Jeff was right in the middle of talking about coL's new lineup and then BOOM cut to the end of the show. What? X-split crashed a couple of times during the broadcast.

It was a biased episode where some eploye had again the chance to fix MLGs issues as in LO3 (which was more objective). Maybe the crew was tired of talking about this issue... but why invite this guy then? For me it appears as nobody of the big names in american esports wants to say some critical words against his friends or at least busines partners if they get some critic from TL. This is sad to watch - so i shut the window and didnt watch the rest of this episode. I think you think independent = shit on MLG. That's not what it means. Believe it or not, they can be independent and still support MLG.

I just don't get how MLG comes to the decision they make. Do they pick random ideas from a hat? I get it they want to try the PPV model. I get it (lol), but how pointless is it to fly the players in, pay for their expenses, and NOT have a live audience? They compare it to an UFC event. Guess what? UFC has a LIVE AUDIENCE. From spectator point of view, seeing it live in person is totally different. Watching online will not have the same emotionally engaging experience and atmosphere as being there in person. Calling this an "arena" is quite ironic. Futhermore, they allow players to bring a person to the event, yet they claim there's no space for the media. WTF? If I were MLG, I would have live crowd, a small one like those in the MTV unplugged series, so more of an intimate environment. The layout can like the one from the Pringles MSL with the crowd around the competing players in the middle. They can also sell tickets at a higher price point than the stream-only ticket. Give gold members exclusive rights to purchase tickets pre-sale, before releasing tickets to the general public. This is of course without knowing how big the MLG office is, but i'm just throwing an idea out there. I want MLG to do well, but I feel like they are taking way too much risk with the arena thing.

But then why do it in the first place? I don't understand anything anymore. I'm in Bizarro-world now. They decide to do a live event and fly the players in. Nice of them. But what is the point of a live event without live audience? Not even media? Might as well do it online and charge 10$ instead. Did they even think about it? My brain asplode

Player conditions are never equal. Cross-server play is a joke. Remember TSL3? Remember how all the Koreans lost? It wasn't because the foreigners are that good. It was because of lag in cross server play. Whether people like to admit it or not, that is the truth. Also, time zones. Euro's and Koreans would be screwed on the times they play. not to mention, MLG will be pushing out other live content with the players in NYC.

LO3 did a much better job last week. One thing I would ask that neither show did, is that if your website is admittedly a piece of shit, what are you actively doing right now to change that?

My brain asplode well if they are at MLG headquarters, it makes sense no audience, and even no press, its not like they'll have the room for it.

Everything he said was vague, and he didn't give a single real number (which Incontrol rightfully trolled him on, not sure if he got the joke). Do us a favor JP and if you are not going to be able to pressure a guest for real answers because they are your employer (understandable) don't invite them on the show, otherwise you are just doing unpaid PR for a company that decided to stop supporting the show. LO3 did a much better job last week. One thing I would ask that neither show did, is that if your website is admittedly a piece of shit, what are you actively doing right now to change that? What real answers did you want? Why is the venue so small? Its MLG's main office and they don't have space. Why not a bigger venue? Its pretty much implied that they are trying to keep costs low. What is a win for them in numbers? Guess what, no business releases their numbers unless forced to(aka going public) and they would release those in a press release, not on state of the game. Adam did answer that they were well ahead of projections, which is short code for "we are on the way to a win". Why are they not fixing the website? They likely are, but that will take time and have said they cannot do it instantly and it is in flux. Why no pandora during the event? He pretty much cleared that up with, we want to control was comes in through our fire wall. Why can they force players to wear a MLG shirt? Because they don't want you on stream shirtless in a utila-kilt. Pressing people for answers is fine, but the guys on SotG know that Adam is limited in what he can say. Employees can get fired for release information to the public that they were not supposed to. Although I doubt that MLG would ever seek termination for a botched press release, it still looks bad. Pressing an employee for an answer you know they cannot provide is not a good way to do interviews and can make a business not want to send people on your show. Also, JP decided to pull SotG off of MLG to allow them to be more independant. I am sure it was also because MLG was not getting the return they wanted from SotG and JP did not want to change the format as well. He openly admits that the topic of MLG is an awkward one and he tries to avoid talking when it is discussed. That is the most anyone can ask of JP and expecting him to simply avoid MLG is a topic is unreasonable. It is a huge event and it needs to be talked about. Personally I am sort of over all of the MLG drama and asking them to justify every move they had made. I like the show more when it is about which nerd is going to smash who and why Artosis loves Mech so much.

I'm sure if they knew before doing it that it wouldn't work then they wouldn't have done it ![]()
