Protoss: Blink stalkers or VR are often used in this matchup so it would be pointless. Also they would be effective agains muta/roach. Terran: Medivac drops/harras. Don't play them though (I'm protoss) so couldn't tell you what their "advantage" is that makes the build not work. Zerg: The only way they can get past your wall is a nydus worm or air. Mutas are easily countered in zvz and almos no laddering Z thinks nydus...
The building placement works mostly for ZvZ since Zerg cant wall in at the ramp. Why do the other races wall in at the ramp? Its to prevent speedlings running in and sniping workers.
Zerg can't wall in hence we have to improvise with building placement and roaches.

also, the other races don't rely on melee so much. if zerglings can't surround things, they don't really deal damage

About the D9 ZvZ build, i do not know if anyone said this, but i put it on a C12`s BuilOptimizer and i got this: 10 ExtrTrick 11 Pool 10 OV 10 ExtrTrick 14 Gas 13 Queen 16 Zergling 18 OV 18 RW 18 Lair 23 OV 23 Gas 22 Roachx2 ...
I did try the build and everything seems faster and better and with that early pool i think you can do ok even against 7-8 pools that he had trouble

This kinda supports my point : why can't we have some terran dailies once in a while??? The last weeks have been so focused on zerg and protoss that I'm rapidly loosing interest in the show despite being a dedicated fan a few weeks ago. Sure I don't mind the other races being featured as long as a relative balance is maintained, which is absolutely not the case at the moment.
Dose anyone know the name of this song? I was lucky enough to catch a recording. I posted it on Youtube hoping someone has the answer... (fingers crost it dosen't get pulled for copyright before I find out who the artist is)

The other races have early long range units (marines, marauders, stalkers) that would make the tight buildings pointless. They would just shoot things from far away as you scramble to get out of your base. Roaches are short range and would still get gummed up by the buildings (and obviously you're getting your roaches out too).
Zerg early attacks can always be defeated by good building placement. Which is why zerg early attacks are terrible.

Well okay, that makes sense, I don't want to be caught against ranged units by my own buildings. But still, I think it makes your base much harder to attack in the early game. Neither Terran nor Protoss can simply a1 into my worker line any more.
I will just try it and if I get roflstomped by T and P I will revert back to a different build....

Has day9 ever used last fm? We should all force him to start using last fm so all his music he plays gets scrobbled to his lastfm account! We would never need to go through this mission for his music ~_~
