Obviously this is not meant as a replacement or improvement on the original video, which is basically flawless and immaculately edited. Instead it's just sort of a neat experiment. Hopefully the original creators are cool with it, if not I'll take it down.
This was well done, thank you for this. Should be spotlighted on its own.
btw, found this quote interesting in the texas qualifier thread (the one where tasteless beat nony to qualify for usa finals)
thanks, obviously it's pretty easy when the original material is so good I might post it in a blog or it's own low key thread at some point just so it doesn't get lost forever in this giant thread. hopefully that wouldn't be too redundant
I just keep watching it... it's so cool. This is what esports is about. Seeing Artosis' dedication even after losing was so amazing. Everyone who is interested in SC2 has to watch day9's 100th daily and then watch this video... what a great story.
Nice view into the past, strikes me in just those small clips from the game just how much unit comps and overall refinement changed in BW. These guys were certainly at the top of the game, but that level is nothing like the way it has been since the latest greats have hit the scene.
Gives me hope for the evolution of the other games, considering 2005 was still 7 years after the BW launch.
man that was a great video. I remember following that WCG, was it really that long ago. So happy with how far all these dudes have come after this video.

He had practiced especially for Estrella and so we played that 4 times, Azalea 2 times, Gaia and PA only once. Anyway I didn't focus on training for PvP as much considering the lack of Protoss players in the US, I figured my PvP was good enough. However going 5-3 against someone still lets them slip through the cracks of the WCG organization.
Anyway I apologize for my frankness (I know everyone at the qualifier is reading this) but I'm just saying what is on everyone's mind. A competition is still a competition and Tasteless took advantage of what was presented to him, so still I say congratulations to him. You can be sure that if anyone in the USA wants practice against a Protoss player I'll give them as many games as they want... except for Day of course, but somehow I don't imagine he'll have a problem beating Tasteless when the time comes. hahaha blast from the past!
I love how I vow to help everyone in America practice against Protoss so that I can make sure Nick loses first round at the finals... and then he plays against Sean first round haha
And now we're all bestest buds!
NOW we know the real reason why you didn't want to go to the liquid ogs house in korea, you were afraid of tasteless!!!! haha
I just watched.. Day9 Daily #100.... watching how emotional everyones journey was to SC1 and a gaming life really, really makes me respect everyone so much more. Makes me think I've missed my chances lol, but amazing.
I'm curious though, looks like the Plott brothers journey'd together (judging from D9D#100)... Artosis what's your story? and on top of that.. How'd the relationship with the Plot brothers develop and bloom in the THE CASTING ARCHON.
it's cool to see how at the highest stage back there Artosis just didnt GG, and nobody was like OMG HE RAGEUIT OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Now is a capital sin to leave any game without GGing

Ok here we go, for the billionth time, back then bw replays did NOT save chat, so you could not see the ggs or anything else they typed.

So.. is there an even better argument that extended series is awful =p
If there was extended series, Tasteless might not have travelled to wcg usa and thus he wont pick up commentating. The casting archon would not exist. And day9 would not have this enriching emotional experience to share with all of us. The 3 pillars of starcraft won't exist today in all their magnificence.
