ladder.

You can easily get into Masters & stay in Masters if you can "master" defending cheese, which is 98% of the time in Master league matches.

oh please learn the defenition of cheese before posting nonsense.
