I'm strongly against companies purposely making their products worse because of piracy. Just to add on to this, it's not like NASL or GSL making their VODs impossible to download has stopped piracy in any way, it just kind of made it a little more of a hassle. You can't stop piracy, and there's no excuse to give your paying customers an inferior product just because some people are going to steal it. The people who bought the season pass weren't going to illegally download NASL if they'd made VODs downloadable; if anything, more people would have bought the pass. The people who want to pirate NASL are already doing it. Thats complete bs..... ofc they have stopped some piracy, you can't get everyone... but you can try. If they made stuff downloadable, how long until you think some enterprising soul puts it up on a torrent site or uploads it to a filesharing site and starts giving it away for free? (which some already do.... and guess what..... there would be way more) The fact that you have to work at it to be able to download them (and its not much work.... 1 program unless something has changed) means that LESS people will download them and therefore there is LESS chance for people to pirate. They will never stop piracy all together, but they have to do everything in their power to minimise it because after all... pirates cost us money to.... and I'm no stranger to torrenting..... but when it comes to esports, its not a multi billion dollar movie industry that doesn't get £16 for a DVD from me because £16 is way too much for a fucking movie when i can get it for free. Esports lost out when people pirate, that simple, and if watching a VOD via a browser is such a damn chore for you, go find the 1 program you need, and download them. Most people like Tyler want to be able to fiddle with the playback speed, if someone made a web player that could speed up and slow down etc.... problem solved on all fronts.....
What do you mean "stop some piracy?" Making it harder to download an vod doesn't mean the piracy gets any less. I've seen torrents for most days of the gsl so the people that want to download it via torrent can do so no matter what. Giving you customers a worse service in the name if doing "everything in their power" to stop piracy will in itself lose you paying customers.

Guests I'd like to see;
TLO - His technical and analytic way of talking about the game would be really refreshing.
Jinro - Who doesnt love Jinro? He got a good amount of stable opinions and he isnt afraid of talking.
Grubby - Could talk about how it feels to have switched over, how does the competetive scene compare to Wc3 in it's prime etc etc.
Catz - He is a zerg who isnt whining!
As long as I dont have to see Spanishiwa nor Destiny Im fine. I really get too much of that hype already.

I would have made a separate thread for this (since it concerns more than just SotG), but apparently I have to wait 3 days "due to spamming" (I know... lol n00b). I was listening to this recent State of the Game (late, I missed the live cast) and it seemed that the general attitude of Protoss players Tyler, Geoff, and the others was that the PTR patch 1.3.3 to Protoss Gateways was because lower-level players were still having troubles with 4-Gate strategies. As Tyler pointed out, the pros are learning to deal with 4-Gate builds and the strategy is no longer as big a bugaboo as it used to be, and therefore the patch must be directed towards lower-level players on the ladder. I feel this is wrong based on my experience with Dustin Browder. I can't speak for Blizzard, but I did attend GDC this year and I heard Dustin Browder's talk on turning Starcraft II into an e-sport. I was looking for some mention of the actual Q&A, which I could (sort of) find on this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=198452. I personally asked him during the recorded Q&A on how Blizzard handles balance changes considering the wide breadth of the player base: Browder said that balance changes would always be made with the progamers in mind more than any other SC2 demographic. It seems to me that messing with a build as ubiquitous in all levels of SC2 as 4-Gate, given what Browder said, is obviously done concerning progamers. The reason why it's being patched now that (in Tyler's opinion) 4-Gate is no longer a problem may be because of bad timing - as in, it was such an issue in recent history and the balance team is just now getting around to pushing it onto the PTR.. Or it may be because Blizzard still feels that (by Tyler's estimation) "50%" of the PvP openers are forms for 4-Gate is too much. And of course, they could be very wrong for doing it for those reasons. However, the idea that they're doing it out of concern for the lower-level players is very likely wrong.
This is certainly possible - I think the sotg crew was giving the benefit of the doubt to the developers and assuming that they did it with someone in mind (and if the progamers aren't happy about the changes, it must be soemone else). Even still, if a problem with PvP came up and suddenly there was a build that everyone on the forums was saying "PvP is just build x - nothing else can beat it" - you would hope that they would wait on any potential changes for quite a while before popping in their solution (at which point, you would see that pros ARE using other builds).
That - and there also is the fact that the only change needed to kill 4-gate in pvp is the pylon power radius change. I find it hard to imagine someone who plays diamond+ level protoss would imagine anything else is needed.

