If anyone perscieves it in a negative way there's a reason that the 'block communication' function exists, but i can tell you that in my experience the majority of the time when i send 'gg' post game my response is in kind. if people can't accept that someone is attempting to be polite and gracious after a victory then there is something seriously deranged about humanity. i'm not going to stop gging every single game regardless of whether it's in-game or post game; as i said the majority of people i play respond 'gg' and all is well, i wont allow the minority to dictate how i express myself withen the game.
Clarity, gg IS the compliment.

And I'm telling you most people don't perceive it as such. If you agree that there are people out there who get offended, why do it when your intent is to be courteous?
"Something deranged about humanity". News flash, people aren't 100% logical. When you know they're mad leave them alone, it's the courteous thing to do.

Well said. Don't gg after someone exits a game. often people will be offended. I personally find it not offensive, but it does add frustration/irritation.
Edit: If you really want to be "polite and gracious after a victory" just let them go. If you can gg in the game before they leave, great, if not, just let it go.

I cannon rushed his third and he left the game:
Afelay: wastiny my time in a practice game to ofrace for fun Afelay has reconnected. Afelay: thx You: its normal to cannon rush fast third .... you need better scouting with ovies ―――――――――――――――― Afelay: no its not dude you cannon rush at the exact same raoch timing so your an idiot doubt your masters You: lol if i take fast third nexus, its the same, you would not let it unpunished it the game. Afelay: =) i already had my roach warren up dude =) and you cannon rush a zerg that has a roach warren up waste 900 minerals to kil a 300 mineral hatch ? You: its worth it, because of the mining time i steal from you
(i also used less then 900 minirals..but i guess making up numbers justifies his reasoning)

Even if you are for some reason convinced that pinging someone a "gg" post-game is the polite thing to do, that conversation doesn't belong in this thread:
you: gg him: lol, no, that was horrific on my part. you: ok him: Never had fucking scans and my medivac control was terrible. You honestly are not good at all and that was an easy win. You: You knew I was using DTs and you still called down MULEs, I just assumed you were going Raven.
Parsed:
you: <considered by most to be slightly BM> him: <I played bad.> you: <slightly BM> him: <I played bad. You are bad but beat me easily.> you: <Criticism of his play: kinda BM>
At best, you were being a little bit of a prick. He didn't have to call you bad, but by your own admission you won the game by investing 1750/1750 in an attack that could have been destroyed by a scan, a couple turrets or a Raven.
No part of this conversation is awesome, the only part of it that's confusing was your decision to share it and further to describe the game in such a condescending manner.

*facepalm*
Post-game GG when your opponent has just quit out without a word is actually probably one of the most extreme forms of BM. The implication behind what you're doing is that you're chasing down and hassling your opponent for not gging you because you think you deserve their gg when all they want is to be left alone. It's sheer arrogance to assume that everyone should react the way you think they should appreciate you "coming after them" when they probably just want to get onto the next game and forget all about the loss.

If the opponent types GG and leaves before you can write GG too, and it was a nice game, I always post-game-GG. It's no BM in that case. If he ragequits, only then a post game GG is BM. IMO.

Granted, but determinedly going after EVERY person you play against to GG them regardless if they even want to talk to you is definitely BM.

Well you just happen to play the few players that are SOOOO manner ..... or just made that up ...
If a player doesn't call GG when he looses, it means he doesn't consider that the game was good.
He might be raging on: - Imba race / Imba unit / Imba whatever - questioning your decision-making ("noob you put 6 spines in front of B2 and take 4 gaz in ZvZ and just go for mass roach ... when any one would read mutas here ...") - only being a bad looser (just rages when he looses, with no particular reason)
He might also be unhappy with his own play, therefore not considering the game to be good because he made stupid mistakes that "gave" (not "earned" note the distinction) you the victory.
Anyway whatever the reason is for not GGing at the end of the game it's pretty obvious that if someone doesn't, he's not gonna appreciate being /w after the game for that. So yes, some people will just GG you back to make you STFU and not have to talk to you any more ... don't consider that to be nice though, it's not like people were thinking "OHHHH great I forgot to GG, fortunately that cool dude reminded me"... IMO, someone who GG's after the game only does it for their ego, because they expect their opponent to give them the recognition they think they deserve .... which is to me the worst kind of BM, and is even pitiful ... it's like asking to be congratulated ... if people don't do it themselves don't ask ... or are you just that needy when playing ladder games?
I know if someone GG's me after the game I just don't answer .... if I didn't call GG at the end of the game it's very likely that I'm mad at myself for playing poorly and therefore, don't consider my opponent to have done anything particularly good in that game.

How did you manage to have that wallpaper on bnet ?

The best BM i had was: i hope you get cancer and die on the way to the hospital, when your about to get your cancer cured.I loved this one

It's been a while since I've had something to post, but today I had not 1, but 2 instances that left me going "wtf?"
So, confused I asked him how a reaper expand was cheese. Keep in mind, no bunker no scvs, nothing just 2 reapers and a CC.
Not only could he not have known this was a second account, kinda random to use that as BM though lol, but "QI" just made me lose it. I think he was trying to say that meching is cheese
OK second instance, I was in a 2v2 and our opponents went 2x proxy gates as they both spawned as Protoss. We wall off I defensive cannon and the game is literally won. When I scout, the opponent's probe follows me and sees the outside of my teammates cannon because he decided; lets cannon rush. The game was literally won but he rage quit out of principle and this is what he messaged me while I was still in the game:
Oh, and he never told me in game not to go there, he only said so afterwards right before he quit lol...
edit: picture resolution was a tad funky, changed embed code

the guy was complaining all game about protoss having "good unit" and me "just click a", but i thought his last comment before he left was kinda funny

This. Even if YOU personally mean it to be polite, it isn't and you shouldn't be doing it.

From my experience, if I didn't gg then I was probably disappointed in my own gameplay so someone gg in chat afterwards would get no answer. Same goes if they prematurely gg then I wouldn't gg them and just leave the game. i.e. Everyone saying that it's not polite or that it's seen as 'chasing' after your opponent to get congratulated are right.

every one of my pvts in masters goes something like this....
they always try to start some balance argument about TvP at the beginning that i Ignore, then (if I win)they get outplayed and blame it on balance and proceed to swear / rage at me. this exact same scenario has happened a few times today
