The new patch is incoming and, as we can know, they have solved the problem regarding the profile resetting randomly. As far as we know they will reset the ladder soon so I think that the two things (reset and patch) will happen at the same time
Just a quick update. We have identified an issue, that should be fixed with the next patch. We would like to ask for your patience and also ask you to please report in this thread, if you have any problems with reset ladders, reset profiles, wrong profiles displayed or if you have to retake your placement matches after the next patch has been released.

This seems to imply that having to redo your placement matches after the closest patch would be a bug, and should be reported. If the reset were coming with this patch, then obviously you'd have to redo your placement matches anyway...
no sir, in my opinion that sentence means that if this issue occours after the patch you have to report. eg: i play placement matches, i play 45 games and after bnet resets me --> report
Awesome. Can't wait to see what they change/fix in this patch; been looking forward to this one for a week or so. I'm predicting some massive gameplay changes.
It just makes sense to combine the reset with a patch and they actually did that with the last one as well.
Oh, I'm fully expecting the reset to come concurrently with their promised "massive April patch"...it might just be a patch or two (i.e. a week or two) away at this point.
Of course, it's fully possible that I'm wrong and this is the big patch with the reset...admittedly, the sentence could be read other ways.

But when I see "BIG ISSUE!!!" I imagine something the community has been struggling to see changed since the beginning, like high ground advantage. Not a bug fix. I don't see why you couldn't have put "account reset fix" in the title or something like that.
I don't know if this coincides with the other issues people are having, but today I was promoted to Gold, but I wasn't placed in a division. When I go to matchmaking, it shows my standing as -1 (and I know that it always shows that but you just have to give it a second to update...but this -1 is permanent) in the Gold Division. When I look at my ladder page, it shows a silver icon next to my 1v1 section, but I'm not on the ladder anywhere. Anyone experience something similar?

The thing I always found odd, was that it seemed the random profile resets were only happening on the Europe server. I havent heard of it happening to one person on the US server. Odd.
Either way, im excited for a new patch and reset. Right now its lame, knowing a reset is coming so I dont really feel like climbing.

I wouldnt count on it, but high ground advantage would definitely be nice.
I ran into this issue for the first time yesterday. I logged on and my 2v2 and 1v1 rankings were gone. A few of my 2v2 team rankings were still there though.
I did a few 1v1 placement matches and then it kicked me out. Logged back in and everything was back to normal. Good to know others have had this issue.

Broodlords should be energy units, giving them an actual counter like high templar feedback or ghosts emp, I think THIS would balance them out...
Thor should have an upgrade for concussive missiles too, to slow down the air units who try and harass...
HT need 1 of two things done to storm, givin back the old damage of (total) 80 instead of 40, or increase the radius again, though I'd prefer the 1st of 2 since Storms are barely viable against mass muta anymore....

Honestly I have to say I like this man's ideas - well minus the thor thing, they really dont need a slow, they rape as it is. And I'm a zerg player even I know my beloved broodlords need something done to them. Only thing I would like in here is something with the immortal

Well, since this basically became a create your own patch thread:
The Immortal Shield/EMP relation is badly designed, and I really hope they fix it. Immortals should be relatively efficient without shields, while not raping terran mech like it wasn't even there, when they got their shields. You can't micro to dodge EMP or anything like that and currently it can be described as an instant storm with a bigger AoE, that works only against toss.
Storm needs it's 2 AoE back, it can deal the same damage, but over a longer period(like 7 seconds, instead of 4), so microing units out of it is well rewarded and it will have a bit of area denial effect.
The Broodlord nerf they did was an appaling decision, the problem is not with the damage they deal, but with the broodlings - they should attack slower and with higer damage, so less broodlings are spawned. The broodlings themselves could also use a nerf.
I get reset every night at 10pm. I'm sick of working my way up to platinum over and over and then being reset.
This time I selected beginner and bombed all my placements. I'm starting at the lowest rank on the ladder and I'm going to win every game with ridiculous cheese until they reset me again or I make it to platinum. Look out coppers, here I come.

