I hope it won't just be the top 200. There's still a significant skill difference between upper and lower diamond players. If they take all those players and put them into the new league, and leave the lower diamond players with themselves,I think the league skill levels would be much more balanced.

I'm not so sure I like the idea of 'invitation only'. That would make it more like an 'elite club' than anything. What will likely happen is that Blizzard will promote only willing players that can be easily exploited for E-sports revenue. And by exploit, I mean it in the full sense of the word. I can see Blizzard saying, "Relax kid. Don't go to college. Keep working your pizza delivery job. Just keep playing Starcraft 2 really well so we can keep getting revenue off your games (revenue you won't see except for a pinch because young kids are financially stupid and can be manipulated)." I think this is a good idea for the top 100 or 200 but diamond should still be split into two different leagues. There is a gigantic range of skill in diamond, far more than the other leagues. Then again I don't care that much about my league as long as I'm getting matched up with good players. Of course grand master gives us all something to shoot for that might actually mean something unlike rank 1 diamond. I'd love to see strategy guides claiming to get you into gm league...

I just really hope they don't make it similar to what they had in place in war3. Search times are bad already at random hours considering how popular the game is, so Ladders looks downhill. Hopefully you'll still be able to match others despite being in the league, else this is a terrible and bad idea.

This is still good if they make grand masters only play other grand masters then the league will be worth while and if anything else it knocks all the ppl that show off there 300 diamond status to there friends down a notch

it would be extremely awesome if they had a private server which allowed cross realm play in the GM leagues, Top 200 from each region playing against each other?

Theres no way theres enough skilled players to fill a league at the level where most of the MLG/IEM players are playing at.

if a league was composed of the top 100/200 at any one time there would be like 25/50 players on.. and how many of them would be searching for a match?

make it top 500/1000 and your going to end up with a whole bunch of jobbers... keep in mind ~1800 points gets you into the top 500 in NA...
