IMBALANCED! - Introduction - Page 69

If you have criticism, you need to address the content, not the hosts. Idra and Artosis are 2 (1.5) Zerg players, but you can't point that out and then blanket them as biased. Respond to the content. You can't tell them to "get 2 Terran and Protoss players". That's fucking obtuse advice. "Yo just get 4 more high level players to record with you." Yes, I think everyone sees the value in getting it, but it's not practical. Respond to the content and use evidence / logic to back up your claims.

Will you also make episodes where you discuss balance from Terran point of view? Totally agree about the terran mech tho. Been going full out mech in my TvP mach-ups and so far it has been utterly destroying my protoss opponents (around 3K diamond). Only games i've lost with this are where I get my army caught totally out of position. Will have to see if some protoss thinks of a good way to beat a 2-base push with a large amount of tanks, hellions with marine/viking support. Yet to see it happen. Immortals seem to be doing remarkably bad against that composition.

We already know Idra feels that Fungral Growth is too powerful in ZvP and a show about that would help remove this claims of bias. Also many people feel Terran are now underpowered in this current patch, especially trying to go bio against Infestors. Would be interesting to see if there are any shows about that.

I'm pretty sure I heard the SOTG crew IdrA, Day9, Tyler, JP, InControl talk about how hard Protoss can be to deal with especially "Cruncher style". I think if they thought fungal was OP this wouldn't of been a big discussion point.

All he said was that its was good. As a zerg player you would understand how its hard to include this unit in your composition verses a protoss.

Good job artosis. Sweeping a huge pile of dirt under the rug, only to make it stick out like a sore thumb. The reaper wasn't nerfed slightly. It got Terran 3 nerfs: 1. 45 second reaper build time 2. Depot before Barracks 3. Nitro packs moved to factory.

It's somewhat balanced at the moment, because our gateway units (zealots and stalkers) are simply so weak relative to Marauders and Roaches. I would like to see a shift in Protoss power away from forcefield and colossus. Charge upgrade would be a good start. Make it 50/50 or something. 200/200 and a citadel is just so much, and its just to turn our zealots from completely useless to almost useless. Have you ever tried to face a terran or zerg using only gateway units? It's virtually impossible. Protoss needs colossus at the moment, if they nerf colossus they have to buff gateway units to compensate.

If colossus was to be nerfed, which is actually very unlikely I feel that is would be better for the Immortal to be buffed, I perfsonally would like to see an increase in immortal range.

Gateway units are weak and colossus makes up for that. Now let me ask a narrow question. Do you ever run up against a mass bio play that does not rely on upgrading marines and marauders to their fullest potential? + Show Spoiler + There are always medivacs to support stim binges. Conc shells are upgraded right away. Combat shields are pretty damn popular too. Now lets throw in all the upgrades and production structures. I think its important to put more value in a Terran player committing heavily to playing with bio and when you go for super efficient AOE T2/3 counters, T building the counters to those as well. I agree with how you feel about gateway units. I actually do. But gateway is the bread for all Protoss armies while MMM or just Marauder play is more of a commitment to produce Marauders and units to support them. I actually disagree with the videos point that Protoss are too dependent. In my mind I compare it to saying Terran is too dependent on medivacs or Zerg is too dependent on infestors. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm certainly (Nor will I ever be) as good as the 2 and a half Zergs point of view. (Idra counts as 2 =Þ )

Gateway units are only weak in certain situations, but they can be strong if used correctly. If you doubt this ask Adelscott ... Maps and the playstyle of the opponent play a huge part in making Gateway units strong (and even after removing the amulet the High Templar is a strong unit). Colossi are a very volatile unit in that they have a very high concentration of firepower per attacking space (there is zero distance between Colossi, thus the number of Colossi who can fire on one spot is maximized). This makes the Colossus a rather difficult unit to balance because it can reach a critical number which insta-kills the opponents units. Insta-kill is a problem for balance and gameplay, because it takes away the comparison of skill between player A and player B. If Siege Tanks did 200 splash damage they would not be as problematic for fights between armies(*1), because the splash kills your own units and dropping one unit on the Siege Tank would get him killed from his buddies, but the Colossus doesnt have the disadvantages of the Siege Tank (immobility and friendly fire splash). I hope this example shows why Colossi can be problematic, but there havent been many whines about them recently, so the players seem to have figured out how to beat them anyways. (*1) They would be IMBA for attacking buildings however ...
