I did this on brutal, it seems like you got the idea right since you get the first nexus down easily with 3 vikings - you need to abuse the terrain to have a shot at making it in time. I only trained vikings and bought the mercinaries for defense. When you have 5 or so vikings go to the next nexus, and start of by unpowering the cannons by shooting down the flying pylons - forgot the name. Kill the colossus and try to avoid losing vikings. Once those 3 units are down, land the vikings on the platform and kill the nexus - stalkers might intercept you but they cant shoot you if you stay back on the hill - and you can shoot them. Remember to intercept the fleet of carries / void rays coming towards the camps, and kill them in their path. The last (bottom) nexus is the hard one. Make sure you have like 7 or more vikings. Same strategy, use the terrain to lure the carries away from defense. Kill them of 1 by 1, kill the flying pylons. Land the vikings behind the minerals and kill zealot + archon + sentry. Kill nexus and then mothership. gl hf | ||

Purifier mothership was really annoying though, casting vortex and warping in sizeable amount of stalkers and carriers along with some zealots. I set vikings out of it's max range to fire from safety and had the ground forces to take on the warped units. | ||

Use marauders to tank at nexuses, and vikings for DPS. When mothership approaches third populated camp(the base you're in counts as the fourth) pull all scvs and attack the mothership, causing them to absorb the vortex and thereafter draw stalker fire. Kill the carriers first and then the mothership. profit. | ||

this is not in sequence but just the general idea =) first go for econ first n upgrade barracks to tech n quickly get the 1 nuke silo n then another one afta that all u need is two bunkers with the rines w/ stime n medics they give u and scv have to defend ur base with the 3 vikings if needed start building ghost/spectre (spectres r ezier to do this w/ unlimited cloak) n a medivac 1st nexus area, nuke n rid the 2 cannons in ur way, then get in 2 ghost/spectre, there is a safe spot bottom of the nexus afta u rid the cannons, u can start shooting and nuke when rdy start getting 2 more nuke silos load the medivac with 2 brand new spectre n a scv incase u cant dodge ![]() using the medivac, maneuver up the path to nexus 2 n go to the right as far as u can, then sneak ur medivac behind the minerals n probes, yes the cannon will hit u a few times but its kk quickly unload the 2 spectres n get ur medivac out the same way u came in, scan to guide u repair if needed n pick up the first 2 spectres from nexus 1, they should be done reactor the starport n start building vikings but leave money for nukes n u can get 2 more spectres if u want the 2 spectres can start nuking n then blastin away at nexus 2 maneuver the medivac to the middle colony n then btwn the nexus 3 n the above colony under attk guide it all the way to the left after n down, here u will unload the 2 spectre behind the minerals n probes again, its safe there, use scan so u can see then nuke n attk away continue to rapidly building mass vikings with the 2 spectres from nexus 2 done or the brand new spectres built, go to the middle colony n scare away the carriers n stuff use scvs or somethin so mothership would use its blackhole n then vikings move in with scv support to attk, also u can nuke away with ur spectres =) i did this when mothership was still movin n it doesnt attk bak n done | ||

For the purposes of the My Precious! achievement, does the main base count as a colony base as well? Raynor's comment suggests it doesn't, but the fact that the mission doesn't end in failure when you lose the first 3 kind of suggests it does. Whenever I try to engage right over the center colony, I get massacred... If the main base counts, then I don't have to push the issue that early and I can stock up on a bunch more vikings... edit: Nevermind, answered it myself. It does count, so all you really need to do is keep the top left colonist base & your main base safe. Makes getting this achievement a heck of a lot easier... | ||

I always lose some Vikings because when I land on high ground, smart computer Hallucinates a Colossi and can shoot air now. Most annoying thing ever. | ||

![]() I put a Tech Reactor on my Starport as well as on my Barracks. Didn't build any more structures than what was initially available through the mission. Starting mining and Muling while building the last two Refineries imidiately with my Auto-Refinery Research. Ended up with a lof of excess gas at the end though ![]() With 4-6 Vikings I headed east landing on the cliff to take out the Nexus easy. Then I flew straight back home not worrying about any of the Protoss army at the first base. Meanwhile my Barracks was only producing Marauders with a few Medics but you don't really need a lot of those. I also upgraded Ebay attack. With about 10-12 Vikings I headed southeast to the 2nd Protoss base. I landed on the west side but only after I took a few hits while I took out the Warp Prisms and Collosi. You need to deny the Protoss high-ground vision. After that just land and easily take out the Nexus with your Viking force before heading back again and regrouping. Whenever the Protoss sends a "death squad" just attack the few Carriers and Void Rays with you Vikings and they'll be taken out easily. Once that was dealth with I flew my large Viking army to the left side of the 3rd Protoss base and moved all of my MMM ground force just to the right side of the base. I quickly stimmed and healed before moving the ground forces in to distract the Protoss army while my Viking Warriors flew into the base and landed to deal the killing blow to the last Nexus. After that was killed quickly retreat and make all of your surviving Vikings attack the Mothership and rally the new ones straight to it. I managed to take it out midway to the 2nd outpost saving 3 of them. Was a lot easier than I thought it would be but some quick Achievement points on my account ![]() | ||

You start, make 1 bunker in each entrance, make reactor on starport and inmeaditly go kill the first nexus with vikings (snipe warp prism then land on cliff) then you constantly pump vikings (and fill your bunkers with rines) and with around 5 vikings you go to the second (bottom right.. (or middle right, dont remember)) Same. Snipe voidrays, snipe warp prism, snipe collosus, land on cliff, kill nexus. While constantly makeing vikings (remember supply depots and you can introduce a second starport later) with around 7 vikings you go for the third (bottom left). And same story, snipe carriers, voidrays and warp prism and land on the cultivations and you can easily kill the couple zealots and archon. Kill nexus and go kill mothership. Be away of mothership range because it has 7 range and your vikings 9 so you can attack without getting hit. Snipe carriers if there are and remember to constantly build vikings. | ||

Whenever the Purifier sends out a squad, move your viking fleet to rip it apart. When the nexuses are down, use the vikings to kill it. | ||

And by saving three bases, it includes your base, so that means you have to kill the Mothership BEFORE it reaches the third colonist base (I think....) to save three bases. | ||

I used the orbital for mules, autorefinery to save money on SCVs and get earlier gas, and a tech reactor for the occational science vessal. If you dont have a tech reactor, get 1 reactor (and 1 tech lab if you have Science Vessels). You pretty much need to go pure viking (leaving a few mauraders back at the base to hold off any of their pushes. Don't attack the first base until you have about 8 vikings and 1-2 science vessels. When you do, clean up any air units asap and switch all into ground mode and takeout any ground units. Around this time I had to kill the Carriers squad but by this time I had enough vikings to clean up it instantly. Keep healing up and taking out bases asap. Wait for reinforcements and get an upgrade or two before you attack the mothership. While her attack isnt godlike, she summons reinforcements that need to be taken out. | ||

Marines, medics, and whatever new unit (Viking). You can literally clear out all the bases with no trouble using your M/M, bringing vikings to support against air presence and colossi. The AI doesn't really have much in its arsenal to throw at mass infantry besides colossi (see above) and templar (third base in brutal, not sure about hard), and stimmed marines can dodge storms. Whenever the Purifier spawns a wave of air, split your vikings to clean up. When the shields are down, tail it with vikings, and get your M/M onto it where appropriate. You shouldn't have to expand at all during the mission. | ||
