I was playing the campaign on brutal, but I got tired of having to work so hard to beat it, so I did the rest on hard after the first two or three missions. Unfortunately, it now thinks that I did not complete the campaign on hard, as a few of the missions were done on a higher difficulty setting, and I did not achieve the achievement for beating the game on hard.
Anyone with experience in this? If I start a new campaign and just do the ones I did on brutal on hard, will it remember I have done the rest and give it to me, or will I have to beat the game again?
Let this be a word of warning to anyone else who is/may do this... I think it's silly that if you do a few missions on a harder setting you lose what you would have earned had you done them on an easier one.

just go to your bridge and click the thing in the background. Then, select the missions you did on Brutal, do them on hard. Voila!
|
Oh, you can play the campaign after beating it? -_-
Well, that's easier. I tried to do that but it didn't work [brought up the screen saying 26/26 complete, hitting close brought me back to BNet]. I'll take another look, thanks

Brutal counts as hard too, maybe you're just missing the ones in the other path cause you need to do all 29 missions

You're probably missing the missions where you get to pick one side or the other. You can do the mission you didn't pick in the archives.

*first check if you are 25/26 missions completed *check the mengsk portrait achievement and see if you are missing the level "unveiling the shroud" or w/e ^if so read ahead. unveiling the shroud is a "secret mission" you have to unlock on the "media frenzy" level with the thors. there is a science facility in the southeast that you can kill that will reveal hidden documents and unlock the secret level. the level is actually quite crucial to the story

I'm actually a little confused, as I've completed all of the missions that are availble to me, though the Missions Complete counter only shows 25/26 and I can only see 28 missions on the list, rather than 29 (I've completed all of the missions on the list; I've gone back and completed the missions I did not choose).
Would anyone be kind enough to list the names of the 29 missions, maybe I can figure out what mission I don't have? I'm very, very sure that I did not miss any missions when I was playing through.
Edit: Oh, thanks above
Edit 2: So, I completed the Media Blitz mission and unlocked the secret mission, but it's not showing up in my mission log. Any ideas?

Yea if you completed the campaign you can't do the secret mission. You have to take an older save game at the media Blitz mission (look at your Unsaved folder for a save of that mission)
|
You can do the secret mission, if you load a save where you are still on the hyperion, unlock it and then you can go to the research lab instead of char. From that same save you can also go and do the two choice missions from there. If you want to do the air/nydus mission, you need to load a save from char.

repost :+ Show Spoiler +
Alright, so you take your Media Blitz save from the "unsaved" folder (hopefully near the end) and put it into the Campaign folder.
Then you start a mission, and save it.
Then inside the mission, you load your new Media Blitz save, and you go to the bottom right hand corner to destroy the neutral building
After you have finished the next mission you will get all your missing portraits, you load your earlier save, and quit the campaign.
You now have your portraits, but it still says 25/26, if you find that unacceptable, you have to finish all th emissions after media blitz from your media blitz save (i think, cba)
At least i have my bellowed kerrigan portrait
Really weird to make the missions this way, shouldn't be a secret mission, should be a part of the story, i was all wtf'ed up when i didn't get my portraits at the end.
edit: seems you have to do teh same with a save of teh "All In" when youa re done, or it will just go to teh cantina when you are done. i finished all in (witha little extra because of the secret mission only a little), and got the credits again, i hope it says 26/26 now
edit2: it doesnt, still can't revisit the secret mission... whatever. this is dumb anyway

I have completed all 29 missions on hard, going back through to the archive missions screen and completed all other missions. Iv'e completed them all on hard but still no mengsk portrait? Wtf?

Go to the actual achievement, click the plus button, and look through which missions are greyed out. Those are the ones that the system believes you haven't cleared. Do them.
From what I understand, Brutal clears count towards the Warfield and Arcturus portraits, since I got both on my way to getting Sarah's portrait. Make sure you complete all the forks (Haven's Fall/Safe Haven, Breakout/Ghost of a Chance, Belly of the Beast/Shatter the Sky) and Piercing the Shroud.

listen to this guy. 100%true , got the same achievement spam when i finally did allin after doing all other missions. got raynor, warfield, mengsk and kerrigan at once.
for "piercing the shroud" the secret mission you have to go on a old save tho. since its not available in the archives and wont be unlocked if you do media blitz per archives again.

I did every mission on brutal, and have the Mengsk icon (as well as the Kerrigan one). You're either missing a few of the side-missions, or the achievement is bugged for your account (most likely the former case).
|
The 'Campaign' system is very weird, since it forces you along a path and also allows you to go re-do missions, but doesn't allow you to reap specific rewards from those missions, but achievements are just for your account, so the campaign progress, etc. doesn't matter specifically.
From my understanding, you cannot lose achievements, as they are connected to your battle.net account, but you can easily lose campaign progress since its on a per-playthrough basis, which doesn't really matter since achievements are the things that measure your progress, and if you save frequently you can just re-boot one of those to get back to the campaign mission-selection screen.
So if your achievement is missing a few missions, easiest solution is to just load up a saved file and go to the mission selection screen and play through whichever mission you require, since the campaign progress system seems very confusing and non-linear.
