is it just me or does it seem like a huge majority of the SC2 community is either incredibly cheap or insanely poor? for anyone that actually has a job $25 for 3 months of content is NOT a lot of money ... especially these days... a night at the movies with a friend costs $25 and that's only 2 hours of entertainment lol.. for the amount of content they are offering $25 is totally reasonable.. especially considering the success of NASL means higher chance of success of e-sports in NA in general and since it's their first year they need that extra help.. for me even thinking of it as a pure donation just to help e-sports grow justifies it..
and just because your paying for something it doesn't entitle you to no commercials. I pay for sirius satellite radio and they still play commercials at times... yes it's not ideal, but it's amazing how many people are whining and being little babies about it.. with these types of attitudes e-sports is doomed in the US.. kids are getting lazier, cheaper, and feel like they should get everything for free it's pathetic.. it's like they have no concept about how a business venture actually works or that you actually need money to produce content like NASL..

I will do the same thing I did for GSL i.e. watch the first season for free on the free stream and if the production quality/ level of games/ casting is worth it, I will buy the stream mid-way through the first season or in the second season.
|
When will the matches be played? i they are played 21-22 in the us the time in Europe will be terrible
|
I'll think of buying one when the NASL has proven itself to me with quality matches and quality production because as it is both are up in the air right now.

There are a lot of misconceptions regarding free stream vs paid stream. Those who choose not to pay for a ticket aren't watching for free. We are paying by increasing viewership numbers which attracts sponsors, and by watching ads. Since we don't pay in addition to this, we get a lesser service, which is perfectly fine.
I'm not going to buy it because I don't feel like I need to. I get a perfectly fine stream, and even a rebroadcast for my time zone. It's not leeching - I am being offered this! If my time didn't earn them a dollar, they wouldn't be keeping this option.
I'd never buy a ticket beforehand for something like this, because its completely untested, we don't even know the format of the show and the only taste of what's to come was a disaster. If someone wants to buy a ticket now under the pretense of supporting esports, that's fine, but to have the guts to call people out on not buying one is ridiculous.

I think $25 for 3 months is a steal. Going to buy for sure.

i will definetly buy it once they get the option to pay with paypal

July is in NASL :o

Like most things, i think its important to wait for a sample of the NASL before making a purchase decision. They have a very brief history and have shown on multiple occasions a lack of experience and critical thinking ability with regards to who should be invited, trying to dodge the blame/putting it on the players and a sub-par stream of Clash of The Titans.
I can justify things like MLG (10$ for the weekend) which has superior production capabilities and a track record of being well run. This is NASL's first run and based on what they've shown so far, i would expect it to be rough - especially when they are asking for money. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

I want to see how its played out for a little. I might buy a pass. I would really like the replays.
|
I didn't get GSL season 1, but I've purchased every GSL since incl the GSTL. I think waiting for the results of the first season is most wise.
That said, I will be watching it live when possible, and I am excited for it.

They've got sponsors to pay for the league, or are the "sponsors" really just "investors". I understand paying for Korean content in english, I do not understand paying for english content, in english. Isn't it free to watch SCBW and SC2 in Korea?
Exactly, the reason why we pay for GSL is because GSL is not sponsered by english companies, so we get a fee, they get it all for free lol.
Why should I have to pay for this when it is in english and will have english sponsers -.-

Money is not a problem for me, the time is. Watching GSL games usually takes 2-3h per day, sometimes even 4-5h when team league is showing. Adding more games to watch is really not an option, sadly.

I swear, this year could be THE year for e-sports, and the community is going to ruin it. I hate every single person that comes in here and whines about every single thing imaginable in a league that people worked their asses off to get up and running.
Support NASL. Support E-Sports. Support SC2.

They're just being reasonable with their money, you don't shell out 10 $ here and 10 $ there just "because", you also have to take into account most of the community are probably teens or college students who aren't exactly known for having a lot of disposable income.

Wow I think im beyond pissed off right now. I know they need to make money and thats fine with everything but I hated Gom for it but NASL doing the exact same thing. I don't even know if I'll watch the NASL now.

Relax, I suspect that there are alot of people who didn't pay for GSL season 1 (or two for that matter) because they have had no idea what to expect, with the production quality of the showmatch a little scepticism is allowed. Since the low HQ stream is during the NA time and it will be restreamed to the EU on different times people can judge by their own opinion by that time if its worth to buy a ticket for season 2.
Also this if you are not with us you are against us, you don't want E-sports to grow etc attitude of the people here is funny, and rather pathetic.

Didn't they say they'll be giving replays? 25$ for what is essentially Code B or Code C... I might still buy it, provided there's a lot of content. Unless IdrA gets elimd in the first round ;]
|
I didn't buy a gsl pass until after I watched a few games live for free. I expect the same thing of the nasl.
I would recommend to most people to wait at least 1 day after the season starts. Better to spend $5 more once you think you will enjoy the content than regret spending $20 for something you won't watch.
