It is funny how people scoff at the idea of paying 25 bucks for many hours of entertainment, with 1080 quality when they can watch it whenever they want. They get especially upset at the notion of having to watch a commercial here or there.
In the meantime the same clowns probably spend over 100 bucks a month on their cable television and movie channels and other garbage which is loaded with commercials. And they probably still manage to go to the movies theaters now and then which costs about 20 bucks if you buy snacks. Even when the movie finally starts you still have to sit through 10 or 15 minutes worth of commercials (previews).
I am also willing to bet the largest factor driving sales of HD televisions is not movies, but football. People will pay $1200 on a televison and huge money per month on sports subscription packages and dvr but ask for $25 for 3 months of starcraft and they will kick and scream.
If starcraft players aren't willing to shell out then no one will be. Its quite obvious that we are not at the point where eSports is going to take off any time soon. At least not in NA.

They have commercials because they have sponsors, if they can't publicize their sponsors - they would not have sponsors, NASL would not go ahead and you would be left with nothing; so don't go ahead and whinge about it. I'll be doing the same as the GSL pass, seeing how it all works while running and deciding to buy then but $20/$25 for 3 months of entertainment, and lets be honest, they're will be good games - those questioning that are deluded/ignorant, is well worth the money and cheaper than a lot of things.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to disagree with you there. GSL actually has the best players in Korea and the foreigners that could travel there and qualify. I see a lot of foreigners that would've raped most of the Code A players, but never went to Korea to participate in the GSL.
In my opinion, NASL is a lot closer to 'The best in the world' than GSL, without actually being all the very best players in the world.

I'll definitely be willing to buy this, after all I've had no problem getting passes for all the GSLs, and while this is not quite the same level of competition, it isn't an order of magnitude different, and there is top talent and probably some different styles of play.
The thing is, I won't do it now. I'm still waiting to see how they iron out the inevitable bumps, and whether production quality, which can't possibly be as good as GOMs, is at least clean and watchable.

I probably won't buy the ticket, though I might drop by the free stream occassionally, depending on the players playing. Maybe I will after a few seasons, when most of the players inside the tournament actually are "the best players the world has ever seen" as the promo-video promised. <.<

Unless they get much better casters and production value, I don't think I'll be paying for the $25. If they get DjWheat and his group on board, then I might pay it. But their casters are incontrol and gretorp? They did an absolutely TERRIBLE job during clash of the titans, so my interest isn't that great right now.
|
This is such a great deal, kind of boggles my mind why people wouldn't get it (unless they hate watching starcraft 2, in which case why are you even on this website). I would have already paid the $25 and having it 20% to buy it now is pretty awesome.
I'll have to work during most of it just like the GSL (okay I actually sleep during the GSL) so having full access to VODs and everything is great. Don't mind commercials at all, since it's only further helping the league pay for everything and there's nothing wrong with that!
|
25$ would be fine if the production quality was super-awesome but right now noone really knows so it's just a huge gamble. I'd pay 25$ if the production quality was awesome, like GSL. But when I run the risk of paying 25$ for Clash of the Titans showmatch production, then no thanks I'll pass.
I would like to support e-sports and I already do by purchasing MLG/IEM/GSL but I'm not gonna blindly support every project that comes up and either succeeds or fails.
Maybe I will after I have actually watched it live a few times if it's worth it, but I still think only having that one payment plan is pretty dumb. Why not make a few alternatives? Like season 1 pass 25$, 1month pass 8.50$, season 2 discounts for people who bought a full season 1 pass or perhaps even a VOD package that gives you access to vods but not the 1080p livestream. At least that would make the tournament more accessible for people who doesn't want to blindly shell out money.

Everyone is all excited for E-sports finally getting big and taking off, but nobody is willing to pay, so typical though... we want everything free and commercial free, but if it was all free, there would be no price pools and the quality would go to shit...
Pay and support if you want the game to continue to grow ='/

I think I'll pass. As much as I would like to support the ESPORTS scene, I'm way too broke. I'll be tuning in though with great fervour.

53% no? Seriously? You all want e-sport to grow and yet you cant give out 25$ for a huge amount off content to support our NA league... Pathetic if you ask me..
Now is the time to show the big companies and sponsors that e-sport can succeed.. Seriously come on now..

The price isn't what I'm concerned about its just the payment system...I don't like the formatting of the site nor do I particularly enjoy paying by credit card so like I said I'm just going to wait for Paypal option. Then I'll gladly pay 20 dollars.

I swear, this year could be THE year for e-sports, and the community is going to ruin it. I hate every single person that comes in here and whines about every single thing imaginable in a league that people worked their asses off to get up and running.
Support NASL. Support E-Sports. Support SC2.
Support comes from critical consideration and the exchange of ideas on how to improve, not from blind following. If the customers/fans of the NASL do not hold the league accountable to some form of standards, then the league will fold from being terrible. Appreciate that support comes in different forms. Once they build up our trust I will be willing to give them a pass on some things that I don't at the moment. Besides, they have been pretty vocal about inviting the community to hold them accountable -- don't confuse that kinda thought with the handful of anti-NASL trolls.

Support NASL. Support E-Sports. Support SC2. I'll support it buy watching the free streams. They aren't doing this "For the love of the game". They're doing it to get rich. You can't force something into reality by throwing money at it, if e-Sports is meant to happen in the West (I personally feel it is), filling Russ' pockets with your money isn't going to make it come any faster. All this is doing is setting a precedent for more leagues to start and keep charging money. How many leagues can you afford to watch?
Yeah man, FIGHT THE MAN, show him that he's not taking your precious $20 out of your pocket and using it to support the biggest starleague in north american history. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
Also Illuminati exists, Roswell is a government conspiracy and Obama is a Muslim

Few questions:
1. To have access to this NASL Season One through Justin.tv do I have to purchase anything else from Justin.tv to view like VIP service they offer or is this one time seperate payment?
2. Where will the VoDs be hosted on Nasl.tv directly, Justin.tv or will I be able to view them through any type of media players and not be forced to watche embedded videos?
3. Will I be able to use any of VoD features to download them and watch them on Android phone / iPhone on the go
4. Will any of the VoDs be hosted on third party sites like youtube that will ruin the whole purpose of paying for the season ticket if you can't watch every day live?
5. What efforts is Nasl.tv making to try and stop twitter / facebook and post made directly by the company and streaming partner Justin.tv from posting spoilers of matches that some viewers will have to wait till later point to watch?
Looked at F.A.Q on site and previous post but I still had these questions. If they had been previously answered in a 100+ page thread I appoligize for asking them again but they are relevant to me as someone who is intending to buy every season ticket.

I don't know what they mean with minimum commercials? It's not like they are going to show games on the pay stream when the free stream is watching commercials, doubt they'd have anything other than a camera showing the casters but with no sound on. Yeah I won't be buying.
|
Well I am going to pay up the $ for NASL, but at this point it is more buying on faith since I haven't seen anything reassuring about production values. And seriously, no confirmed start date yet!? Where's the Paypal option?
I work alot of hours and content-wise this will probably overload me, but I don't want to look back and regret not supporting eSport.
