Just saw on gg.net that there will be a special event for SC2 in Korea. Nobody is sure of what it will be yet, but my own speculation is that some current SC1 progamers will showcase a match of SC2, and who knows, maybe an announcement by the teams that they will adopt SC2?

Some guy on gg.net said it will be Boxer v NaDa, as accidentally announced on GomTV. (This is just speculation so far)

if its sc1 progamers playing sc2, i doubt it's boxer vs nada, since neither of them have been big on sc2. maybe garimto? :D

the korean teams will have to adopt sc2 as their main game, its where all the cash is going to, and its a game that sponsors feel more comfortable advertising in because its a new game with new graphics and a lot of (soon) sales.

That said, A few show matches against old pros would be AWESOME to see ^^, or...

As much as I love playing Starcraft II, I must say I find Brood War to be more entertaining to watch and more macro intensive.

Both are macro games, but I feel Brood War is really about macro especially in PvT.

yeah only thing that makes it questionable is phase 2 beta may not be up, and there would be no way to host games (legally or legitimately, atleast) as phase 1 comes down on the 7th and there is no date yet for phase 2

Maybe Blizzard is allowing a special event like this to happen? I have no idea.

Huh. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a showing-off of the game in a similar way as in pre-Beta events like Blizzcon, probably including some showmatches and the like. I mean, it's not like Blizzard couldn't have people play each other in SC2 at events before there was a Beta.

But, yeah, it would be awesome to see some old school BW players.

The games in the 17173, Kaspersky Cup, 178 series and the Star2gether competitions were really entertaining. So far, only the very elite players have the understanding, gamesense, and pure skill to show really entertaining play. I find the play on the NA server to be comparatively dull so far.

These players are contracted to play SC1 not SC2, but correct me if I am wrong. Regardless, players like Flash and Jaedong are playing individual leagues and PL. It is highly unlikely they are playing SC2.

I'm sure they must have at least given it a try once or twice in spare time.

Pro gamer license allows you to play any game afaik, as long as you can succeed. This means that current SC1 progamers are already licensed to be SC2 progamers.

Actually a lot of players had to get rid of their license when they started SC2, one of these is Tester according to Artosis.

Besides that there's currently no official "licensing" to become a SC2 progamer as KeSPA doesn't have the same kind of power, the licenses after all were given out by kespa. Now GomTV/Blizzard might introduce a new system but I'm pretty sure we'll get rid of the old licenses in SC2.

I was more talking about the contracts the progamers sign with each team they play for. Although this may not be the case since Idra is signed with CJ but plays SC2.