I think that's just the bug that Blizzard is about to patch, just a corruption of the profiles, not really the process of resetting.
I just got kicked off B.net and my account was reset; but it didn't tell me to make a new name and identifier. It might have just been the bug that everyone is talking about where your account is reset randomly.
Good thing for me, my 1v1 league placement was glitched before saying "undefined" league, so at least that issue is fixed.

so rework it alltogether and make z what it was. swarm of units with SCARY late tech. i played Z for 8 years as a mainrace and switched away from it cause i cant stand the retarded "mass 2 units, aclick" style. playing Z in sc2 is like playing old HU in wc3. mass range units(AM+rifle+caster),aclick and thats it. no further thought, no positioning(omg the arc!),no micro,no creativity just 2 different modeled range units attackwalking somewhere.
this is bad design and is jsut not worth the awesomness sc2 and zerg deserves

yeah I think most people will agree with you, Zerg is too boring gameplay wise and I think you have a few good ideas, while disagreeing with most changes about P and T. (although I have no idea what you mean by "+dmg to shield" For example I dont feel like hellions need much of a buff, they rape hydras enough as it is. Although it would be nice if they took just a tiny bit less time to shoot after you tell them to.

To the real issue, THANK GOD they resolved the stupid profile reset thing because this will hopefully mean that it'll also fix this megabug of me not being able to play 2v2 ladder with anyone. Cause that sucks, really really really hard. Cause how am I supposed to test beta if I cant play matches.
Who knows if the massive April patch is going to be done on time, we know patch 9 is coming but that doesn't mean it's the content patch - I bet that's #10 and 3 or 4 weeks away. Blizzard rarely do things 'on time'

That's not true. I got matched up yesterday with someone who had 16-2 stats with a rating of ~1400 (so a grand total of 18 games) and my current rating is sure to be top50 EU overall atm (bit over 2k). It's all due to the "Hidden rating" that people keep mentioning (I think the system even registered it as an "even teams" game).
It should take half an afternoon at most if you keep consistently winning, no biggie

Haha, my 2v2 partner's stats got reseted. For me it says we're 2v2 plat #17 and for him it says he's never played. When we're bout to play matches it keeps changing between saying "5 placement matches remaining" and Platinum #17.

If you're talking about your stats randomly resetting, it happened to me yesterday on the North American server. So I assume it affects both, although it seems to be much more prevalent on the European server for whatever reason.

I've been getting this too recently, it actually did it to me on my placement matches after I got reset and I had to play 7 placement matches because two of them didn't show up. It says 7 wins under my career wins, but it only counted 5 in the match history and in the little ticker that shows how many placement matches are left.

you want games to get registered so you can be playing people at your level...so you can improve your game
if you were winning against nonstop copper players and the games werent being registered and therefore you stayed in the copper league..whouldnt you be mad?

True - being placed in Platinum is quite easy, but fighting your way up there if you F* up your placement-matches, it takes quite some time, but once your in platin, you can pretty mch suck extremely hard and don't get demoted anyways. ^^'

I started playing srsly again with maybe 30+ games, easily winning like 25 of them, although until now, I've never been in Platin for longer than 1-2 days. Massgaming doesn't help either, cuz I have about 700-800 games and always 60+% wins, regardless of which division I am in... -.-°
Leagues and Division really tell nothing about skill - that's just the way it is and hopefully, they'll change that. But I don't think they will do sth about that in the beta. :S
But why not one DIvision for one Continent, then, ranks would actually mean something. I see what they tried to accomplih with the Division-System: They thought it's mroe rewarding to be #1 in your division than rank100 on your server, but I think quite the opposite is true, because being first in a division can sometimes be very hard and sometimes not, being rank100 on a server say much more about your skill IMHO.

I think people have much bigger worries than redoing placement matches though... such as actually working towards a good rank (I climbed from 90 Bronze to 20 Gold over the last 2 weeks).
True - being placed in Platinum is quite easy, but fighting your way up there if you F* up your placement-matches, it takes quite some time, but once your in platin, you can pretty mch suck extremely hard and don't get demoted anyways. ^^'

But we don't really know whether the next patch will be a bigger one and even being extremely optimistic, the big April-Patch probably won't make massing disappear.
For games to be more dynamic with more moving around on the map, Blizz has to address several things:
- Highground-advantage that rewards you for leaving your base to secure a good position on the Map. - Highground-advantage that makes it possible to tech and defend even though you didn't just mass up Units. - Change Units that do hilariously much DMG against static defense, like Marauder and Immortal, so that Fast-Exing and defending becomes more viable. - Change certain Units so that you can't just mass them and win (Marauders, Roaches). - Make harrassment/counterattacks a better option, because now, if you harrass (in the lategame particularly) and therefore split up your army, you can kill each enemy worker and still loose to a massive ball of Units that just run into your base. Early- and mid-game it's another story of course.

