Hey guys!
I was looking around on sc2ranks.com and apparently I'm rank 2000th in "my region" (I assume that's North America), and ranked 5000th globally. I was surprised by this. I'm a 2900 masters with 400 bonus pool and I feel like I'm not THAT good.
Here's my profile: http://www.sc2ranks.com/us/1360277/Maverick
My question is, how many players are there in a "region" and in the whole world? I don't know how reliable sc2ranks.com is. Is there any way we can find the total amount of active players and players in each region? I've spent the last hour googling it and searching the blizzard forums. I'm just really curious.
:D
EDIT: removed background info. apparently it is considered as "bragging." ...

everyone one has been playing for less than a year because the game hasn't been out for that long you seriously didn't click more details to find out that you're in the 60th percentile of world and region?
EDIT: and i don't know why you've made two threads about this

What does it mean by percentile?
If 60% = 2000 players therefore 100% = 3333 players?
EDIT: I'm deleting the other one

You are bad at detecting trolls. I'm really curious

I'm honestly not trying to brag. I just don't want to make it seem like I'm using this forum like google

Whenever I log onto battlenet, the home page always says 100,000 players online and like 10,000 games being played. Guess thats totally off haha

Remember that there's also a difference between copies bought and 1on1 profiles ranked. I got loads of friends who are ranked in team games, but who haven't played their 5 1on1-games because they don't like to play it.
According to Blizzard, 20% of all active users in SC2 was found in Diamond league before they added Masters.

awu25 seems pretty upset about something. Not only is he not giving you the answer you're looking for, he appears to not have read the question at all. Here is a close approximation.
You're in the 67th percentile for masters in the NA server (67.46 to be precise), and ranked 2154.
2154/0.34566 = 6619, or the total number of NA masters players.
Masters league is made up of the top 2% of Active players from reach region. Assuming no one ranked up to masters and then became inactive (see recent ladder analysis thread), that should be about 1/50th the total active players in NA.
6619 x 50 = about 330k active NA players
While you didn't ask, this puts you at about the top 0.65% of Active NA players. The same (very basic) math can be done to find global players. It's important to note that your rating based on ladder points, which is what sc2 ranks uses, has little to do with your MMR, which is how Blizzard ranks players.

Oh, my source is sc2 ranks, unless what I'm looking at isn't total players at all and I'm a total nub