5.) Day9 and uhh...Tasteless I guess
6.) Artosis and Grandmasters league
If you could get idra and huk at the same time...

Where can I find the preshow for the latest episode?

What could be more boring then listening to them talk about that stuff all over again?
I don't want them to talk about it, I want to bring those guys on the show =P
For Grandmasters league invite Dayvie and start a discussion about Blizzard. Ahhh yeah, massive amount of awkward ftw.

LOL Gretorp totally missing out on the Bunker Salvage sarcasm.

I know I might rub some people the wrong way, but saying we should buy VOD streams of things like the GSL/NASL/MLG because it helps esports is noble and all... and I'm certain it helps. However as a business model: It's dumb.
I think the model we are being presented is somewhat broken to alot of potential viewers even when you don't factor in piracy, and I like that people are willing to voice out some of it. I don't buy games off steam or my netflix account because I want to support the guys who make the stuff, I pay money for the convenience and quality.
My personal problem is that I am very often in low or no bandwidth situations, and the irony is that if someone were pirating the files to be downloaded and loaded on something like a USB key is more convenient than paying the guy who streamed it first. I find it even more moronic when you need to slap on an extra player, if it won't preload properly, or is just overall inefficient.
I don't pretend to know what the right model for this will be, but I do know the guy who figures it out is going to be making a lot of money, and it won't be because more people magically decided to "support esport".

what is gretorp doing on a talk show? he just sits at his computer doing his own thing and you can barely even tell he's there.

The guest of a show with four returning hosts talked less than 20% of the time! Who allowed this to happen, someone needs to hang.

I thought Gretorp was fine. Near the beginning he clearly wasn't paying any attention, but other than he was good.

I wanna see an ensemble SotG, with: IdrA All of the TL players (except maybe haypro) Tastosis Any blizzard dude (preferably Browder) I just think like a 15 person SotG would be hilarious.

Dood. If Destiny came on the stream at the same time as Idra, you could probably hit 20k.

Yeah, the "pay us money to support esports" cult-like propaganda is getting old. Esports - SC2 anyway - is exploding these days. Paying one league for VODs is nothing stupid when another one has HD VODs up for free. Watch the free HD VODs, and boycott the ones they charge you for. That's how you support esports: Going where the quality production is.

Watch what you feel like watching, if someone (Like me) enjoys buying the pass for HD Vods from NASL that´s my way of supporting NASL which directly supports E-sports. If you dont enjoy NASL then dont buy the pass and go watch something else. No need to boycott anything, just simply dont buy it if it´s not to your liking and mostly Dont (I repeat, DONT) shit on something on the internet just because it´s not to just your taste.

Incontrol needs to announce a big announcement on the next SotG. That should get them more views.

God that was so painful to watch, at first i thought he was being sarcastic, but in time you could tell that even tho they all laughed at him, he had no idea that they were not being serious. Funny funny stuff.

I'd pay for a Day[9] vs Artosis showmatch (7 game series of course ) in a heartbeat. They should do something for charity XD. Actually now that I think about it, I think that would help e-sports.

I feel that Tyler is the most awesome guy on the cast. The rest (Incontrol/day9) are also contributing a lot but Tyler is the best when it comes to deep analysis.
Awesome show again btw. Too bad that day9 couldn't be there for the whole time. I think Anna was not over-addressed this time and overall the show was very good. JP has really evolved from just interrupting everyone and stating his own opinions on top of others into a really good host with non-awkward transitions from one topic to another and it works really well. Having Anna on the show was a bit better than just having her interrupt everything by calling was a slight imrovement as well and Geoff actually having a webcam was a huge improvement! Finally we can forget the dancing cat!
Really good job guys. This just keeps getting better and better!
