You literally only have to select the base and hit a single hotkey and 5-10 of your SCV's will just vanish outta the mineral line, effectively stopping the majority of damage a harass could cause.
Obviously, it wouldn't stop it all. Rarely does someone have 10 SCV's or less at a base, but expo's can protect some of their SCV's while the cavalry comes in and such. I feel like its very much forgotten due to that old habit from SC1 where you pull all your workers off the line to keep them from being sieged/reavered/nuked/medicrushed/muta'd/stormed/etc.
What do you think Dr. Plott? Is stashing your SCV's a good idea or a waste of time/mining? Well I'm guessing it's because people usually quickly upgrade their CC. It also requires an upgrade to hold 10 SCV, only 5 by default. The orbital command cannot load units, so this mainly applies to the planetary fortress which can protect against ground harass. So I guess it could be used early game and other times where you haven't yet upgraded your CC or for the planetary fortress against harass like mutas.
But it could be applied elsewhere. Say Protoss is attacking your planetary fortress, you will use your SCVs to repair, if he uses Psi Storm on your SCV you can load them into the fortress and release them to repair once Psi Storm disappears.

What do you think Dr. Plott? Is stashing your SCV's a good idea or a waste of time/mining? Unless your going to lose all of the SCVs, you will save more by not loading them. More SCVs means damage will be more spread out and you will have more units to fight back with depending on the situation. Also, rarely will you have a regular Command Center anywhere on the map for this to even be an option.

Oh, Orbital can't hold units? This I didn't know. I thought Orbital could too. That makes a world of difference in my head for it, though. IT ALL MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE!
Haha.
Thanks for clearing that up Lemure.

Day, can you do a cast with everything set to Ultra? I'd be a cool way to probe all the confusion a pro would be subjected to if the game weren't set to low.

I play on High and I don't see the confusion mostly. It only used to be really bad due to the creep gamma but they seemed to of fixed that now.

Day[9]
Would you ever consider showing parts of the game FPVOD style?
I think it helps showcase how good these players are, is enlighting for new players to learn proper base management, and could make some of the more slower moments more exciting for spectators.

well i actually mentioned my shampoo on my stream haha . Moreover, I fully endorse stalking of all sorts. It makes me feel truly beautiful .
Anyway, to Day [9]: you do a great job of pointing out the good and bad parts of each build (like timings and certain strategies that a certain build allows). But for a few minutes in some DND, instead of just focusing on each strategy, could you point out the aspects of each race that you feel are underused. For example: I feel that zerg overlords are EXTREMELY misused. No longer are players analyzing maps for key overlord placements (besides the first 2-3 overlords). Also, the creep spawning (however annoying the sound may be) can be used for so much more -- like moving in a group of Overlords to take hits/cover key units and then spew right on top of the terran and roll some banelings in. I only play zerg, so I cant think of any examples for other races, but just after watching, it just seems that there are whole bunch of aspects to the game that people are just not realizing.
Maybe for example, and I am just guessing here, but I think the near future holds a revolution in the colosus and hellion. Players will practice hours to learn how to micro those two units effectively, and they will become a terror on the battlefield.
The colosus -- an extremely mobile, long range, high damage unit that cannot be blocked by units or terrain. If people realized that they should be microing the colosus backwards the whole time (instead of just after they have lost their entire army) I feel this unit would become amazing. Even though it already is amazing...
The hellion -- wicked speed, And amazing micro actually increases its damage (by making sure the enemy is in a line). It has incredible potential...
Any thoughts anyone?
I think these are fantastic ideas!!!
I'll definitely make sure to talk more about some underused units and the like. It will definitely be very situational, but I'll definitely be thinking of saying more stuff like "So most players would do X in this situation, and that's fine. However, unit Y is a very rarely used unit that would be phenomenal in this situation."
More importantly, this is your first post on TL! Welcome to the forums :>

Has the chat been moderator only all day or has day9 been streaming all day? :o

I never do DND requests, but I think it's time to take a look at new terran openings/strategies since the patch affected them so much. I know strategies haven't had time to mature, but I've uncovered a few things which are startlingly strong.

Our Mike Sexton / John Madden of Starcraft. A very important piece of the puzzle and the tournament owners and networks should know that you are as much a draw (sometimes more) than the players. No no, when Sean says stuff it's generally worthy of note and not like, 'The team with the most points at the end of the game usually wins' -John Madden
Hopefully if blizz hires Sean as their official shoutcaster for SC2 tourneys :3
Ps: Grats on over 35 million viewer minutes Sir Plott!

Fantastic job as usual Mr.9, in case you are looking for entertainment, videos to analyze, or a cast to make fun of how bad someone is you can go to my channel (livestream.com/ursad0n) and since i just learned how to use procaster (which is awesome) and i am trying to get my stream to appear on TL, but the main point is please check out my channel :D Thanks! 8>
P.S. I am the one who posted this before the cast today (D9D number 98) and you said it was bjejugular (i don't know how you spelled it)
EDIT: Did my PM give you the idea for DND number 100? (may have been sent from Jlab my old account) Just curious.

I know you mentioned a Donation availibility for Paypal. However I missed the Paypal account you provided. Wondering if you could put it in your info so if poeple want to donate for better equipment and stuff we can do so. Especially to help you out. However if confidentiality is a concern, don't post it. Just wondering.