I've been getting this too recently, it actually did it to me on my placement matches after I got reset and I had to play 7 placement matches because two of them didn't show up. It says 7 wins under my career wins, but it only counted 5 in the match history and in the little ticker that shows how many placement matches are left.
ya ill had this too, it just random accepts games and then does not for others (most games not getting recorded)
If it's a "content patch" I hope that they'll add highground advantage and larger maps. I blame the lack of those two for the current ball vs ball style in almost all matches. Small maps don't encourage aggressive playstyles in the least imo because splitting your army results in immediate defeat.
I'm getting the missing gaming crap as well. Had to play 8 placement games with a mate in 2s just to make up 5, and half of my 1v1 games have just disappeared into the nether.
I actually wonder what kind of database Blizzard is using for bnet2.0. Most of this stuff imo shouldn't happen with a modern database. Doesn't seem like they are simply using one of the thoroughly tested and mostly bugfree database systems that are available free or commercially. I'm not THAT experienced on this, but it sure seems to be a bit too buggy.

zealots are pretty much still zealots... unless you're good enough to manually manage charge which means it's more micro. Stalkers are more micro than dragoons if blink is utilized. SCBW didn't even have sentry micro at all. Smart cast isn't that big of a deal when it comes to storms and you have feedback now. Immortals, another unit not present in SCBW, do such huge bonus damage to armored, you'll lose sooo much dps if you don't micro them. Phase prism has more to do than regular shuttle. Phoenices/gravitron is equal or more micro than corsair/web.

Funnily enough, the AI for repairing or going around obstacles is worse in SC2 than in SC1. What I mean by this is, if you order a unit to repair in SC1 and it's blocked, if you click repair a few times it will try to find a way around whatever unit is blocking it... whereas in SC2 the stupid SCV will just stand there until you manage guide it around the friendly scv in its way.
Same when you try to enter bunkers, quite frustrating.

yeah, I guess that's probably true about the smart casting, I'll rescind that... on second thought it is easier. I'm not sure about the lack of spreading micro since you still need to spread against emp, but decrease in PvT battle micro is more due to the degeneration of terran than changes in protoss. Mech with tanks being a uncompetitive unit instead of bio, the removal of spider mines, and essentially the removal of high ground just decreases map area control in PvT.

Yep, EU is crazy now, everytime I login I get different guy's profile, after while I got into mine, first it was completely reset, afterwards I got my friends back. And the best thing, got dropped in 1st placement match against complete noob, yay! Edit: Now cannot login at all, cannot connect to character (null).(null)

I haven't bothered playing since Battle.net seemed to completely break down in the last few days. I'll wait for the patch (presumably Monday, since they probably don't work Sunday) before trying to play again.
Battle.net is so far from being ready for release.
I don't think it is a good idea to be replaying your placement matches. Most likely you log in, it gets the wrong account, or no stats at all. But then you play matches, and it replaces whatever was there before and now your account is effectively been reset.
You should log out and in again until you get your normal stats, and only then should you start playing.
god i hope they release the patch on monday, decided to play some 2s last night.. had to do placement matchs again even tho i could still see the team in ladder divisions -.- and then we keep getting matched up with people from silver or bronze while we're platinum -_- and half of the games don't even register so our rating never goes up, neither does seem our MMR

That is truly great, i remember that like a couple years ago, we were smoking weed and the cops came to us and were like: ok what we got here hmm.... and then asked us if we have any more for them. And yeah we can walk while drinking bottle of vodka around the streets (some places in the capital city are forbidden)

- Click "Find Match" when you play ladder - Log out via the menu (I had to do it once because the search system was stuck). - You've just been resetted :D

My understanding of what Dustin explained was that the research on shells was off-timing with Stalkers.
They will probably reduce cost and research time to put it in line with stalkers so the first marauder doesn't win against Zealots like Patch 7, but doesn't lose against stalkers like Patch 8.

Apparently they haven't realized the ability for marauders to follow their opponent all teh way back to their base picking off retreating units the entire time or that Marauders r now more hated than the Roach for a reason.

The current issue with marauder vs stalker (that I've come across) is that poking at the protoss with your first few marauders to make sure they are building units results in either you doing tons of damage because they don't have lots of units, or you losing all your marauders because the stalkers are faster and can follow them all the way home. Before patch 8, you could slow them down as you run away and make it not worth it for them to try chase you.

Where exactly did Blizzard reveal that? O_o Hate news articles like that which dont give you any sources so I'm having a hard time believing any of this. Except for the patch+reset this week part of course.

My understanding of what Dustin explained was that the research on shells was off-timing with Stalkers.
They will probably reduce cost and research time to put it in line with stalkers so the first marauder doesn't win against Zealots like Patch 7, but doesn't lose against stalkers like Patch 8.

