For myself I've always had a hard time picking between Random and choosing my specific race... When picking my race, my win ratio in gold leagues was about 75% during phase 1 and during phase 2 I decided to try random to learn the other races a bit more and found my record around the 60% number, also in gold.
So a 15% drop off in wins to be able to play multiple races decently but not expertly by any means seems like a pretty good deal for a not so hard core player such as myself... and by not "hardcore" I mean I'm happy being placed in the top quartile of say a gold or platinum league.
Another option I am debating is Random for my 2v2 games with my friends and then a specific race for 1v1, that way I get the best of both worlds as I do care about my 1v1 record more then 2v2.
What are your thoughts?
