Timewasted enough that we had enough injury time to score and then gave away one of the silliest penalties I've seen on 117 minutes. What was that randomly pushing her over in the box nowhere near the ball?
The Italy manager complaining about England timewasting in the last 2 minutes was ridiculous after that second half.
England just getting through again somehow

They're definitely not making it easy for themselves.

But at least they've had lots of attacking intent in the last two games, so I've not been disheartened watching them yet. Don't know when they're done.

I'm pretty sure only one team was employing deliberate shithousery last night and it wasn't the Lionesses!

Ekitike confirmed to LFC. If we manage to flip Diaz into Rodrygo and get Guehi, this might be one of the greatest transfer windows in the history of football.

Meanwhile Forest have lost Elanga, almost certainly losing MGW once our owner stops playing silly buggers with the guy's career, and we've bought two relatively unknown Brazilians and failed at about 20 transfers by refusing to pay what clubs want.

Absolute disaster following a great season considering our main preseason training camp has started already.

I think we're in for the dreaded 'transitional' season.

you guys have spent so much money this window that if even half your new signings flop you could be in a bit of trouble. feels like liverpool have gone all in on trying to build their future squad this window and wont have anything left in the bank to fix failed signings. unfortunately youre not man city

That’s pretty unlikely to happen. Robertson has been in decline, they got one of the best left backs in the Prem. Trent goes and they pick up a solid replacement in Frimpong, bit more of a maybe giving the league transition. Wirtz is outright one of the best players of his type in Europe, I’ll be staggered if he sucks.

Etitike was pricey enough, and it’s incredibly sad but he’s a Jota replacement, and they probably don’t pick him up but for that.

It’s an insanely good window. End of the season I felt Arsenal + a forward, or Man City getting back to their best after an off season were the favourites. After Liverpool’s transfer business I stick them atop the pile (for now)

Gibbs-White signs with Forest again.

Spurs fans are fuming. Can't blame them really.

Nah, he's getting older and wants a fat contract. There really isnt any buyers in the market outside of Bayern since Barca went with Rashford. Honestly, around 70m pound with addons is more than enough for us for him contract situation. He wanted to leave and get his last bag, we didn't want to pay it since he's aging. We wish him all the best and hope he succeeds. Really sucks that we're losing all the players this season with banger songs (Diaz, Chiesa, Jota </3)

If we do end up splashing on Isak and picking up Fofana/Rodrygo, and Guehi, yes I think it's an incredible amount of money to spend especially if some of these guys turn out to be flops (Ekitike in particular), but the rest of the signings have been known quantities or if they aren't, they're not that expensive. 40m on Frimpong and Kerkez each is fantastic business, and Wirtz is already known as one of if not the best CAM in the world. Really I'm just hoping for no serious injuries to our star players, that's what would derail our signings and season.

Plus outgoings are funding a reasonable chunk of our expenditures this season. Kelleher, Diaz, Trent, Quansah already gone for around 120m pounds total, then hope to add in Nunez for 50m, Chiesa for 15m, and Elliott for 30-40m for another 90-100m would bring out total outgoings to 200m to pay for the roughly 500m incomings (assuming everything goes accordingly to plan). We didn't spend at all last summer and no transfers in the winter either, so that money basically rolled over into this season. We'll still be set financially, and because of our policy of signing young players, we can always offload some of them for a small loss to recoup some of the investment.

It feels extremely strange, but combining men and women’s senior teams, and underage ones, England probably have a decent claim as the best footballing nation overall in relatively recent times.

As someone who follows Bundesliga I am more worried about Isak than Ekitike ^^

True. Where do you see Engerlands chances in WC next year? Cause I don't see Tommy making a decent team out of those clearly gifted players you guys got. It will be the same story as it always was

I don’t think you have to be a great side to win it, just good enough to scrape through.

I don’t think we’ve had a truly great men’s international side for quite a while, so really you just have to find a way

Other traditional powerhouses either have notable gaps in personnel in their teams, or aren’t hitting their potential for other reasons. France are maybe the only side with more top talent across all positions than England currently have, but I don’t know if Deschaumps is the man to harness that. Portugal insist on IMO handicapping their ability to compete against top sides by persisting with Ronaldo (and yes, I’m aware they won the Nation’s League!)

That said Tuchel has started a bit oddly, he’s doing the kind of moves Southgate did when he got the gig, but Southgate’s task was a rebuild and cultural reset, which he did very, very well even if he had other flaws. Tuchel’s job is to win right now in the short term, I’d have expected him to immediately start with what he thinks is his best side, and leave room to make some tweaks over the next while.

Honestly it’s not very sexy, I really think this might be a World Cup decided on the form, and especially the fitness of a handful of key players. We’ve already seen player’s struggling in the conditions of the Club World Cup, and this World Cup is being expanded to 48 teams.

If say, Rice, Palmer, Bellingham and Kane all have monster seasons and arrive pretty fresh at the WC, I think England have a good shot. If some of them are gassed, or injured, especially Kane and Rice who England don’t really have an equivalently good backup to, it’ll be tough.

Same goes for all sides really. I imagine say, German hopes will heavily rest on Musiala returning well from his horror injury, and rivalries aside I very much hope he does, and Wirtz being fit enough to play as he can

I think that was sufficiently proven by the women's team. They were less good on the field than Spain. They were less good than France (to whom they lost). And there's a case to be made that they were less good than Sweden. But they were good enough to lose to France when it wasn't all that important, and to not lose to Spain (and Sweden) when it was.

Any team is a stretch, the Euros are basically similar to the GSL these days. It’s the strongest teams around in terms of who can actually win it, with a small number of absences. You win a GSL you’re beating the majority of absolute top players around,

In the women’s game you’re really only missing the USA, in the men’s it’s Brazil and Argentina, and Brazil despite their history have really not had a World Cup quality winning side for quite a while now.

If we’re going by tiers, the Euros have most S tier teams, and a World Cup adds a few. It maybe bumps up the number of A tier sides as well. A peak Uruguay for example, probably better than non-elite European sides but aren’t going to actually win a World Cup
