lmao...what a joke. Nice testing, Blizz.
Seriously, just make it back to range 9, not a projectile, and change it to a 50% or even 75% slow and call it a fucking day. That's all that needs to be done to fungal, make it not freeze units -_-
The sheer idiocy of this change is beyond comprehension. How could they all agree to try this? Even the programmers must have been scratching their heads when they implemented the patch. Even on PAPER it looks dumb. Then you watch this video and it is just absurdly wrong.
I think the whole community agrees on the following: Fungal needs to be a 50% slow Snipe nerf was too much (and the +vs psionic was dumb too, why have 2 abilities made to counter casters?) Ravens, Carriers and BCs suck, first of alll because they take too long to build Colossus is boring
SC2 could have been like Brood War, but poor design made it nowhere near it. HOTS could fix things, but until now they have failed to make the correct moves.
I'm still boycotting WOL while it remains in this state, and I won't buy HOTS in this state.
I completely agree with you. And I'm also holding out on getting HOTS too. I think Blizzard are into self-mutilation, they gave us 2 good patches (8&9), which were on the way to restoring sanity to the game and then they took a massive step back with BU#10 fungal. The Blizzard forums are so retarded compared to TL. Way more crappy threads and idiots than on TL. And I'm sure Blizzard read more of their own forums than any other :-!

How could something so ridiculous get past the office? At this point I really don't see how Blizzard could not have a hidden agenda. "Mech is in an rather nonviable state vs anything but non-mirror... sounds like a great time to do nothing about it and buff fungal to stronger than WoL!"

You do realize that its only a few months to release and that such HUGE changes dont spell good for the balance on release date? Some sort of balance was reached in WoL only after some decent - speak: NON-BLIZZARD - maps were available to play on, but they insisted upon showing off their awesome map making skills in HotS again. So its not good to have these "guesswork changes" yet ...
I have a great idea for making everyone happy with the infestor. Bring back the replicant, but give it to both Protoss and Terran and allow it only to replicate the infestor. Sorted..

My favorite part is that DK said they liked the new fungal with their internal testing, but they wanted to test it more in the beta.
David Kim:
Just to clarify, 15 speed for missiles is not fast at all. We're not reverting the fungal nerfs. And the 10 range is nowhere near as good as the instant fungal at 9 range. There's obviously a higher chance to miss with this current fungal if you shoot it from a longer distance.
We really liked playing with this version of Fungal Growth internally because the tradeoff between getting in closer for more accurate fungals vs. shooting from a safer distance for less accurate fungals is working out decently well.
However, we can only test so much internally is why we'd like to try the change in the beta. This, just like everything else in the HotS beta, is not final.
At the blizzard office, "Damn this new fungal is sick, let's put it on live servers! It's not OP at all." >_< I've concluded that everyone at the blizz office in charges of making decisions has just swapped to Zerg. It's the only logical choice right now, both in WoL and beta, so why not.

They're wasting time testing these dumb changes that don't need to be tested. They would have had the time to do something drastic like move warp gate to twilight tech with 200/200 cost, or make gateway to warpgate conversion cost resources, or put a cap of 7 larva per hatch, 9 per Lair, 11 per Hive or something.

You know what gets me the most about it? David kim or browder (I can't recall which) quoted as saying "that isn't even that fast". That's what absolutely blows my mind.
Also since this patch I am almost only playing exclusively zvz now because nobody wants to deal with the STRONGER fungal then in WoL. I don't blame terrans/tosses who stopped playing the beta, with the new infestor I am tempted to stop playing as a zerg till it's nerfed so that I can get non zvz's again.

There are definitely a few idiots on that design team that love the infestor too much. Watching ZvZ is great until infestors start pooping out ITs and long range fungals. I'm so much happier with almost every other aspect of HOTS at the moment, with one or two minor issues, however chain-fungal just makes me want to vomit.

IMO they can revert back to 8 range but with 15 speed projectile.
No a beta should be not be used to "test" stuff which makes absolutely no sense. The beta should, however, have been used to first rebalance the game completely. This rebalancing will cause a lot of balancing problems and will further need some design tweaks, so that's whats most of the remaining patches should have focussed at. At this point in the beta it is insane that are still focussing on buffing the worst designed spell ever instead of making mech TVP viable. The design team must really hate the tank or something like that.

They started doing so with the last big patch. I hope they continue...
Lol, looking at the video, you can see that on the 2nd set of fungals, the Vikings are turning around once they saw the infestors in range. But due to accelerate model of units, the Vikings hardly moved before it was fungaled. David Kim must have the sickest reaction times ever if he doesn't think those are too fast. He can probably dodge EMPs as well.
And the 10 range actually makes chain fungals even easier and safer. Which was one of the main issues for air units.
What baffles is not the changes to the infestor (people are overreacting like crazy) it's how blind Blizzard seems to be to the community's general opinion of the infestor. When they finally implement a change that might lessen the qq they buff it straight away? What the hell are they thinking?
stupid fungal is stupid , i hate it , nerf it to oblivion and buff hydras/muta/other accordingly so zerg has a reliable midgame for gods love.
What I don't get is Hydras/Mutas and Swarm Hosts are all perfectly fine. I've no idea why they buffed the infestor again since to fix ZvZ against mutas you just had to get some hydras and queens.
