Starcraft 2 patches everytime I open the game

Benthum United States39 Posts December 19 2010 23:29 GMT #1 Like the title says, every time I open the game, it would start patching 2.1.2.2105. I click play, and the updater disappears. I open the application again, and it updates to 0% and the game starts when I click play.... usually this is followed by crash of blizzard updater. I can't find anything like this on google. Thinking about reinstalling, posting here as last resort

I got the feeling it might have to do with the PTR and since they are updated and some of us aren't, it probably means that we have to update each time to play the game. That is just what i think what is going on.

colanderman United States66 Posts December 20 2010 02:59 GMT #5 This happened to me. I discovered it was because I run a DNS proxy, which had outdated records for battle.net. Clearing my DNS proxy's cache fixed the issue. If you don't run a proxy it could be your ISP's fault. Downloading the patch would be a temporary fix but things like downloading new maps will be broken, and eventually you won't be able to log in. I feel this should be a FAQ somewhere, just because it's so darned hard to diagnose (took me 3 reinstalls before I narrowed it down to the proxy server).

Benthum United States39 Posts December 22 2010 22:12 GMT #7 I think I've found an easy fix for this problem. When the game first updates and the updater disappears, just wait a few minutes. Eventually it will reappear and finish updating.
