[Request] Sharing a battle.net (Blizzard) account

I was wondering if anybody knows how Blizzard looks upon sharing a battle.net account? I'd like to give a friend the chance to try out the beta (I finally got a key, weeeee! :D), but I don't want my account to get banned or anything, especially now. Althought technically using a different IP and PC shouldn't be a problem, I thought I'd ask first to be safe. Any experience with this?

From what I heard from a very reliable source (someone close to blizzard).. They have an IP/region/timezone tracking system setup so that if they see activity from different locations, they draw up red flags, and could ban your account if they thought it was suspicious. I have heard of at least one guy having his account banned for this.

If your friend lives in the same city as you, or very close, It should be fine.. But if he was in like Japan and you are in Slovenia.. I wouldnt take the risk.

I've instead heard of Europeans sharing accounts between people that are from all over the continent and nothing's ever happened to those accounts.

Simultaneous login attempts from different computer is a sure fire way to get your account flagged. Sharing the info is risky no matter the situation, but if you guys will never login at same time and are living relatively close, its probably fine.

There's nothing against having the Beta on your home computer and your computer at your vacation house etc afaik.

nothing has happened to them so far, but i think blizzard is pretty damn occupied with other things right now, wouldnt surprise me if they warned everyone about it soon tho (when sc2 come out)

i let my friends play while I'm at work, and before I got my key, I played on other friends' accounts...

Well this rule makes sense for the beta, but I haven't heard of it stated outright.

Sharing your battle.net account is against the EULA no matter what since all the games registered to it are supposed to be for personal use only (the fact that you may have SC2b in it is irrelevant), thus Blizzard will never approve of that or state that it's safe to let people play with your login but I doubt they are ever going to practically do something about it, even because I haven't heard of a single documented ban till now.

I thought they didn't really care but if your account get stolen then you're basically screwed.

Blizzard doesn't like people doing it, but they wont really do anything about it in terms of like ip trace you and w/e. But if your account becomes compromised you can basically say good bye to it cause blizz is just gonna lol at you and do nothing

Thanks for the quick replies!

Yeah, I figured we'd have to be really careful not to log in at the same time. Thankfully we're living relatively close, so it shouldn't be a problem of looking too suspicious providing we don't screw up by both wanting to play. And if my account gets stolen, I can always do this
