Hi, i've sent email to blizzard about this confusion, but they havent answered it yet, only tell me to keep waiting in line. can anyone help ?

So i live in Vietnam, and i asked my friend to buy me a copy of SC2 in the US. My Bnet account when created, was accidently locked to korea's region. I cannot change the region, even though i've asked Blizzard for this.

After i add the SC2 beta game to my, account, it's locked to the region that my account is registered with, which in this case is Korea/Asia

Now about the final retail version, i have 2 question:

-Are the Asia and Korea's server the same?
-After i add the key from my friend in the US to my account, which region it will be locked to ? US or Asia or Korea ?
-I am currently downloading the Asia version of SC2 which include english, if the asia and korea's server are the same servers, will it work no matter if the key is locked to Korea's region and vice versa ?

Thanks in advance !!!!

Your account doesn't get locked to a region as such as far as SCII is concerned. It is created on one of the battle.net servers (in your case the korean server) but the key you add to the account determines where you can play. From what has been said you can have multiple keys attached to your account if you buy them. To answer your specific questions:

1. There is a SE Asian server and a Korean server (there is also a Taiwan server and a Chinese server) - they are all separate. If you go to the new pre-order page (or in fact any page on the beta battle.net) and click International down the bottom right you see the supported languages by region.
2. A key from a copy of SCII bought in the US will be locked to the US server. You will require a US client to be able to connect to the server and use this key. It has been confirmed that you can add a retail cd key to a downloaded pre-install copy of the game but the region of the key and the game must match.

I made this post to try explain the issue of keys and regions to readers on my forums - hopefully it makes it clearer for you.

sorry to bother you, there do exists a taiwan server but no Chinese (mainland) server up to now,and actually the taiwan server is sharing the same server with korean so in the Bnet, both korean and taiwanese can add each other as friend but can't play together.

For the starter's question. I think you can simply creat another account and reg in SEAisa server,in fact vietnamis in the SEAisan server, along with Hong Kong, Macau, Malayisa, Singapore, Australia, and some other SEAisa country and region.

1:Asian server is different from Korean server. There are actually 3 servers in Asia: Korean server, Taiwan server and SEAsian server

I always figured it put you in the region your address is listed as on your battle.net account.

You are not on the same servers so no. You can't do anything with people in other regions

Asia, Europe, North America and SEA (Australia)

Funny enough nothing for Japan, they don't even get a localized version

The US server should really be called "America" server. All of america, not just the US. I mean, Europe, Asia, those are continents. SEA, i have no idea. and US?

Digress much?

Just to stick to the topic, no crossrealm play so far
Huh?

so stupid that we can't hope servers anymore like in SC 1
A lock that opens to many keys is a bad lock. A key that opens many locks is a master key.

Crossrealm play will come, we just have absolutely positively no idea when; could be very soon after release, could be a year. Basically, you can't buy a SC2 for a particular region and just presume that the lock doesn't matter.

Aside, why does Blizzard not care about Japan? I appreciate RTS is not big here, and that SC/BW never made a splash - but isn't SC2 a great time to kick it off? And there are some Japanese who are quite "into" Korean pop-culture; I reckon if they promoted the Korean pro scene a bit here, it might actually take. Don't underestimate the enthusiasm/buying power of the otaku hordes, Blizzard!

It will be really hard for Japanese players to play, either play a Korean version in Korea server or play Chinese version in TW server. Time to apply for foreign language classes!

Is it possible to change a legit US key into an EU key? I preordered my game in the US for the beta key and as it seems now I'll only be able to play on the US servers.

No.

If you want to play in the EU region, you should either buy an EU version; or alternatively, play on the US servers and be patient until Blizzard releases their promised cross-region play solution (no ETA on that, bit of a gamble imo).

Anyone remember the link where they said they were going to have cross region support? I think I remember reading it on here but it was speculated that it might not be free to change regions. What are people like tlo, whitera, artosis, and idra doing? Buying the game in their respective countries then waiting for cross region support? Tournaments are going to be a nightmare until they support multiple regions.

for ppl like artosis and idra, it doesnt matter cause they can go to PC bar in Korea. also for their professional matches, the organizer like KeSPA or the team itself CJ Entus would have purchased legit copies of the game in Korea anyways.

personally i m still raging about how SC2 is so locked up that despite it is a great game, i found the product itself defective.

People who are professional or "serious amateurs" are buying copies from the different regions.

The rest of us will wait for x-realm support. Blizzard did definitely say it would come, though they didn't give any idea re timeframe (I imagine they are pretty busy right at the moment). As regards pricing, that's all speculation, largely based on how things have been handled with WoW. I myself on the basis of no facts whatsoever speculate that x-realm play will be a free update.

According to Amazon.co.jp the US version of the game was released there.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/Starcraft-II-Wings-Liberty-輸入版/dp/B000ZKA0J6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1280284775&sr=8-1

I'm not 100% sure on this though. I'll ask the guys at cyac.jp as they're are holding a tournament in August.

Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan are actually in the same region.
