Anyone can sign up to the site and create a fantasy team for the next GSL tournament. We also allow you to create a group so you can play with your friends. The site's goals are to create a fun and interactive way to follow the GSL with your friends and the starcraft community as a whole.
Come check out the new design! Improvements based on your feedback have been implemented and more are on the way.

Past Fantasy Season Rules and Results Fantasy GSL May + Show Spoiler +Salary Cap System: + Show Spoiler +-each fantasy team has 1500 minerals to spend on players -players in Code S and Code A are purchased out of the same 1500 minerals Player Values + Show Spoiler +Players are ranked based on the past 2 GSL seasons and how many points they scored in our fantasy system. The most recent season, GSL March, is more heavily weighted than GSL January. These ranks are then transformed into mineral values. Code A player values reflect the ability to score less points than Code S players.
Example: IMMvP is worth 100 minerals as a Code A player. If he had remained in Code S he would be worth 225 minerals this season. See scoring system below for more details.
Scoring System: + Show Spoiler + Code S -Map win = +6 points -Map loss = -1 point

Code S undefeated score: 105 points
Code A -Map win = +3 points -Map loss = -1 point

Currently there are no prizes, but we would definitely like to head in that direction in the future.

Shouldn't you give some sort of individual price tag to players based on performance instead of just summing him up as "Top 8 Code S"? For example, MVP should be more "expensive" to get than Choya, for obvious reasons.
The way it is, it's pretty easy to pick the "right" players on top level and ultimately it becomes all about who does better with Code A and low Code S picks (which is pretty much a guessing game considering how volatile Code A is).
Just a suggestion for the future I guess, I know it involves additional coding. =p Great initiative anyway, I signed up.

Thanks for the suggestion,
We are thinking of doing this sort of system for GSL 6.

Nice, I'm hoping to match my NFL-fantasy success with this.
I also made a Team Liquid-group since I couldn't find one.

Thanks for the all the interest in our site guys!! Tell your friends and let's have some fun!!

I created the "Battle Royal" group. It would be great if we could get a group of TLers. You can join it through this link. Also, You can join more than one group, too. So check out the others.

While I understand I have to disagree. Just like in any fantasy league before the season starts there are players that you expect to be far and away better than their counterparts and (besides not being able to sub replacements which may be an idea to modify in future seasons) you sort of are hoping your big dog MVP doesn't come up against a squirtle that ends up beating him.
Additionally i think the current system makes it a bit more accessible to casuals. For example my girlfriend watches a bit of starcraft but hasnt gotten to the point of remembering names off hand. Having it broken down for her of who was a top 8 finisher vs a mid 8 and bottom 16 really helped her in recalling which players she liked vs who she just happened to see more of.
My only "complaint" about the current system would be that I would like to modify my team so that while I could have 4/4/4 code S I could do 2/5/5 if I think the top 8 from last season didnt deserve it and I think some of the lower people would be better additions. So a max of 4 in top 8, but I could exchange them with anyone in a lower group as long as I have the same number of total players.
On a completely side note something I would like to see from an aesthetic perspective is as the season goes on, on the group page, if players that have been knocked out have some annotation to mark them as such. I'd like it to be easy to bring up my group and see that "choyas cheaters" may be 7 points ahead of me but I have 2 extra code S players still alive and he has 3 more code A players left. Basically something to easily see how many players a team has remaining without having to either look at brackets or go into each team to see how many players are still alive.

While I agree, I think there was a point for my team where I had 3 people from a single group selected. For example everyone mostly agrees that group A is a killer and group F (i think was the group) is pretty bad. In this case it might be a good idea to pick 3 people from A and 0-1 from F as whoever makes it out of A (which could be hard to tell) will make it further in the bracket overall.
FOR EXAMPLE (this is hypothetical) Same thing could happen in code A if I am certain that either Squirtle or Ace will win it based on their GSTL performance. If I am 100% sure that one of them will win code A and they happen to have to play eachother first round, its a STRATEGY to put them both on my team, sacrifice the early points for what I think a better chance is at points later.
So while I agree just logically it seems dumb to put 3 people from the same group on your team, there is a strategy to it to earn more points overall if I don't think anyone else is good enough. Just randomly picking someone from another group that I have no confidence is just as bad.
So while I agree, there are strategies and situations which one would want two people on the team even if they are going to eliminate eachother early.

Yes, but the way to handle that is simple. Don't pick Choya, pick MC, etc. It's fairly easy to make picks in the code S leagues the way it's currently set up. I imagine once they get a more accurate rank system, picks will actually be harder.

