No SOTG next week, SUCH a bummer.
Know what you need to do to make up for it JP??? (kidding you dont haveta make up for anything youre a sic pro bro) BRING ON HUK!!!!! PLEASEEEE GET HUK BACK ON!!!!
White Ra tonight was fantastic, sometimes hard to hear but he made so many good points. And so did Tyler and Geoff. I'm gonna give the mvp to NONY tho cause he sounded so focused and ready to roll over pro's at MLG. Give em hell Tyler.
Like I said before BEST stateofthegame EVER. Dying to watch it again and catch all the important toss talk that fell thru the cracks whilst distracted. Any ETA on VOD's man?? If its at all possible to restream it even if its only audio I would much appreciate that. If not, sucks, but I'll be patiently awaiting the VOD. GG guys. Thankyou all.

anyone know when the vod will be up? only got to watch a bit of it.

What do you base that on?

and has much fewer variables and depth than SC.
omg. this might be the most ignorant statement ever. there are 500 page books on one variation of one opening.
|
well there are several maps and races in starcraft for one , probably billions of variables

If you REALLY wanted to you could write a 500 page book on 1 SC opening... I think.
Also post a link to said book you speak of, sounds quite exaggerated.

is the audio up? i missed the show while drinking
|
When did the show actually end? Might have a chance of figuring out whether or not to wait for vods/ mp3 before bed.

Every single move in every position in chess alters the game state in a very meaningful way that you can research and analyze for a very, very long time.
SC2 might look like it has more positional variables since it is based in a continuous space, but most positional variables aren't anywhere as meaningful to the actual play.

You could perhaps argue, the "board" that Starcraft is played on has many more squares than a chess board, and also at any given frame drawn by the game engine, there could be a new move by the players. If you count that as variables, in theory the game gets more complex than chess, though I guess this is not really true in reality because of physical limitations. Who knows how a perfect Starcraft match would look like, where a theoretical superman sees everything happening in slow motion and has time to fiddle with every unit and building individually at any given moment.

anyone know how long for the audio? just missed the show t_t

Makes me wonder why you'd post that here if you found chess more interesting to watch than starcraft? I rather see starcraft than a chess tournament. Chess is boring to watch imo.

There are soo many other books that are just as big or bigger hahah.
|
I could probably write a shit load on the possibilities after 15 hatch 16 pool too..-.-.
What Artosis is saying is that starcraft involves another factor, and that's REAL TIME. Chess can be simplified to a few moves, starcraft's moves are pretty much nearly infinite, so theoretically, it has the potential to be much, much deeper and more complex.
Try thinking how one would "solve" chess (similar to how people have solved checkers), then think about how one would "solve" starcraft.

No MP3?
|
nvm...
mp3 is delayed. No SOTG for me today @work.
|
Chess can be simplified to a few moves
k my brain hurts too much to comprehend this i'm outties.
