XP is not about work or skill, its just about time invested. Even if you used the 4v4 trick with the AFK based strat it still takes a fair bit of time. And personally I am glad that blizzard is rewarding us for helping them to develop the game. They need us beta testing as much as we can. Just look at what the beta was like before patch 1. ![]() The point of XP (imo) is to give new or casual players a sense of achievement even when they loose. The goal being to try to get them past ladder anxiety and the crushing blow that a 50% loss rate brings some people. Hopefully the experience system will achieve this goal and encourage new players to learn to understand the game before giving up on it. For everyone else its either meaningless or an unimportant bonus.

Can someone with a US account (I have HotS EU) post in this thread http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/7810050954 and ask if the max level reached between 24th and 31th of January is indeed intended to stay and not affected by the XP revert?

Apparently it is a display issue for those that did not lose levels which is fixed from playing and earning some experience. Can anyone else confirm that they 1) lost no levels, 2) had negative xp for a race and 3) played the race with negative and had their xp changed back to non-negative? Hopefully this is the case so not everyone got screwed that show negative xp if your level did not change. It does suck for those that lost entire levels. XP bonuses would be great as you can see from screenshots floating around, those are planned for the future but I don't think they will be in Beta since they want to test the base xp speed. I'd guess that they will increase the amount needed for each level for release though so it takes longer to achieve than c. 100 games per race. I'd guess the XP will double or triple at least to provide a bit of longevity. We will find out in under 6 weeks!

Well, Blizzard already said that people with negative XP should play some games and it will normalize. And remember that it's much less than 6 weeks. The beta closes 2 or 3 weeks before release. Don't think that you have until March 11th to get the portraits.

I'm going to assume that when Februrary ends (or this Season on March 1st), so will the beta. On January 31 2013 23:48 [F_]aths wrote: Forget the level display in the profile. The real level is the one which is shown after a game. Mine never shows up (aside from 1st win) unless I take the extra time to finish the game and 'win' instead of dropping at the reduction. I'll go through a full win tonight and see if the level on the screen shows something different than the profile.
