Everyone seems to hate or not care about achievements. I personally think they are challenging and fun (aside from just massing multiplayer).
Anyways, I have been doing them for the last couple of days and this is just a short guide on how to get a lot of the easily.

I'll break them down into their categories. And then I'll try and streamline them so you can get more of them at once from different categories or sub categories. A lot of these can overlap and this daunting task can be reduced down dramatically.
(the number in front of each achievement is the amount of points you receive for the completion of the following sentence.)

Liberty Campaign:

As far as the sort of vague wording on some of these, let me explain a bit:
'Melee Game' means any game type. Vs computers, with allies, League match, anything.

'Allied'/'Friendly', this always implies more than 1 human player in the game (I think you may still be able to do it in a co-op vs AI game. Correct me if I'm wrong).

'League' means a ladder game, doesn't matter how many players (unless it says specifically 1v1, 2v2, etc). Even though FFA is unranked, it is counted as a league game.
So one way to complete a bunch of these is to remove a friend from your friend list and join an FFA at the same time. Kill the 2 poor helpless noobs and then complete as many as you can with your races.

'Unit' can also mean building, anything that can give a +1 kill score on a unit usually counts.

'HQ' or Headquarters, is shorthand general term referring to Command Center, Hatchery, Nexus.

For most of the achievements to be completed, they are required to be finished completely in a single game. (but not all achievements in the same game, although it is fastest to try and do all the terran achievements you can in a game for example).

Also, pay close attention to the wording. Some achievements need to be a single specific unit, some just need a type of unit.

PS- I am fully aware that all this will be reverted once the beta ends, but there is a saying that goes something like; "It's not the goal that matters, but the journey itself".
And besides, this guide won't end once the game comes out (although I might need to make some changes to it).

Ok, this part of the guide will be showing how to kill multiple birds with 1 stone over and over again. In almost any of the modes you can attempt to get the Combat achievements as well. An important note with the AI achievements is to always attempt the hardest ones first and ignore the lower ones completely. Many times you will end up completing tons of stuff at once and later on when you find you have a few combat/economy achievements to do you can just do them fairly quickly versus computers and finish them off while still working towards some AI achievements.

Let's start with FFA first.
Guide Three:
10-Kill 100 units in FFA Games.
Competitive:
10-Kill 5,000 units in FFA games.
10-Win 4 FFA games as each race option.
10-Win 5 FFA games.
20-Win 800 FFA games.

Ok, so the first 2 achievements can just be ignored. They will come as you play FFA games, but if you want to help ramp up the kill counters. Do lots of mineral raids on opponents where they have a bunch of units in 1 place. Rinse and Repeat. Also, you do not get kills counted on players who left the game. So it may be of interest to leave weak opponents around for later kill farming.

As far as the next couple you can achieve this faster if your first 4 wins are with one of each race, and you only need to get one more win with your best race after that.
While you are going for each of these wins it is a good idea to start the game with a plan to get a few other achievements other than to just get the win and kills. So even if you end up losing, you've still accomplished some things.
For example, Say I am Protoss for the first FFA attempt. I have the plan to open with one of this.
10-Warp in Twilight Council in 275 Game seconds in a Melee Game. (I believe this is done by going 8 pylon 8 gas 8gate, core asap, pylon, twilight asap)

then these
10-Use Blink to dodge death with a Stalker in a Melee Game. not hard at all
10-Kill 20 units with a single High Templar in a Melee Game. templar rush drop
10-Kill 40 units with a single unit in a League Game. keep that same templar alive.

and eventually these
10-Create 15 Hallucinations with a Sentry in a Melee Game. Get 5 Sentries, make probes.
10-Absorb 1,000 Damage with Sentry Hallucination in a League Game. Send those probes to doom. over and over.

Once macro and many bases are up I can go for these easily:
10-Using Warp Prisms, warp in 50 units in a Melee Game. easy since you have a phase prism already, just land it when you're not using it to drop and always warp in your stuff on it.
10-Warp in 9 Units Simultaneously as Protoss in a League Game. easy.
10-Warp in 100 units as Protoss in a League Game. Long FFA game? Easy.
10-Capture 50 units with a single Vortex with a Mothership in a Melee Game. A bit challenging but not throwing away a game to achieve.