The current issue with marauder vs stalker (that I've come across) is that poking at the protoss with your first few marauders to make sure they are building units results in either you doing tons of damage because they don't have lots of units, or you losing all your marauders because the stalkers are faster and can follow them all the way home. Before patch 8, you could slow them down as you run away and make it not worth it for them to try chase you.
You might want to consider that Marauders with slow can do just that to every single Protoss unit. They also win 1on1 vs Stalkers and are actually 25min and 25 gas cheaper.

Since your article is telling the truth I'm sorry I had such critical words for it but please understand that just one or two days ago there was a thread on TL, bringing false news about chat channels being implemented in the next patch so it's only natural to be skeptical.
I am logging on as different people for some reason. I am typing my user/pass like regular but it is logging me on to all different kinds of accounts. I just logged onto some guys account who was number 2 on platinum 1v1, and I have also got into a couple of different peoples accounts.
This is pretty messed up - hopefully this gets fixed soon.

I can't play any ladder games atm, the "Find Match" button is deactivated. I've logged into my account like 10 times now and it's still not working ...

I was hoping I wouldn't get hit by the reset stick, but it happened to me too yesterday. I got back into gold, but I'm down quite a bit from where I was Please let the patch happen today. If they are holding it back despite all these problems, it must be an absolutely huge content patch.

Wow lol, got reset again unsurprisingly so i went about doing some placements and was 2-0 then tabbed out to read some posts on here, tab back in and i apparently just lost a game and only have 2 placements left, yet clicking on the game shows it was between 2 random other guys lol >.<

Yesterday I logged in and my profile was all fucked up, no ladders and everyone on friends list was offline but I could still talk to them, etc. I clicked "multiplayer" and it asked me for my skill level, I selected 'veteran', then got a screen with no icons except "find match" and "map preferences" but they were partially cut off. Anyway I hit enter and at the top it said "Three versus Three...searching..." for a few seconds and then it said "ERROR: FILE NOT FOUND" and SC2 crashed.
Haven't been able to reproduce it, now when I login my profile is fine :-O

They've probably gotten more solid data in just the past week than in the previous 3 weeks before that, errors like this can sometimes be a valuable thing as long as it happens in beta.
I logged on to play for the first time in a couple weeks and lost all my friends list data and rankings after relogging a couple times how disappointing at least there's a fix on the way...

Go air? Drop in? Use siege weapons?
Spine crawlers sort of suck, if you have a mass of stimmed marauder/marine/medivac with upgrades, you should be able to roll the spine crawlers, regardless of whether you drop into his main or use siege tanks.

Nothing comes free, if he got so many Spine Crawlers, he's sacrificing economy and army. You should have more troops and better map control.

I could just as easily ask why someone as reputable as he would access the patch files via ftp, without authorization, and post them on the forums, knowing Blizzard's zero-tolerance policy on that sort of activity.

I REALLY hope this exists, because so many maps are dark with 'sunset' type shadows. I think it would be sweet to have some high-noon maps. It would especially be more clear to play/observe. EG: shakuras plateau and metalopolis seem too dark to me.

will apparently that is the txt that has been displayed prior to every patch relased, so we assume that patch will come, the only way we will know for sure is if a blizz employer posts on battle.net or we w8 till we can log back in, and have to start all over from stratch

Usually about 45 minutes I think, most of the time the patch was available for download when you launched SC2 about halfway into that (but b.net would still be down). This is a much bigger patch than the previous ones though, so it may take longer.

Balance Changes
* TERRAN o Marauder + Concussive Shells research cost decreased from 100/100 80 seconds to 50/50 60 seconds.
* PROTOSS o Immortal + Build time increased from 40 to 55.
* ZERG o Infested Terran + Damage increased from 5 to 8. + Speed decreased from 1.5 to 0.9375. o Queen + Speed off creep decreased from 1.5 to 0.938. (Speed on creep unchanged.) o Spine Crawler + Attack period decreased from 1.6 to 1.85. o Infestor + Neural Parasite range increased from 7 to 9. + Fungal Growth projectile removed; Units in the target area are now instantly hit.

is it just me or is that backwards? wouldnt a decrease make it 1.6 from 1.85?
or is the wording just funny and means it will have a slower attack speed?

This isn't weird at all. The Attack period is in seconds so going from an attack every 1.6 seconds to every 1.85 seconds is a decrease. However a more straight-forward wording would be:
So what caused this weird thing to lose your placements and people starting playing on others accounts. Did they really solve all of that with this patch?
