It's also 2 supply and tanky making it more like a protoss or a terran unit than a zerg unit.
This 100x over.

They were saying that mostly single player will be discussed so don't know how much info will be revealed about multiplayer. The SP additions could shed light on some MP possibilities but that is some big speculation because WoT has a ton of units not in MP.

You need to Own WOL before you can install HOTS

Aww, nothing about multiplayer. That's what I'd be getting HotS for anyway.

Has this been 100% confirmed yet? I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up as an "expansion" but also a standalone.

What I was wondering for quite some time and maybe it has already been discussed somewhere else: If the SC2 editor is really that powerful, then it should be no problem to include possible new multiplayer units of HotS in WoL custom maps.
The only arguments for buying HotS should therefore be ladder and campaign (where a custom ladder could possible be added as discussed on some threads before)
Am I missing something?
Edit: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=181533 customladder idea

Don't be surprised if it's another $60. The Blizzard of 2011 is not the Blizzard you used to know.

I wouldn't exactly be surprised either. It seems like that's becoming more and more common method in the game industry, because shrinking your potential buyer base from 'everyone' to 'only people who own the original' is pretty dumb, even if it does move a few more copies of the original, I doubt it's worth the cost of eliminating most of your potential buyers.
I can see people being pretty upset about it though.

seriously. it's just not the same company anymore. bnet2.0 was the beginning of the end for me. i'm just waiting to see how bnet2.0 will screw up Diablo3 and make me just stick with Valve, where the content updates are free and the DLC stuff is all truly optional. Blizzard is already selling premium WoW services for additional cost and is working on introducing more things to sell at a premium (for a subscription game where you have to buy expansions), and pretty soon they'll be selling SC2 custom maps like they're iPhone apps.

zerg needs a serious overhaul in my opinion, there is no 1 supply unit, the roach is a protoss in zerg skin, the hydra is a slow and high tech marine, the corruptor is too boring, there is not enough stuff on the T3, ultralisks are terribad for their cost and... thats all I can think of right now, but seriously, whos with me in that zerg is just boring. the only fun/interesting units are zergling, baneling, muta, infestor, overseer and broodlord. the rest is just "generic unit that is on ground/air and can attack ground/air and isn't even very good at it."

Things certainly seems to have changed from BW... The beefy protoss units we know are all gone, left is a glass army dependant on gimmicky forcefields, and Roaches being pretty much the most cost efficient unit in the game...
From a balance standpoint i suppose it's fine, but i did like the unit design of BW a lot more

Yeah but Value only gives you free stuff to make sure you're constantly on Steam buying games on sale. Plus they're the only company with a slow release schedule than Blizzard. Did you know there is already more time in-between Half Life 2 and 3 than 1 and 2?

Yeah, I think Blizzard is going to make Kerrigan into a Ret Pally.

This is gonna be awesome! Really looking forward to be a zerg in story mode.

Pretty sure it's not going to change considering World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and Blizzard in general.

Certainly not me. ZvX games are by far the most exciting games to play and watch IMO. I just want to see a few new units, maybe some interesting upgrades for lesser used units, and minor changes to the existing game if any, certainly not an overhaul that would be too much. Two burrow buttons please!
Though I do want do indulge a bit and share an idea I had, the zerg reverse forcefield! Make a spellcaster that shoots a giant blob of creep which allows zerg units to go up and down cliffs or over forcefields, allowing them to create open terrain at will! I have no idea if it would work or be fun, but it sounds cool.

I just want to know how the multiplayer will be affected by HotS.
|
I don't think it's that outlandish to suggest that they'd release a $60 "standalone"/ WoL/HotS package and a $40 HotS expansion.
|
I don't want an overall rework, but they need to tweak corruptor and roaches when you know how they failed at finish their design in Alpha.