And any of these other random achievements just happen on accident along the way

And Again, you can look at some of the economy or general combat achievements and see if you can work in at least 1 into each of the games.
With all the remains is to win an additional 60 games with each race to get the crusher achievements. And you can save these for later.

The first 5 can just be ignored as they are freebies that you receive along the way.
Win 15 2v2 Co-Op Insane in a row, 6 as every race combo by just bunker rush, proxy canon, speedling rush.
Win 15 3v3 Co-Op Insane in a row, 1 using every race on your team, and 11 as every race combination, and at least one of those against every race on their team.
Win 6 4v4 Co-Op Insane, 3 of which you must be all the same races, and the other 3 where the computers must be all the same races.
And that only leaves the additional 240 or so from each race for the crusher which you can save for later.

Does anyone know if you beat the AI on harder difficulties if you get the acheivments for the easer settings? I knows xbox live acheivements do this.

Also, playing as random gets counted for both random and the race it chooses for you.

yes, for some of them. Which is why I grouped all the AI ones under their difficulty. I am actually getting to this, this post is an almost complete work in progress. I'll be doing that in the reserved post above.

Wow a lot of achievements, I hope that when the game comes out they will make it harder than 1000 wins the highest make it 10,000 or some ridiculous number to hold us over to the second expansion.

lol, with all the different 1000 wins in each one, that will add up to quite a large number of games, not even counting the ones you lost so yea. 800 FFAs good luck.

Yeah, 1,000 is plenty. Assume you win 66% of your games (that's quite a lot) and no games take more than 10 minutes (good luck with that in 2v2) just winning 6,000 1v1/team games (using random for the first thousand) will still take like 1,500 hours.

If your games take more than 10 minutes, or if you don't win 66% of them, you could probably play StarCraft 8 hours a day grinding nothing but melee games and still not get all those achievements.

Not counting FFAs and Co-op vs AI and stuff.

I'd say there's plenty of achievements to tide you over until the expansion.

i really like the achievements, they can really add something to aim for as newbies and can help give newbies ideas on little strategies with stuff like expansion denial and using spells better.

Must this occur in a singel game? It's unlikely for me to even kill a singel unit with an Infested Terran, unless it's a worker, but then i still only get like 3-7 of them, and that is in a successful harrass! Doing up to 4 of those, really successful harrasses in a singel game, seems impossible. With that i assume people don't do the same mistake like 5-6 times in a game, which they might do in my level...
So, is all the achievents for one game at the time?

K so I broke 1000 points last night and I'm at like 1100 now, anyone care to do some CO-OP insane comps right now? 3v3s and 4v4s are searching forever.

btw, does anyone have more points than me ? [image loading]

wanna get some 15 win streaks in 3v3 and/or 2v2.

btw, does anyone know if the streaks hold if you switch game types after winning 9 in a row or something? Does it matter if you win/lose other game modes?

I have only 780, but I haven't been hunting for achievements much. I probably spent 3x more time playing 2v2s to get a portrait than to get achievements.

I've been trying to do the 1v4 (very hard) and not having any luck. First thing I tried was floating to the islands like in the 1v7 FFA, but when they're not fighting each other you end up facing dozens of stalkers and void rays which make short work of my battlecruisers.

I haven't figured out how to cannon rush 4 players at the same time, and I certainly can't win a 1v4 straight up.

omg it doesnt count if you make a custom game and pick races of comps and shit, have to click co op where it's random comps...

seems to be buggy with 3 players to start a co op game, only 2 will be waiting for the 3rd even though all trying.

And where the hell is the 4v AI co op ?

edit- omg the co-op 3v3 achievement didn't work.
under custom games insane the 3v3 mix didn't trigger, but it did check off the 3v3 Z P T team in the list of 10 race combos. >><

also defeated the 3v3 where AI must be all 3 races and got nothing.

co-op insane is easy as PP and ZZ vs w/e. The two of you need to do a cannon rush or speedling rush and you'll instantly win. I haven't tried with T yet.

Please update this for the Single player part. I dont like how the game gives you the requirement after you finished the mission.

I didn't know there are achievements... but I'm happy with that. I like that kind of 'must to do' thing in games, like in Team Fortress 2. Half of time I spend in getting them.

Anyone else having the problem where u don't see the portraits or achievements? When I look at achievements it just shows the loading icon forever... I never had this problem during beta.
