The fact that a bunch of media people who don't watch the team very much made a bunch of bad predictions doesn't mean much. Go back and listen to some of their "reasoning" and its clear they don't watch the team or even put much thought into their projections. I listened to two of the guys who predicted the Raptors wouldn't make they playoffs. They both don't watch the games. Dennis Scott and Dave Jacoby. In 2019 the Raptors were 17-5 without Kawhi. ON top of that, Leonard coasted through the 60 games he played. Before Nurse was head coach workaholics Norm Powell, Pascal Siakam and FVV were constantly improving. They continued to improve under Nurse. Gasol all year long is better than half a year of JV and half a year of Gasol. FVV was taking Green's minutes away from him in the 3rd and 4th rounds of the playoffs. Its no surprise to any one who watches both these guys play that 2020 FVV is better than 2020 Danny Green. The Raptors management team continues to pull no name players from seemingly out of nowhere and turns them into viable NBA players who work extremely hard. Nurse deserves some credit but no where near all of the credit for this. Nurse is a good coach working within a great framework built by Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster. He doesn't deserve coach of the year though. The fact a Raptors coach has won COY two out of the last three years demonstrates this is more of an organization wide thing than Casey and/or NUrse being the best coach in the league. For my money.. Masai Ujiri is the executive of the year... and it ain't close. This is a big reason why the Raptors have had 2 COYs in 3 years. | ||
