No, we don't need to pay up for that. That's what the sponsors are for. They pay money so we get to see their products plastered everywhere.

Im going to wait to see whats actually offered and what the quality of the product actually will be before I pay.
how many times have we heard 'content coming soon!' from infinite companies/websites not just pertaining to esports, a billion?
if it's indeed 3 months for 20/25 that's not bad at all so long as the product doesn't suck and there actually IS content.

Not enough information to decide...

no I won't pay to watch the thing I love doing, I'm not a contributing member to this community! IM A LEECH FFS!
I'll definitely be buying a ticket. I am not going to be preordering a pass, but it isn't because I am 'cheap.' I am willing to pay a premium for premium content, but my problem (and many TLers problem i imagine) is that the NASL hasn't proven that they will be providing premium content. The numbers and promises sound good, but there are precious few details, and not really any evidence that it will be worth the money. It we get into the beginning of the league and it is as good as they say it will be (and minimal commercials is actually minimal), then I will happily pay 25$ for a pass.

I subscribed, great deal for 3 months of content. Can't wait! Although I didn't find out about the coupon code until after I subscribed lol

Great deal! Just bought my ticket!

But don't be surprised when they have to cancel the league because of not enough support, and you're left without all of the content they produce.
I swear, this year could be THE year for e-sports, and the community is going to ruin it. I hate every single person that comes in here and whines about every single thing imaginable in a league that people worked their asses off to get up and running.
Support NASL. Support E-Sports. Support SC2.
This. (Except I probably don't hate all of you. Just most of you.)
Unfortunately, esport's growth hinges largely on how lucrative it is. If it's going to grow in the west, it has to make money in the west. I think there are things about the tournament management and broadcasting that could be better, but if I'm too narrow to see the big picture and how pivotal this thing is for the foreign community and on those grounds refuse to buy the package, it only slows growth and keeps things from improving.
Think of it more like a donation to North American esports with some vods thrown in.
I'm as broke as a joke. Too cheap to buy ramen, I buy the $2 bag of russet potatoes. Just pumped that I get $5 off by pre-ordering it. That's two bags of potatoes! Seriously, though. When commercial free GSL is $10 or whatever it is for a month, $7 a month for "minimal commercials" seems reasonable.
(completely unrelated: for those watching the world tournament, I think Papa John is using too much botox.)
All that being said, even if this tournament flops (and I don't think it will), there will be others. Western companies have been behind Korean esports for a long time.
Sexy Coke cans at the GSL?
And if I'm not mistaken, didn't there used to be a bw tournament sponsored by Pringles?

I just wanted to say how I will be buying a pass and I find the pricing to be completely reasonable. (I'd prefer $20 everytime but maybe they will have something similar to GSL where you get a discount if you bought last seasons)
Of the disposable income I do have, I'm much more inclined to spend some of it on tried and tested ventures like the GSL and MLG currently
That is completely reasonable. I have watched almost all of the gosucoaching stuff and I know that some of the people involved with that site are involved with the NASL and are very professional and would not expect anything less. I believe that they have also stated that they would have stream and VOD samples up for people to view before making a purchase which may be enough for some people.
Most people posting are people who will not pay for this kind of service no matter what which is fine. Just wanted to add in a different opinion on the matter.
Yay ESPORTS! ^_^

Essentially what we are paying for is video content. Paid video content normally has advertising, like it or not, both tv and movies, web based and traditional.

Not paying 25$, but it's not because I'm butthurt over the services provided or whatever; it's because I already watch the GSL every month, and that with my gaming (and my girlfriend streaming her shows) pretty much straps me on my bandwidth cap every month. I won't drop GSL to watch NASL, sorry, there's just not enough intresting players there. Maybe if there is alot of games that are really exciting, I'll drop GSL, but otherwise, I'm not buying a ticket

This is a great deal and I will be buying. The people who are saying it is to much are probably the same ones that will pay $12 for a movie ticket...
The only reason not to pay, if you are going to watch, is if you are worried about the quality of the league since it a startup; which I could see. Would love to see a little promo cast or something to get an idea what it will be like.
|
Probably won't pay for season 1. Season 2, however, I will if Season 1 goes well.
|
i dont even pay for GSL (which i should because that is the definitive league) and those games are actually live...

Boxer, MC, Tyler, NaDa aren't interesting? But yeah having bandwith cap sucks :< I feel for you, but the player line up is pretty interesting

I don't pay for GSL, don't have a reason to pay for NASL when I can see the same big names in other tournaments for free, who provide the VODs for free, and who have established a name for themselves apart from blowing a lot of hot air at the community.

When NASL is better than the random stuff over there -----> it might be worth money

The WC is a one-off you know?

First I will watch the cast if its any good I will get a ticket. :D If the cast sucks I wont get it.. Pretty simple decision making.
The only reason this league might fail is the production. I really doubt that the games will suck with that many high-profile players.

Depends how i like the presentation, and how much cash i have

Unfortunately I won't because they failed to convince me their invites were good.
