How unique. I would like to mess with it, but in reality I don't think I'd ever look at my phone while in a game. Super cool though!

Looks great except for one feature: The price tag.

I know that you've put a lot of effort into this and I would probably use such an applicaiton, if it wasn't for the price tag.

There is no way of knowing if the app is worth anything before you shell out the cash. If you made a free app with the limitation that you could only store 5 or so build orders, then you could get people hooked on the free version, which is obviously not enough but does show the feel of the app.

EDIT: It's not that I don't want to pay for it, but there is no reason for a developer to provide a good piece of software when the customer pays up front and you have no follow up sales.

I understand. Apple is really the one preventing me - Apple will not approve "upsell" versions that provide limited features of another app. The payment thing is also theirs - Google has a better system that will give you a refund within 24 hours if you do not like it.

FYI, this app works with all races - terran, protoss, and zerg.

Also, I am running out of Promo codes. Sorry if you do not get one. I will have more after the next version is released. Thanks for all the nice comments though! I really appreciate it and will continue working to make this app better.

Great to see app designers coming to TL to get feedback for projects.

A free version that was quite limited might help increase the popularity of your app, since it will be one of the few free starcraft apps (there are only like 5/20+).

the supply count is very important when it comes to build orders. this will make it easier for veterans to give you new build orders and make them. No one really knows build orders according to seconds, just supply.

So if your app can track the supply and use supply instead of seconds to make the build order, it will be much easier for the rest of us. You can ask anyone who has played this game if this is true or not.

YES! I was just thinkin about this earlier today and like magic it appeaars. Sooo cool.]

I have been taking pictures of BOs on my Iphone any way, it is really convenient when learning a new BO. This will be so much better!

Edit: Actually, after looking at the screenshots I am having seconds thoughts.

What I currently have is I go to threads on Teamliquid with build orders in them, I put my Iphone up to the screen, wait for it to focus, and then take a picture of the BO I am trying to learn. This is really handy, when I get in to the game I can quickly press the picture I want and have instant access to the build order.

This build order is displayed by supply, which is really all I need.

For your program to be worth it I would need it to do the following.

Display possible races: You click one

Display Common Builds: You can lift these right off of Liquipedia or the forum. You click one

The whole build gets displayed BY SUPPLY (Honestly, displaying builds by time is next to useless) on one Iphone screen. I know this is possible because even long BOs generally fit on one iphone screen when I take a picture of them.

Added bonus: Let me manually add build orders of my own if I want to.


From what I can tell your program is actually functionally worse than what I have been doing on my own with my built in iphone camera. I don't want to have to mess with my Iphone during my build and I certainly don't want it displayed by time. I also don't want to manually enter every build I might want to use, the common ones should already be entered; I am paying you, after all.

Am I missing something?

Yes, I know how important supply is for build order. However, you cannot create them based on supply in my current app. It uses a timer to "replay" the game letting you know what to build. Ideally, supply would be used when creating the build order or when playing the game, then the strategy is entered in with a valid supply.

To turn off the sound you currently have to mute the media volume on your phone.

I am now considering what features to put in a "lite" version that would let people try it before they buy. It may be a few weeks before its out.

Also, I added a poll to the first post to get feedback in a numeric format. I plan on adding another later to ask what features are most wanted.

@SpicyCrab - You are missing a little. You can add and edit your own build orders. Also, the supply will be displayed in a later version automatically. After you play a strat, you can add it into the app based on the screen at the end of the game that list the times. This makes sure its a valid build order. The reason it is based on times is so the app can be run in real time alerting you what to do. This is because the app does not know your current build order while you are playing.

One possibility would be to add an option on the Play page to simply view a BO by its supply and ignore the times, but that removes any alerting the app would do. It would just be a different way of looking at it. I can calculate the supply based on the order the units/buildings are entered. I hope that makes sense.

Yeah downloading other users builds sounds like the killer feature...

I was having trouble with entering custom builds. Much better to have someone else do it

Seems useful for learning a new build. Meaning this would be a great training tool...

I'll keep playing with it, thanks for the code!

Here are two preview screenshots from my latest version... Note that supply is now printed in the bottom right when watching the strategy. You can also get a list of the build order by clicking on the view button as shown in the other screenshot. Also, the dash separates an optional "note" which is a text field so you can add instructions like "scout" or "chrono boost"

Only works on V4 but why.

I only have a 3G so I'm not going to V4 because apparently it makes your phone super-crap-slow.
