I'm surprised that this idea hasn't come up (or maybe I was completely blind and didn't see another topic) but what about going through the campaign in the fastest time possible?
Possible rules for a speed run: 1. Must indicate difficulty level (that's pretty obvious) 2. Indicate if you are going for a "complete run" (meaning completing everything that is humanly possible) or minimal objectives to complete the campaign. 3. Clearly provide video of your play of all missions 4. The time is computed by the total amount of time spent on missions only.
There is an achievement for beating all the levels in under 8 hours of total play time, but I would suspect its possible to do it under 7 hours.
I'm wondering who would be interested in this?

The campaign is just so boring to interest me enough to play it through again, much less in the fastest time possible.
Once you beat the game once, there is just no desire to go through the exact same crap again for no gain.

I went through the campaign about a week or two ago going as fast as I could for the under 8 hours achievement (mostly on normal, Media Blitz and All In were on Hard). I did not do In Utter Darkness or Piercing the Shroud. I had a final time of 351 minutes (5 hours, 51 minutes). I'm sure if you skipped everything not needed and bumrushed it, you could get under 4 hours, but I'm not about to try it.

There are a couple speedrunning websites of good repute like speeddemosarchive.com, that's where you should post a strong record time.
p.s. there are some badass runs there, check it out.

Have to agree. I didn't get any urge to replay any missions. Contrast this to WC3 campaign where I still get urges to do a complete replay every now and then. Kind of disappointing.

the achievement is for beating the campaign, not ALL the mission, you can skip all the zeratul, colonists and matt horner missions
my best time for all 26 missions is 7:47 right now on hard mostly, but I did not really try for a speed run, still no achievement :-(

Eventually some crazy kids will come up with some very fast campaign runs and post them on Speed Demos Archive just like they've done with the StarCraft Campaign as well as the Brood War Campaign
Some of the ideas used for these original Speed Runs are just incredible Maybe I'm a bit of a nerd but I generally love what Speed Demos Archive is able to achieve sometimes

Heh, I've done it 4-5 times by now, in order to place research points differently and get different units for different maps.

I did the Raid Night achievement in 4 hours and 25 minutes, 19 missions on normal I think. Under 4 hours would definitely be possible, a faster mission route and some time shaved off on other missions wouldn't be that hard.
