Hello there! We (the CatsPajamas and Doa) are going to be bringing you a weekly YouTube series for that weeks top ten failed attempts at micro in Starcraft 2, called The Litterbox. This is going to be supported by the community, as we want YOUR submissions to the show.
Email replays to LitterboxSC2@gmail.com Include in your email your name on BNet, and at what time the micro fail happens. This is important! We don't want to receive 50,000 submissions that are 45 minutes long where people don't tell us when the micro fail happens.
As episodes are posted, the OP will be updated with links.

I still cannot understand why did he fail so hard so many times. His baneling placement was completely faulty in the first place, didnt he know that he needed to have two banelings side by side to kill marines?
Keep in mind that these don't need to be pro level replays! Some of the most entertaining moments happen in the lower leagues! We can't wait to show you guys this stuff. It's pretty great...
Think i have a game of some zerg trying out some "pro" mutalisk stacking while harrassing. All the while knowing i had atleast 3 thors. Was pretty fun to watch 15-20 mutas just dissapear
cats what the heck have you done!? a week ago I had never heard of you and this week I feel like everywhere I turn you are there doing something whether it be a thread or a cast. gj on getting your name out there. Look forward to your future.
Ok guys, episode 1 is up! Now, I know of a couple of problems. One, this was a little hectic as we didn't know what we were doing at first (or, rather, I'm a poor editor), but all should be smoother in the future. Secondly, I know the volume is too loud. We calibrated the sound, and then didn't realize that skype was automatically increasing his volume as the call went on. So I know Doa is too loud, but we'll figure it out next week!

Only complaint, = need to clean up a bit of mic static
Yeah, we're looking to improve the quality as we go along. I have the ability to record the audio locally, and we may just need to have us both create an MP3 and then match them up post processing. We were a little rushed for time this time around, but we'll definitely try in the future!
omg the nuke was really brutal.. i hope this will never ever happen to me =)
but i often times kill my own tanks or supplydepots when i try to stutterstep away from lings or lots casue i do it with a-move and not with hold position
That nuke was so horribad it was awesome. As previously mentioned, it's very reassuring that not only someone worse than me exists, but it's also nice when people competing make mistakes ;p
i hate movement command fail happened to me 3 times where i should have won easy peasy heh. wonder if i have a replay still of my baneling fail *looks through replays*. But this zergling killing the drones was epic, not as epic as the nuke though. Really nice show.
Really funny, can't believe I haven't seen this kind of vid before. Good job, 1 small thing, you started the vid with "for our next ....." which confused me a little
i think the only good ones were baneling into hatchery and nuke on army the rest of them were easy mistakes that any lower level players could make eg: flying mutas into thor, not watching army when destroying rocks
Amazing, i thought for sure my scv pull rep would be the best, but the nuke and hatchery attack were hilarious. Gonna have to search my replays for next episode
On February 15 2011 04:40 Blacklizard wrote: Sounds like fun. Might I recommend you try to get 90% pro failures though... it's not quite as funny when it's a replay of a 5 year old or something.
Agreed. It's not funny to watch a newbie not notice a ling killing his drones or not notice his mutas flying into a thor. General poor micro by a low level player isn't that good either (like the marauder/thor vs zeal/goon). I'd suggest keep it mostly high level, with the occasional low level misclick (banelings on own hatch was ok).

+1 Fail micros from noob players aren't fun. I liked the bane missclick the most
To be fair they opened up submissions only a few days before producing, give them some time for more higher level players to actually submit replays. The thread was relatively short and kind of went unnoticed until they actually put out the first episode, hopefully people liked it and next time they will have more submissions.
BTW: Fail from new players and pros are equally funny IMO. Not really sure how experience level makes mistakes more or less funny. Its a mistake, just laugh. You can't see the person behind the keyboard anyhow, all you can do are draw conclusions based on numbers from SC2ranks. The actions of the players are what the show is about. not necessarily the players themselves.
I'd suggest keeping with your original idea. It's incredibly solid.
Thanks for the feedback everyone! Next week's video will be much higher quality. And bear in mind, we take everyone suggestions into consideration. They're not ignored. Don't forget to get your fails in to LitterboxSC2@gmail.com sometime soon!
I'm glad so many people are digging this! The criticism is definately appreciated too as our main objective is to entertain you guys! Keep sending those replays and expect bigger and better things in the coming weeks! (Like better audio levels )
We have a few submissions for next week (and some pretty high level players submitted some, to boot), but we'll need to record this week's edition early due to the MWC we're casting this weekend. So make sure you get your submissions in by Wednesday night to LitterboxSC2@gmail.com

I disagree.
EDIT: Also, kencorp and hunger are both really good. I actually watched at least one of those games live on Catz's Stream.

