I guess it worked with the gas, but 26 Probes seems low, no mention of transitioning any over. WP1 was just 1 Stalker 1 Zealot. WP2 was 2 Nexi 10 Zealot 8 Stalker 4 Sentry 2 Colossus.
Yeah, it doesn't actually 'transfer' workers to a new expansion, it just recalculates the income rates by assuming the workers instantly appeared there. Obviously not ideal, but I'm not sure if I want to set up a 'transfer probe to expansion' command as it'd add some complexity and likely lead to scenarios where it never does it (ie, the minerals lost during transfer take time to make up from being at the expansion).

Hmm, yeah, I need to improve the warpgate stuff - planning to do that soon. Basically it will always convert gateways to warpgates as soon as it gets the research for warpgate completed.

If you mean between stops and starts, then yes, I can do probably do that at some point (just seed the new execution with the results of the previous one), not sure if it'll be soon though. Shouldn't be too hard I think though. However if you mean within the one execution then it already does that.

Quick feature request, as it will save time with my experiments, feature for it to send probes back to minerals from gas should the max amount of gas needed for the build executed be reached. A +1 Attack zealot push into expand does vs zerg has enough gas needed by the 4 minute mark and in the next 2 minutes mines another 200 gas which is not needed.

It has the ability to take workers off gas to put on minerals, just that it never does it because it always values gas more. This will be 'fixed' when you can set your own priorities for resources.

The final target was 3 warpgates, so should it not get the fastest 3 warpgates possible given the constraint of the first waypoint?
It built the final gateway as soon as it had 150 minerals, it chrono boosts the conversion to a warpgate to get the time as fast as possible, yet it waited a second to start the conversion in the first place for no reason?
It would be like saying I want a dark templar and at the very end it decides to wait a second to make it.

No, I think we're misunderstanding eachother, well, more accurately that I was right in my first suggestion that you want it to remember builds between stopping and starting. What I meant by that last comment was that it already runs off the best build order tweaking it slightly to try and improve it (which I'm assuming now that you already know).

In 5:28:41, you'll have 2 stalkers, a sentry, and an immortal, all the while still producing probes (20). I haven't exactly tested to see if this combination of units is good enough to stop a 7 roach rush, but it was just a little thing I did with the program. The sentry is out by 3:59, to make sure that forcefield is ready for if the push comes before that immortal is done.
How many immortals and stalkers does it take to stop 7 roaches?

The build took 25s longer to get those extra 8 probes. Quite a significant delay if you ask me.
Anyway, says what it does on the box For those interested, the way it works is to consider nexus downtime (when it's not building something) as a negative value for the fitness, hence it tries to keep the nexus always building. One side effect is that it prioritises building without chrono over building with and then having no production for a short time. In a way that sort of makes sense (why waste a chrono if you're not going to take advantage of it?), but then, as always, there are some circumstances where that might be preferable. At the moment I figure if you choose that option over specifying a number of probes, it's because this is what you want.

So you can get it almost 6s faster, with the same number of probes, if you don't ask for the Nexus to be constantly in use. Anyone got a better way to describe to the algorithm what you actually want with 'constant probe production'?

Hey CarbonTwelve, I've been loving this program and it's amazing how well you are maintaining it. Here are some possible bugs I've noticed: 1. While many people have commented on the program getting 4 geysers for no reason and putting 7 probes on gas, etc, I've been noticing the program takes several hundred million games to even consider getting gas, despite the builds I am requesting having gas intensive units. 2. On one build request, I requested 2 Nexi for my 4th waypoint, and the program seemingly never built another Nexus despite having over 1.5K minerals. 3. Perhaps I misunderstand "fitness" as your program's measure of the strength of a build, or how well it achieves the requests, but I have been seeing the build actually go down in fitness at times, this may be linked the the 2 Nexi waypoint never being satisfied, however.
Finally, a little suggestion. Is there a way to make the program settle on a build every 100 million games or so and look at how to insert chronoboosts to improve upon that build? What I mean is making it stop "breeding" and force it to simply spend energy every so often as a way to keep Nexus energy under 100? Probably not but just a thought? Keep up the great work man.
My waypoints for my build were as follows: WP1: 2pylons, 2gateways, 20 probes, 1 zealot (240s) WP2: 3 Zealots WP3: 5 Zealots, 2 Stalkers WP4: 2 Nexi Target: 15 Zealots, 5 Stalkers, 2 Collosus
If time is not specified, I left is as the default. Also, this build has worked with a fitness over 20,000 when I have left waypoint 1 at 300 seconds.
***EDIT*** A neat little request, a simple race to 200 supply where the computer can make up build so long as it reaches 200 supply, and attempts to minimize that time. Would be fun and possibly shed light on some interesting ideas!!!
***2nd Edit*** After allowing the program to run for over an hour, It achieved my build order and beat the time I was able to do by over 30 seconds, although it used what I would imagine is slightly suboptimal because of my use of chronoboost, so your program definitely works, my bugs weren't bugs, just me jumping to conclusion because it was taking over 15 minutes.

Can you give some examples of builds never considering getting gas? Or even ones where it gets 4 geysers without doing anything with them? The only way I can see these sort of things happening is for builds where it struggles to get a satisfactory result, like Archon builds.

Yeah, that does happen. Basically the fitness value you see in the list box is just a rough representation of the actual fitness (which has 4 values to it). Generally this is similar, but sometimes the single value representation gives a higher number for a fitness that the algorithm considers worse, hence why you might see it go slightly down sometimes.

It effectively always does this. Also, you can't always just play around with chrono boosts without changing the order that other commands are done in at the same time. As such, it's best just to leave it to do its evolving as is.

Hmm, I could try and build a fitness function for this, but I'm not sure how accurate it would be, and I'm not sure how useful it is either. Possibly something for long term consideration.

Thanks Carbon, not sure if you read my edits, but it finally got over it's retard hump and figured out a build that was working with over 22.5k fitness, which is the highest I've seen, so yea. Lol. How I use the program, is I have an idea of what I want, 2 thermal lance colossi and some ground fodder to tank, and I run it for an hour, decide that I want more probes so I up the count and run for an hour, maybe now I look at the results and think it can squeeze in 2 stalkers, etc. So In my particular case, I keep updating my waypoints to be more and more stringent, probably making the program take longer to find a way to satisfy them.

Yeah, the more complicated the build order (more waypoints & more units/buildings/research) then the longer it will take to get to the 'correct' result. Unfortunately that's somewhat unavoidable, even regardless of what kind of AI technique you use to solve something. Good to hear there aren't bugs though, at least not in this instance
