regardless of whether or not acid would kill/incapacitate an enemy, this would totally take away from the intended game design. This isn't a fighting game, it's a horror game. You are suppose to feel helpless and afraid. When fight or flight fails all you can do is hide, and this game intends to take advantage of this primal instinct to create fear in the player. Adding a gimmick where you can fling acid at the monsters would completely take away from the general ambiance of the game

The game tells you straight away that you can't fight enemies. Just deal with it. Throwing heavy objects would probably do something as well, but there is some suspension of disbelief necessary with any immersive game.

Just wanted to say how awesome this is. I've already beaten this game, and while I loved it, I wouldn't say it has much replayability but here I am watching day9 play and its just as fun.
Hope he does more of these in the future. Penumbra and Cryostasis come to mind as most similar in terms of gameplay, but I think Dead Space or Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl would probably be more interesting.

Exactly.

By the way, flinging heavy objects will temporarily stun the monsters allowing you to escape but they're only still for a moment.

You learn this in the wine cellar. AKA 10 minutes into the game.

It's established in the first letter from past Daniel to present Daniel that fighting back does nothing. actually, the "monster" daniel is fighting against is not the mummy guy (there's total of 4 different monsters in this game) the shadow is a much much bigger being that is incomprehensible, it's basically invisible but leaves traces of those bloody looking tumors. Mummies are guardian of the castle, I doubt they would care about some acids on their face Hm, and here I figured every enemy was a manifestation of the shadow. Guess that shows how much time I've spent playing it?
Actually it's pretty ambiguous. They could be the soldiers that Alexander poisoned in the wine cellar or the servants of the castle somehow turned into monsters. Or beings from another world. It's not really clear.

Why cant you brandish torches at them or throw down bookcases to hinder them chasing you? Or why cant you make molotov cocktails with random bottles lying around and just light things on fire?
if we looked at random technicalities of all games, everything would be ruined.

I miss the daily. But that's okay I shall catch up tomorrow.
To everyone arguing the technicalities of this game, need I remind you that this is just a game. A game that is primarily based upon fear and needing to hide rather than fight. That is all, no need to argue what acid will do to the monster.

So when will the VODS be up? :O

Man, i hate these amnesia playtroughs! I watch them with headphones and the lights out in a small room. I struggle to not turn off the full screen! Its mentally painful, and i feel like ive just been in a near death experience with a car afterwards. Shaking and just dulled of mind.
I was scared of diablo 2 when i was younger though. Hated those dungeons with them zombies and stuff
