Also, their manners and open attitudes are such great examples for the community... and for people in general. I feel so much affection for this bunch.

WCG Footage Intercut with Day 9 Daily #100: There are also a few clips from the official WCG videos added for spice Obviously this is not meant as a replacement or improvement on the original video, which is basically flawless and immaculately edited. Instead it's just sort of a neat experiment. Hopefully the original creators are cool with it, if not I'll take it down. This was well done, thank you for this. Should be spotlighted on its own. btw, found this quote interesting in the texas qualifier thread (the one where tasteless beat nony to qualify for usa finals) + Show Spoiler + On July 25 2005 06:14 NonY wrote: I would've won if the finals were BO7 with him having a one game advantage or BO5 with him having a one game advantage. However this 2 BO5 thing is about the only weird format where he wins because he won 3 games out of the last 5. Also it was setup so loser picks map (even carried on between the 2 BO5 series, so he got to pick the first map of the 2nd series) and you can pick same map over and over. He had practiced especially for Estrella and so we played that 4 times, Azalea 2 times, Gaia and PA only once. Anyway I didn't focus on training for PvP as much considering the lack of Protoss players in the US, I figured my PvP was good enough. However going 5-3 against someone still lets them slip through the cracks of the WCG organization. Anyway I apologize for my frankness (I know everyone at the qualifier is reading this) but I'm just saying what is on everyone's mind. A competition is still a competition and Tasteless took advantage of what was presented to him, so still I say congratulations to him. You can be sure that if anyone in the USA wants practice against a Protoss player I'll give them as many games as they want... except for Day of course, but somehow I don't imagine he'll have a problem beating Tasteless when the time comes. GL <3 Nony supporting extended series even 5 years later xD Artosis just tweeted about this: "Took me forever to unpause the WCG video and finish watching my last defeat from 05... amazing footage. Brings tears to my eyes." So emotional ![]()

I think everyone recognized him back then as the better player but Nick practiced the shit outta Estrella. He's right that the system is flawed in that you can pick the same map, but so is the problem with WCG i suppose. Tyler probably preferred two BO3's or just one BO5 haha, and its funny to see Jinro talking about how its a stupid system as well, for the player going through winners bracket to have one set advantage, and Idra defending it, even though thats the standard for double elimination tournaments in EVERY game, I'm surprised that the rule caught Jinro off guard.

Oh no I wasn't insinuating that at all, he's not being BM. I just think it's funny that he was talking about supporting an "extended series" style system with carry-over games instead of separate series, and that he (still) does currently in the massive debate over it in MLG, etc. Keepin it real.

GL <3 hahaha blast from the past! I love how I vow to help everyone in America practice against Protoss so that I can make sure Nick loses first round at the finals... and then he plays against Sean first round haha And now we're all bestest buds!

I think his gomtv job takes too much time. It is just waste of talent to have people like Artosis and Tasteless in casting jobs, while they could be competing. Also Day9 should be playing the game, instead of casting and doing dailies. I would like to see them all play a bit more too but you have to realize that there comes a point in everybody's life where you can't just spend all of your time playing video games. With the way eSports is currently, there are very few professional gamers who actually make enough to support themselves. Casting is a way for them to make a living while pursuing what they really love, and there is nothing cooler than that. Also, Sean is in his last semester of graduate school and getting his master's degree in a few months. He's said before that he first got into casting and all that when he didn't have the time to dedicate to playing competitively due to school. I'm sure that still holds true today, especially these last few months. Maybe when he graduates he will play more, I think that would be really awesome, but on the other hand he is an awesome caster and the most prolific contributor to the SC2 community in ways other than playing. It would be a shame to give up that. As a side note, for the sake of the future of eSports, knowledgeable players are NEEDED to cast. Just like any other sport (actually more-so for eSports) you need people who know what they are talking about to commentate on games otherwise it completely draws from the view experience.

It seems to me people were a lot more straightforward back in 2005, before the ipod/iphone generation and were able to actually speak their mind without fear of getting banned or labeled a troll by swarms of people with a different opinion.
