Did he really start a quarrel with Nuno? No he didn't. It looked like that, but that's just Sky putting their spin on it. No-one knows what was actually said but both Nuno and Marinakis have said he was just pissed off about a screw up by the medical team that left us basically a player down unnecessarily. I don't think he actually started anything with Nuno, Nuno just happened to be the guy who went up to him to try and get him off the pitch. I would imagine Nuno told him they would figure it out inside away from the cameras and Marinakis just had a rant at him and that was it. He should definitely not have been on the pitch because nothing good can come from that, but I'm sure he didn't start anything with Nuno. His statement says how proud he is of Nuno and the team. Forest have truly run out of steam. We just don't have enough quality in depth for the whole season. What a shame. Still, Europa League is some achievement.

On the flip side, perhaps Forest can have a proper crack at going deep in the Europa if they confirm qualification there, in a way I just don’t quite see them doing yet in the CL Can’t say I approved of the segments of the Liverpool fans booing Trent, bizarre stuff. Poor. Speaking of Trent, I wonder if Alonso will use his Leverkusen system and we get to see what he can do as a wing back, or if he’ll go another path given Real’s squad composition

Earlier the season it was more intuitive because they’d draw a few, narrow loss and have a big win here or there. Those games where everything clicked and they’d blow a team away, IIRC they did it to United in the first fixture. I can’t really remember the last such performance. It feels they’ve ceased being a team that blows hot and cold, inconsistent but a fun watch for neutrals when it clicks, and just consistently poor. I know United and Spurs are both miles clear points wise, but it did get me thinking, has any team won a European competition in the same year they got relegated? I think Marseilles were close, but it was due to a corruption scandal and I don’t think it was a demotion that occurred that season

I think I remember Middlesborough getting to the final of a European cup when they were relegated, but they lost in the final. EDIT: I was wrong. Their UEFA Cup final appearance was a couple of years before their relegation.

Some Leverkusen players are leaving as well: Tah was almost a done deal with Barca but then the Olmo desaster happened. Right now it seems Bayern is more likely Wirtz to Bayern seems more likely by the day with Adidas chipping in with some of the money. Man City and to a lesser extent Madrid haven't given up yet though. The Wirtz family was seen in Manchester. Frimpong on the verge of leaving for Liverpool on the TAA position

Really would like to get both Kerkez and Huijsen, or at least extend Konate. If we can't extend Konate, then we must get Huijsen. Some rumors of Wirtz being in Liverpool for some discussions, but idk if we break the bank on him since that doesn't seem like something we would do, especially with how Szobo has been playing.

How are attitudes to the Club World Cup in your varying locales? Doesn’t seem to be something fans in the UK care much about, but then there was always that split with Spanish/Italian fans when it came to the old Intercontinental Cup which they valued more. Personally I have misgivings myself, although I like the idea of a genuinely international club tournament. I think for the established big European sides it’s yet another cash injection so that success snowballs, which we’ve already seen with the Champions League. For the sides outside of Europe, with the exception of the Saudi sides really, I worry if it’s the worst of both worlds. Not enough cash to close the gap to the European sides, but enough to see them gap their domestic competition for a bit. Something we’ve seen in the Champions League as well, where relative minnows by European standards who are in it every year and can’t close that gap, but end up dominating their domestic competitions.

So, with win you're guaranteed Europa League and could go to UCL depending on if someone else fumbles? Looks like a pretty tough scenario for Forest, but there are plenty of plausible good outcomes there too. Can't remember any other season where 5 teams are battling for the European football on the very last match day.

We just need to beat Chelsea and hope for 1/3 results to go our way. Europa league would do me absolutely fine though. Conference League might a bit of a letdown after the season we've had.