I do indeed! I actually haven't played all that much in a while, just done a ton of casting, but I hope your playing has been going well!
Sorry to disappoint, but Litterbox is going to be delayed this week due to a reason which I'll discuss later to hold a promise to someone involved in the project.
Ok, now I can say, hopefully the delay on the Litterbox makes sense as DoA is currently in Korea casting the GSL. Couldn't say anything before GOM officially released it.
In episode 2 the replay concerning the cannon rush: While it was sped up so it is hard for the viewers to tell if they were cancelled, but teh units lost tab calculates cancelled buildings as the full cost.
this was some good shit. if you can get ahold of pro micro fails (ie moons banelings) that would be a good addition, but the low level play is very amusing
such a great idea for a show. the first 2 epi's were okay.. but i think with more users submitting replays, doa and catspj's will have a much better group to choose from. this week's was hilarious!

We'll certainly take a look at it, if you would like!

We'll add pro fails as we see them, but we mostly rely on user submissions. Keep them coming!

Also, they make me feel much, much better about how badly I play sometimes.
Haha. Sometimes it's nice to be reminded that everyone, regardless of skill level, can screw up...
Amazing idea, love it. My favorite one so far was the PvZ on LT where the zerg keeps pulling his drones to kill the probe but fails and then just leaves. Lol, great, gj guys keep it up!

HAHA. Glad you enjoyed it. Send in submissions or suggestions if you would like!
Love it!!! I wish a terran would forget to repair their thors when they play me... Would be a blessing. Can't wait for the next episode, the intro music is amazing btw. And who is that singing? I've heard him do a couple songs but I have no idea who he is.

Ha, I think the Protoss player had never, ever seen contaminate before, and thought the Zerg player was taking over his building. It's the only explanation I can come up with... o.O
Thanks guys, as always, the quality of the show depends on the submissions we get. Send them in to LitterboxSC2@gmail.com if you would like to be on the show!
I'm torn between my desire to play 4v4 to find more of these micro fails so I can get on the show more, and my desire to play 1v1 before the season ends.
Hey guys, this week was a down week for submissions, so we need a few more to kick an episode out. Here's what we need from a submission:
1.) Email to LitterboxSC2@gmail.com that contains: - Your Battle.net ID - Description of the replay - In game time that the fail happens
2.) A replay that really has a fail! - We get a lot of replays that don't really work for the show. They're funny, but don't work in the format we run. - So, unfortunately, if you nuke your opponent and take out his whole army, that's a good nuke, not a fail.
Unfortunately, if the email doesn't have the time in of the fail in the replay, we can't take it as it takes a LONG time to crawl through submissions looking for a fail in them. We have a few recorded for this week from the submissions we got, but we need more!
Hey all, this is NervFourOTwo here...and I feel like I need to explain things.
I was playing rather lazy, not really using much of my brain, and had a thought well before the game started along the lines of "hey, I never ever cannon rush, why don't I?" so I did, not thinking 100% along the way. I saw a pretty picture a little while ago with a cannon at the place I made it, and my very stoned self though it was just a cool place for a cannon.
after I realized "you know what? This really doesn't work." I proceeded to get a mothership off 1 base and steamroll that stupid zerg.
I was a little shamed by my representation in that video, and feel like the whole game should be played in it's epic glory.
(the zerg does a full on all in (cheese) soon after the video cuts out, which fails miserably. I'm just saying there was way more to that game than just that first clip

Hey man, nothing personal at all. We just take funny moments and make a YouTube video out of them. We're not here to point at people and single them out to make them feel bad. Feel free to send in silly moments you've seen as well!
I'm saying there were many many more silly moments in that game, you give much more time to other games which are just static time wasters, and yet don't show a wonderful fail all-in response to a fail cannon rush only to run into a 1 base mothership.
I just think the game deserves more credit is all xD
I take very little personally, this is the internet after all.

To let you know, basically we get a replay that meets our guidelines, and we go to that specific spot in the replay and cover the fail. So, this guy sent us the replay, said at "X" minute there was a fail, we went to that spot, saw if the fail was worthy, and casted it. We didn't even LOOK at the rest of the replay. Again man, no offense to you. This wasn't directed at you. But calling the rest static time wasters because you happened to be in the show? Come on, man.

I never said "the rest" just that there are some games that given a great deal of time (a good bit over 2 minutes at a x2 speed or so) whereas my game that I actually won got about 30 seconds if that, and you didn't even watch the funny parts.
Mostly it was just seeing that reallllly long drawn out PvP fail cannon rush which was honestly just stupid run for that long.....i dunno just seems silly to give time to games that aren't funny, while you give way less time to games that are amazing.

You almost make it sound like their goal is to showcase legitimate play. I've watched two episodes so far, as well as the cannon draw situation, and it was all quite entertaining, I think you're looking too much at the games, and not the final product (which is really quite neat). Also what does it matter whether or not you won?
Filming soon. My past two weeks have been out of the world busy, and suitable submissions have been trickling in. We'll have enough content to put up another episode very soon though!

Man I could be on this show for some of the stupid micro mistakes I make >_<. Love these hah, it reminds me of LAGTV's 'When Cheese Fails' but a different aspect of SC2 players' noobness :D.
For the record I actually won that game, because after I lost everything and GG'd, Assassin must have thought I'd already left, then he left, and I won
I can't believe that seige tank part, how can you not notice that! Love the show, hoping the "weekly" part becauses true sometime, been waiting for this episode a while ^^
