They were sending memo's about the virus back in January and the owners have been fully supportive while the players have been and will probably continue to be supported in a way that the other leagues don't come close to. They have tons of currency on both sides of the CBA that I can't imagine will be anywhere near a problem that MLB will be facing or MLS when they finally get those national TV deals that are coming to them. I think Lebron has suddenly realized that he grew up in and played for a team in ohio and that Giannis plays for a team in Wisconsin. Players shouldn't shut up and play but they should also shouldn't just shut up and not play. They have real power in America that black athletes, in particular, have been told to not use even by their fellow black athletes. Tom Brady would win any seat in the northwest that he wanted in November. Arnold Schwarzenegger won the governor race in California.

The Silver NBA has had lots of problems. Cap smoothing was an easy situation that they boggled. They were slower at bubbling than MLS even though they have dozens of times more resources (competent leadership would have been able to start in May, excellent leadership May 1st). Player empowerment still hasn't resolved itself in a positive direction, they haven't monetized social media attention successfully, etc. When it comes to the race relations stuff, they've mostly had layups like Sterling, and these new controversies it seems they just gave the players almost 100% of what they wanted, not really to great effect. The slogan-names are distracting and add little, for example. And in spite of all this, and appearing to be a very player-friendly commissioner from the outside, its quite clear that the players and the union don't trust him/have faith in him at all.

No one really does monetize social media, but the league has embraced it as the key to its future. Its like one of those Step 1, Step 2 .... Step 3 Profit! Plans

https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nba/news/raptors-fred-vanvleet-jacob-blake-shooting-nba-players/5sh5f8kpxmae12zg12jf907hn I'm just over the media aspect of it. It's sensationalized. We talk about it everyday. That's all we see, but it just feels like a big pacifier to me." i'd say Fred VanVleet is one of the smartest NBA players both on and off the court. His BBIQ and his IQ were ignored by scouts. Scouts only looked at how tall he was and how high he could jump. AGENTS/OWNERS RHETORIC: "ya guys i know this bubble sucks and everything but we're going to plaster `black lives matter` all over the place and it'll change to world" I'd say FVV's success is a big FUCK YOU to the NBA establishment. When it comes to NBA scouts meetings.... I imagine a scene similar to Moneyball where the scouts sit around and talk about how good looking a player's gf is and all manner of other stupid crap when evaluating players. But, they always ignore intelligence.

the 1st seeded Celtics are in a fight for their lives against the Bulls and the series turns when Rondo gets hurt. Otherwise, 1st seeded Boston gets eliminated. 3rd seeded Toronto ends up in a steel cage texas death match with the Bucks. The series turns when Norman Powell, a raw part time bench player at the time, gets put into a full time starter role by Casey. Powell at small forward goes a perfect 9 for 9 from 3. If Powell doesn't play absolutely out of his mind the Bucks probably win that series. 3 of Toronto's 4 wins are brutal slug fests. you're over generalizing.

A few exceptions don't disprove the overall trend. For the past roughly 20 years or so, the bottom seeds in the East have just been generally weaker than the bottom seeds in the West.

Luka, Kawhi and Jamal Murray were all sensational tonight, and Donovan Mitchell continues to be great too. Jamal Murray though.... 50,42,50 in his last 3 playoff games. WTF, those are Michael Jordan numbers.
