Does anyone else miss the ability to make yourself your own color and enemies red/allies yellow, while still being able to tell when in vision which plyaer is what color...?
I hate how SC2 forces you to be GREEN vs RED...
For example, say I choose purple in a custom game, but my opponent picks like green or something, which is damn hard to tell apart from your own green on minimap...
I'm forced to make myself GREEN so I can see RED... I want to be Purple and see Red
anyone else agree?
edit: this was already available as a third option in SC:BW.. you would hit the button and it would 1) make everyone their normal color 2) make everyone their normal color to in game sight and red/yellow on minimap for enemy/ally 3) make all allies teal, and all enemies red to in game sight and minimap
I just miss the 2nd option. Seems like another way SC2 downgraded..

can't you change that with alt+shift+F or something like that?

Im just pissed some official tournaments force blue vs red colors. Im actually serious, id like to see some colors in official games =p.

I don't think it's hard at all so i have to disagree with you there.

I agree that it's not neccesarily hard, but Red is definitely the most aggressive color and easiest to pick up on.. thus the bull running in spain..

bulls are actually colorblind; it's the waving motion that attracts their attention
nvm misread -_-

Yes, but it forces you to be Green, all allies Yellow, and all enemies Red... then you can't even tell the difference besides what race they are..
"Hey go attack RED!!.. i mean... The red zerg... I mean the red zerg with the fast expo..." "OK GO!"
if you understand what I mean...

really? that is kinda silly imo.
it's like you wan't a new camaro... it comes in 8 colors, but you are forced to have a certain color without a choice haha

They really should fix the multiplayer aspect. You should be able to make your opponents different shades of red at least. It is so confusing when you see like 8 bases of the same color on your minimap and you don't know what units to expect at each area unless you actually look at the bases to see what race they are.
In 1v1s the only color that matters is green. If your opponent chooses green it makes it very hard to pick up on things on the minimap. You could just make yourself green and them red with alt f but not everybody wants to have their units be green. Maybe tournament organizers should just not allow green.

I totally agree with you. When I'm in a clan war match or some league match I'll go Blue they pick Green. The problem with green is on the mini-map both his Green and your minimap color look similar. I can't STAND IT! You're totally right though, sometimes I try that alt+F or whatever it is and it just makes you Green and him Red, and I hate being Green.
This + that "your voicechat is disable" popular are the 2 most annoying bnet features IMO at the moment.

I actually had an idea for the colour scheme in team games that I thought would work well. One team would be "fire" colours, and the other would be "ice" colours. So, one team would be red, yellow, orange, and pink. The other team would be blue, green, purple, and teal. It's easy to tell opponents from allies that way because the fire and ice colours can be told apart very quickly, and you can still differentiate different opponents if you actually have to communicate something specific to your allies. Right now the colours you get in ladder team games have no logical system, it just assigns the first eight colours to players and so the minimap looks like the finger painting of a 4 year old at times.

that'd be interesting for the color scheme...

i've had to re-read this thread multiple times... but i got what you mean now and i totally agree with this:

i would like for ladder matches to have choices on what color you are in the game have like 3 different colors you would like to be just so the colors are not the same (obviously!) in 1v1s as well as team games...
just throwing my idea out there

Yeah this option was availble in War3 as well, which I sorely miss.
Anybody that doesnt get what OP is saying is the option to change minimap colors while retaining unit colors that you are given with.
I miss this option for the reason in team games or ums like dota where you want to know immediately whos the enemy but you need to distinguish the enemy apart. It's important to know if that huge red group is composed of 2 players are just coming from one. It's important intel.
|
So when I see the colors in my minimap, I have 2 options. Everyone is their team color, or I'm blue; allies are light blue; and enemies are orange.
This doesn't seem to match up with what others are saying.
Orange isn't as visible as red. Am I missing something?
