You can use the mouse to macro back at your base without the view being there, since you can still use control groups. I think DeltruS is technically right in that it'd be impossible to tell between a player who's just kind of bad and someone only using their mouse. I just played a game against my friend who's Bronze (I'm plat), and from the replay, it looks like we both just had bad mechanics/APM.

Well, since you can display hotkeys, it's obvious when a keyboard was used.
Not using the keyboard should be horrible for Zerg.... instead of holding Z/R you have to click it with the mouse and mouse clicks are soooooooo slow (at least for me :p)

The Mouse-only fundaymonday can be semi-verified. All your hotkeys must be rightclicked in succession to open up new control groups. If you manage to have 1, 4, 5, and 9 open, you used the keyboard. Now people probably could just cheat by running an artosis bind, but....wheres the fun in that.
Edit: Whoops, No-Mouse would have really been cruel.

What, no mouse? like in no mouse at all ?

Day9, the best rent reminder there is xD.

Actually, I use the 1,2,3,4,5, etc. when I macro. Not all people are using 1,4,5 and 9. But none the less, this funday monday wouldn't be fun if you didn't follow the rules. Btw, why does almost "everyone" uses the 1,4,5, and 9? I thinks it feels better with 1,2,3.

It bugged me how the guy who did nothing all game ended up winning. But I guess thats what you do in a FFA, don't get on anyones nerves and start a battle, just turtle and mass :D.

I think most people use 1, 2, and 3 for army and scouts and things like that, but obviously everyone's different. It is slightly ergonomically better to use 4 and 5 for macro if you're using the standard hotkeys because your index finger is more independent (the other three fingers like to move "together" slightly).
To see what I'm talking about, try putting your ring finger on 1 and the index and middle on S and D, then compare it to putting your index on 4 and your ring and middle on A and S; you'll notice that the ring finger feels slightly strained because it wants to curl like the middle finger, whereas the index finger is completely fine being straight while the others are curled.
It's a little different with Protoss because you're using E instead of S for workers, so it can be better to use 1 for your nexus, but it's generally more comfortable to use 4, 5, and 6 as Terran because the main macro hotkeys are S, A, and D, and it's WAY more ergonomic as Zerg to have your hatches on 4/5/6 because you always have to hit 4s/5s/6s.
edit: just want to make it clear that I'm not saying that using 4 and 5 is superior, use whatever you find most comfortable, I'm just stating the reasons why most people do it that way
