Upa is the first player they buy from a competitor since 2016 (Hummels).

Gotze and Lewandoski jumping ship really epitomizes the 'rot'.
And now Dortmund is slowly slipping down. Leipzeig's skyrocketing ascension is fueled by money. No close rival at sight. Well done, FC Hollywood!
Edit: By 'close rival, I mean purely from recent footballing results at the highest level. Not neighbourly or traditional rivals (Liv v Everton, Liv/Arse v MU). As if Bayern cares about bringing down their national "competiton". They care about having a good team and good international results. More national competition would acutally be benefictial to them.BVB just bought the coach of Gladbach, in fact BVB is the club that buys the most players from the Bundesliga. So do they just buy them to stay #2 in the Bundesliga and shut down their rivals? If Bayern wouldn't have bought Götze & Lewandowsi, ManU/Real or whoever would have bought them and Bayern would have bought other good players - the result from BVB perspective would have been the same. And as a "close" rival, I would consider only clubs that are competing for a longer time, not only a couple of years. I dont believe this, I think Bayern buys out talent from the Bundesliga teams on purpose to make them stop being good. Dortmund tends to buy 'raw diamonds'. They nurture youth players (e.g. Sancho, Bellingham, etc). Are you seriously comparing the 'poaching' between Dortmund and Bayern? There's a big difference between poaching up-and-comers, and proven star players of domestic rivals. Götze & Lewandowsi going to MU or RM is less bad because there's just Dortmund losing out. Bayern doing the poaching means +1 for Bayern and -1 for Dortmund - a double whammy. I'm a fan of Ajax as well. And admittedly, they're dominant in the Dutch league. They may do their fair share of 'poaching', but they operate more like Dortmund (but with more success historically). Edit: Responding to TerransHill actually. Just wanted to add from where gTank left off.
What is there not to compare? Thorgan Hazard was a proven starplayer for Gladbach for example, I would not call him an "up-and-comer", and even then, what does that even matter?. Doesn't matter how you put it, Dortmund is doing the same thing to other clubs. I don't blame them for it and I don't think there's a direct intend to weaken the opposition behind it. But it's ridiculous to cry about Bayern doing it to them at the same time.
There is a clear career path in the Bundesliga regarding salaries and prestige. Everyone is buying from lower clubs, and Dortmund established itself as the club beneath Bayern.
And your double whammy is way to hyped up. Sure it feels bitter at first, but imagine Lewandowski goes to Real Madrid and Bayern gets Benzema. Dortmund would still remain behind Bayern. So why would Bayern not get Lewandowski if he is the better fit and wants to play for them?

And Chelsea takes the lead - after a very convincing first 15 minutes.
Gotta say it's not often I cheer for chelsea boyz but today is one such day.

I hate Chelsea less than RM and they have a nice German squad in there now (Werner, Havertz, Tuchel, Rüdiger) so I'm rooting for Chelsea, too

Had to check twice after seeing the rain where they are playing.... ^^

Damn, that finish by Benzema
edit: This Real Madrid training ground has top notch drainage

Shouldn't have let Benzema get all that time and space and not winning the first header is criminal let alone the second one haha.
Puligod goal was damn good though :D
Yeah you get less rain in Stoke!

This is legit the first time I have ever seen this tactic of a player laying down behind a free kick wall

Good result 1-1 i guess, thought we should have taken more from that game though and looked a bit sketchy defending set pieces! Oh well back to England we take them and hopefully we can finish the job

I haven't watched much RM this season but this was a disappointing performance by them. Benzema looked very good - but that's kinda it, too.

In English idiom it’s the ‘draught excluder’ (the thing you stick under a door to stop annoying cold air currents, and in Italy it’s called the ‘crocodile’ but I’m not sure why haha
Wonder what it’s called elsewhere

But it is a great way to use shorter players... Or is it better to have the tall ones lay down? Hmm.
Im sure Ill be getting the Baader-Meinhof effect on this one and will be seeing it everywhere from now on just to rub it in.

With how good some players are with taking free kicks, I feel the wall is no hindrance for the shooter but makes it harder for the goalkeeper to see/follow the ball
|
if that was the case then free kickers should have ridiculous goals or shots on target at least. a good percentage is still blocked or goes high/wide so the wall is still doing its job well
