Boxer switching to sc2? I'm sure lmao[/sarcasm]. BW is Boxer's baby which he raised from the very beginning. He's not going to switch that easily. (if ever)
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Fyi. any progamer who wants to stay pro will have to consider switching and probably will have to do a complete switch in the next year if he wants to make any money whatsoever.
What does playing in a special event have to do with it anyway? Progamers have already played the game when Blizzard went there and had that one special event before the beta where they introduced the game to the progamers. There's video footage of it if you dig around.
NaDa has already stated in an interview that he doesn't consider BW fun at all anymore, this same probably goes for most of the progamers. Even IdrA has said that he feels like SC2 is better because its new. 12h a day makes any game feel dull after multiple years.

Some progamers may want to jump ship as an attempt at early adopting of the next big thing in competitive gaming. It's fairly certain that Blizzard is pushing for a strong e-sport scene revolved around starcraft 2. And if you can look past your biased view of sc1 progaming, you'd realize there have already been successful, paying tournaments/showmatches with legitimate sponsors in the first phase of BETA. That's just unheard of for the most part.
You are trying comparing a starved foreigner scene that was clearly going to adopt SC2 even before the beta to a vibrant BW scene that has large corporations contracting players to run in seasonal- and league-wide tournaments. You cannot make that connection. No one knows for certain how SC2 will do in Korean because of the Blizzard/KeSPA fiasco. KeSPA is not just SC but EVERY e-sport in Korea.
He's not a liar, you're being ignorant and overly defensive and aggressive.
Boxer clearly stated that, roughtly translated to English and (off the top of my memory so not 100% accurate but the main point is there), I am willing to switch over to any game that will be the mainstream game, and if that happens to be SC2, I am willing to play it.
This is from a video on scforall.com in which Artosis interviewed him iirc
No one is saying boxer will not switch to SC2 down the road. It is just highly unlikely (read: 99%) that you will see him at this "event" on the 24th. This false information was posted in an errant comment with no substantial information to back it up.

As long as the progaming teams exist and the leagues still run with sponsors, these progamers do not have to switch. Is Blizzard going to pay these people to switch over? Right now BW is still larger, especially for the progamers. And unless SC1 completely shuts down, you probably will not see the top level progamers for quite a long time.
Anybody know if they will be broadcasting this anywhere/stream? If so would it be possible to add it to the TL.net calendar...? I'm really curious and I'm sure the forum will catch what it is eventually, but this would be a cool idea, I think!
Just to add , there will be some blizzard ejecutives, and they for sure have the IP and legally rights to create a local Bnet server if they want to do so.
but isnt boxer playing SC2 already? sorry noob here but i DLed a replay pack before linked here in TL and one of the players playing random was named SlayersBoxer. PGR21 is the name of the folder. haha sorry i forgot the DL link and the name of the contest

I guess I didn't quite phrase what I intended to say very well. On a very, admittedly, unfair comparative scale, Starcraft 2 has a far more successful beta stage as a competitive game than Starcraft 1. And I'm sure there is that small chance Starcraft 2 flops in Korea, but year by year Starcraft 1 will become more and more dated and will eventually flicker out. Making this transition only makes sense to keep that scene alive. Yeh, maybe there are some problems with Kespa and Starcraft 2 righ tnow, but it's not the first time in the history of corporations that some other company picked up the slack.
I'd like to also make a point on the business end of things. If you were a very large company about to release a game you want and expected to have a large competitive scene attached to, what would you do? Paying some SC1 pros to play your game at an event pre-release doesn't seem like a terrible idea. Maybe it's encouraging the programers that there will be money in this as well.
dun know about Flash vs Jeadong, even though its epic, non of their games are as good as the Stork vs Jeadong series during the wcg.... Stork is the true hero of epicness

edit: Not looking for confirmation of the event itself is a rumor, but rather the event details.
We don't have that much informations about the event except that it is held by blizzard in association with Korean air and that there will be some big announcement.
That's all we know for sure, the ''ex sc1 pro players'' thing is a rumor, as we don't know what will happen during the event and what the surprise will be.
It can be just a stupid promotional event to celebrate the upcoming release like it can be some cool show match, sc2 pro league or tournament announcement, the return of phase 2, or what ever, just wait and see.
I hope it's the Boxer vs Nada show match that people said leaked from GomTV but since it's a rumor, nothing is sure.
The event will be live and broadcasted from 11:00 to 14:00 KST.
They call it Starcraft II Media day where they will disclose many informations about stacraft II and stuff and US + Korean blizzard staff will be present + the press. There is also some contest related to it also.
Here is a blue post related to the event + the official korean announcement with the banner:

understatement much? EXTREME understatement ?
Im sorry but even 3 hours a day after multiple years will make any game feel dull.
Is this anything to get hyped over? I mean will there be a stream etc, or just something to read about tomorrow? I was very interested when that chick from Korean Air told about how they've been talking with Blizzard. Maybe some more info on their future plans will come out through this event? Even patch notes for the next phase would be cool, or like has been said, a showmatch between SC1 pros. Any word?

I'm definitely not bored of BW and I average probably just about 3h a day in the last 4~ years.
Although I guess I'd be bored of any other game at this point.