OK everyone else is right apparently I just remembered completely incorrectly. We will score every match whether aired or not.

Yes they were, I went back and looked and apparently was just completely wrong. I thought I remembered there being controversy among the community about not all the tiebreaks being shown but they did. Shame on me.

I think you should be able to recustomize your team after every round.. like how they do in fantasy football
especially after theres a money limit on the team

As far as I am aware from what I've read and what you have posted, your point system allows for players in Code S group stages to get more points due to factors outside their control.
I'm sure people may disagree with my opinion, (or I may be wrong), but I personally don't like the way this works out.
E.g:-
If in the group stage you have players A,B,C and D. Somone selects player A for their team.
Situation 1. Player A beats C Player B beats D Player A beats D Player B loses to C Player B beats C
Player A gets 12 points for two game wins.
SItuation 2 Player A beats C Player B beats D Player A beats D Player B beats C Player A plays and beats B for positioning
Player A gets 16 points for three game wins.
This is third game only arrives due to the results of OTHER players. I view this as being a bit random and unfair. If it stays like this, you have to not only predict who you think will come out of each group but try and find groups with 2 clear winners to try and get this situation and maximize points...
Thoughts?

It is not possible to get three wins in group play, since in round 2 winner plays losers. If a player wins both his first and second game, he's already on the top of his bracket and will not play a third game, regardless of what happen to rest of the group.

I don't think the space makes a big deal, so feel free to write is however you'd like.
If it were defined to one way I'd say "FantasyGSL" as in 'FantasyStarcraft.net's FantasyGSL' just because the website as a whole has a GSL and a NASL part to it.
Just a thought. Again, go whichever way you feel.

No, that's not true at all.
2 players can go 2 - 0 in their first 2 matches, if this happens, the 2 players that to 2-0 play each other, the winner getting first in the group, then the 2 losers play each other, with the winner getting third in the group.

Just checked, looks like you're right! My mistakes. Will need to fix some of the numbers on my guide.

O wow stoked :D. This looks like fun .

Woot! 3 players that I picked won their GSL Code A matches today. I can see that each individual player has earned points for these wins, but my team currently aren't showing any points. When I look at my group just see NASL points (which I didn't make a team for).
I honestly think the website needs to separate the leagues a little better. It's kinda confusing to see NASL and GSL thrown together all in one page when looking at the groups. I also am having a hard time finding my friend in my group. He says he is in GSL late night but I can't see him.
I think there should be search function in the website where I can search for a team or account by name, and be able to see their stats, etc.
Oh and the most annoying thing was that I had to calculate the points on my own when creating my GSL team. It should be ridiculously simple to show the amount of points I spent and how much I have left when creating a team, so I don't have continuously save to look at my current spent points.
You guys are probably all aware of these issues and intend to fix them, but I figured I would put in my 2 cents.

It has been several days and it looks like the system is not updating the team scores or the leaderboards, even though the player list is being updated properly. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon!

Also Help Support FantasyStarcraft.net I am MinusCelsius a cofounder of FantasyStarcraft.net. We run the site in our spare time and would love to make it better for the community. We need help to do this though as we lack the expertise and budget to do so. We would like to make a new fantasy system that would include the features below as well as the current site features. New Fantasy System: When creating a team: * on the fly salary total * drag and drop players from a list to your team * Dynamic roster throughout a fantasy tournament. * Have a roster for every round of the tournament. * Have the ability to change your team from round to round. * Have a count down reminding users when the current roster will lock. * This dynamic roster will function like a stock market for players with dynamic values: Player values: * Purchase price changes depending on the following formula: * (% total teams that own player X)*(total minerals across all players) = (minerals assigned to player X) * eg total teams = 100, 25% of teams own Day[9], total minerals = 1000, therefore Day[9]'s value is (.25)*1000 = 250 minerals Leagues: * Public and private * show teams ranked by points with player break downs * Leauge vs league (highest avg points / team) at least 3 members to qualify * Joinable at any time We are asking for your support and if we get enough funds we will go ahead with the project. However if we do not get enough money to pay for the new system we will put the money we do collect towards operational costs. Upon these funds running out the site will be shut down. We will make an announcement if we receive enough donations. We would need about $2000 to get a developer to make the system we want. If you want to support this idea head on over to www.FantasyStarcraft.net.
TLDR; If you like FantasyStarcraft.net please donate. If we do not receive enough donations to pay for our plan below the site will be shut down and donations will be refunded. Donations will close on February 5, 2011.
